The Job and Friends

{This chapter was supposed to be two chapters, but they were short, so I merged them together. I hope you enjoy reading them.}

Chapter 4: The Job

Avry was in the maid's quarters when she heard one of the maids call for her. She approaches the sound and meets CZ2128 Delta. Commonly called CZ Delta, sometimes only Delta or CZ. She is a red-gold haired and short stature girl, who wore an eye patch over her left eye and some accessories with military camouflage patterns. CZ loved to hug things she finds cute. She often hugged Éclair Éklair Éklare, even if he struggled to get out of her grip, until her superior asked her to stop. That is why she actually was hugging and patting Avry's head. For some reason, she thought that Avry was cute and deserved to be hugged like Éclair Éklair Éklare. After a while of hugging and patting, Avry talked–

"Did you call me just to do that, or did you have something to tell me?" asked the masked girl.

"Oh, right, I was asked to inform you that Ainz-sama is expecting you for a job–." responded the emotionless Delta but was cut off by an agitated Avry.

"You what?" she paused, "And you waited one hour to tell me that! Now I'm going to be in trouble!" exclaimed the now stressed Avry while struggling to escape the emerald one-eyed girl's grip.

"Do not worry, he is expecting you in another two hours or so. I would not endanger my precious things. That is why you have one of my 'One-Yen Stickers' on you, like I do, see." Delta finished and pointed to the corner of her skirt where a 'One-Yen Sticker' could be seen.

With that said, Avry stopped moving, not that she could escape anyway, and waited the two hours while being patted and hugged by the automaton.

*Two Hours Later*

CZ released Avry a few minutes ago because she needed to do something and didn't want to put Avry, one of her precious things (more like people), in trouble. This is why the masked girl was walking towards the undead's office. On the way there, Avry abruptly stopped in the middle of her movement and clutched her head, as if she was having a headache. However, even if that was true, she was having a headache, it wasn't just any headache, neither was it her memories coming back, it was a vision. This vision, strangely similar to Demiurge's, even if she doesn't know that, is ambiguous and hard to decipher as well. Someone by her side, watching over what seems to be this very tomb she works in.

#What was that?# she thought, while continuing walking towards the ruler's office.

*Knock, Knock, Knock* Three knocks, the shortest number of repeated beats that could be one after another for a consistent and intentional sound. Hearing only two knocks could easily be associated with a random noise because things that fall tend to bounce and smack again. Three knocks with consistent spacing between them is far less likely to happen naturally, and so catches the attention. These three knocks could be heard by Ainz, who was on the other side of the door, in his office.

"Come in." he said.

These words were muffled by the door, but were still heard by Avry on the other side, who gently opened it, enabling her to enter. She walked in front of the desk, kneeled showing her respect to the leader and asked–

"Ainz-sama, you called for me, and thus I came. If I may be so bold to ask, what is this job that you request of me?" politely asked Avry, still kneeling, but looking the undead in the eyes.

Ainz was a bit surprised that she was so polite. He knew that she wouldn't disrespect him, but didn't expect that amount of loyalty and respect from a newcomer. Nonetheless, he responded, "Avry, I am glad you heeded my call. If I asked of you here, it is because–"

"Ainz Ooal Gown." a voice cut the undead's speech, and the owner of the said voice earned three heads looking towards him. "I ask you to dispose of this Trench!" was what the speaker said, pointing his finger towards Avry.

"Avry is part of Nazarick, and every member of it is protected by the supreme beings." Demiurge, who was in the room from the beginning, intervened.

#Supreme beings and not being… So there are more? Troublesome…# thought the intruder.

#I have no idea how he got here, but now is not the time to think about that.# Ainz raised from his chair and walked towards the platinum-like scale mail armor wearing being that intruded his office and said. "Demiurge is right, Avry is now part of Nazarick, and she is under my former comrade's and mine's protection. Thus, if you want to dispose of her, you will need to dispose of me first."

#Well, at least I tried. Now we just have to wait and see what the future holds.# thought the armored guy before saying, "Fine, do it your way Ainz Ooal Gown. However, when the time comes, you will see your mistake." and he disappeared as fast as he appeared.

Ainz sighed and informed Demiurge and Avry that the job was shifted to another day because of the events that transpired, and dismissed them.

Chapter 5: Friends

Somewhere in an unknown forest, two beings could be seen walking together towards a not-so-random direction. One of these beings is a mass of black sticky substance named HeroHero while the other is a shining platinum white armor with a chest piece embedded by a huge sapphire in the middle. The armor seemed to radiate with purity and divine light and the crimson-red cape with golden accents attached around his left shoulder only added to the divine look, is name is Touch Me. These two were friends from mythic time, they were looking for one of their other 41 friends. They heard from merchants that the one they are looking for is alive, and they rapidly understood that what he was doing was spreading the name of their old guild to enable the others to find him. Thus, they embarked on a journey to find Nazarick and that is why they were passing through a forest.

The two were interrupted in their march by an old lady. She informed them that she can read the future because she is a fortune-teller. The woman asked them if they wanted their future to be seen, and they accepted. The elder started the fortune-telling and could now see the future that those two held. What she saw frightened her to her very core. She started to shake, she took a step back.

"T-This c-can't be. There's… there is no way! It is not po-possible!" she yelled while pointing her hooked hand towards the two in front of her.

"What did you see?" asked HeroHero, surprised that the woman had this reaction. Could their future hold something this terrifying?

"No! It cannot be, it can't happen! Not now, no, it cannot, I… I–" she was going to say something, but never got to finish her sentence.

Her breathing accelerated, her chest, jaw, neck, and old back started to pained, the elder felt nauseous and tiered. After a few minutes of the two trying to help the elderly woman, she died of a heart attack. The future she foresaw was too gruesome for her old body, and she passed in terror of the future events that this world await.

After this moment, both friend looked at each other. No words were needed. If the future was this horrible, they needed to do something. Adding to the mix, Touch Me had this feeling that Ainz was in danger. It is as if something or someone was menacing the balance of the world as well as the lives of his precious people.
