Chapter 31: Lord Of Blood, Anna

...........

"Do not worry, sweetie," And quite the sweet voice it was, "You'll get your revenge sooner than later." The seemingly sweet lady murmured as she gently patted the young girl beside her.

The young girl's expression was as cold as ice, unchanging, her pupils bright red and her hair completely white. She just nodded.

"Wait for me here," The Lady said before walking through the door, entering a wide hall, A rectangular table in the middle with six chairs were taken, all but one, her chair.

The lady's entrance naturally attracted everyone's attention for a few reasons, the first being that they were waiting for her and she was late, but most importantly, she was gorgeous.

She might as well have been the most gorgeous woman they had ever seen with her fabulously blood-red hair, flowing all the way down to her thin waist, her similarly blood-red eyes, and her wine-red tight dress.

The lady's eyes, however, were as cold as ice, emotionless as she traced her way to her chair, taking a seat before eyeing everyone in the room, especially Carvel. Indeed, Carvel was there.

"As late as ever, Lord Anna," Spoke one of the Six Lords, a white-haired old man who couldn't help but let out a chuckle.

The atmosphere was very awkward between the Lords, and it became even more awkward once he didn't receive a single acknowledgment or response from Anna.

The Lords that rule over New York consist of six individuals, two women, and four men, including the old man whose name is Bernard and Carvel.

The other two men consist of a very young man, looking to be barely 18, seeming quite nervous, his name is Sal. While the last man looked young, he was, on the other hand, very calm, called Lord Black, his name unknown.

And as calm as him was the other woman in the hall beside Anna who had her eyes closed, looking to be in her thirties or late twenties. Her name is Sally, and she is strangely Sal's elder sister, although they rule different territories.

The Lords never once had to meet, and they'd normally be cautious of doing so due to paranoia, Doomsday can do that to you, bring the darkness in humanity's heart, something they all are familiar with.

Unfortunately, circumstances change, thus why this meeting had to happen, although it's been a week since Carvel sent them the information, but no one responded or sent him help.

"So, speak," Lord Black said as he eyed Carvel, "Tell us all that had happened, especially regarding why you're even alive."

Carvel frowned, clearly sensing the belittlement in his tone as well as the other Lords' eyes looking down on him. He could barely hold back his anger, in fact, the last week has only been him destroying stuff to vent.

The humiliation he went through, he would never forget... So much rage and anger were bubbling within him, still seeking release... Yet even more so was fear, fear of the Unknown.

"Someone is eyeing us, all of us, someone more dangerous than any of you can comprehend," Carvel started his speech in a low tone, PTSD of what had happened swimming in his mind, "I don't really know when he started targetting me, but before I knew it, my territory was surrounded."

"Oh, quit being dramatic," Bernard couldn't help but say, seeming amused, "Such a show doesn't really suit a muscle head like you."

"Trust me... I'm not being dramatic enough," Carvel strangely wasn't annoyed by the interruption. He was being serious, "My territory was surrounded by... Zombies, all hiding in the shadow of buildings, waiting for the sun to set, and standing right beside them was him."

"Him? The man who defeated you?" Sally asked, the atmosphere turning completely solemn.

"The man was wearing a Hazmat suit, and I could only see his Silver eyes, nothing else," Carvel nodded, "I... I escaped, and he expected that, and even knew exactly where I'd escape to... He was waiting for me."

"Yet you survived?" Bernard pointed out the hole in Carvel's story, "Yet you survived against this Unknown dangerous enemy."

"I didn't," Carvel shook his head, "I lost, completely. It was almost as if he could see the future to predict my every move, yet just when I was on my deathbed, he saved me somehow, and I don't know how."

Lord Anna was the first to react, narrowing her eyes. Dealing with someone who can see the future sounds like the most miserable experience one can go through, she realized.

Carvel told them everything he could remember, and he couldn't remember much after Silver basically broke his skull, giving him a concussion.

"If he was able to bring you back from the brink of death, then he must have a healer by his side, and quite the strong one at that," Bernard noted.

"It's also not out of the equation that he saw a future where you'll be useful to him, so I'm out," And without even a shred of hesitation, Lord Black stood up and left.

"So are we," Lord Sally stood up, and following after her was Lord Sal.

The only Lords remaining were naturally Carvel, Bernard, and Anna as the latter finally asked, "Do you know the situation of your territory right now?"

"Yes... Zombies everywhere, and none of the people previously in my settelemnt there as well as all my resources... I checked once I woke up, but nothing was left as if it all evaporated from existence," Carvel honestly answered, hoping that the silver-eyed man would get off his back, and instead switch his attention elsewhere.

Silver leaving him alive really messed with his head, making him paranoid, so he sought every help he could get even if it was from the enemy.

"It's truly unfortunate that he didn't let you rot in hell, but oh well," Anna murmured as she stood up, side-glancing at Bernard, "I'm sure that your friend here will protect you for a while... Probably?"

And so, she turned around. It's not like Carvel didn't expect this to happen. People are just too selfish. Hell, he's a prime example of that, "You aren't safe either... You are his next target."

Lord Anna's steps halted at Carvel's words, narrowing her eyes as she turned around, "Meaning?"

"Silver Eyes is quite interested in the Tombs of the Gods," Carvel stated with a grin, "And he knows about you."

"Oh? And he knows about me how exactly?" Lord Anna took a step forward toward Carvel, her voice becoming icier than the lands of fucking Jötunheimr.

"I'd say chill out but you're already too chill," Before she knew it, Bernard was standing before her, and quite the humorous old man he was, "Now, let's stay civilized, shall we?"

"..." Lord Anna just eyed the two coldly before turning around and leaving alongside her guards.

"Hahaheheh, Well done my friend, well done," Bernard muttered, his expression turning weird, "I'm sure our Lord and Savior will appreciate your work, so tell me, sir Carvel, are you willing to believe?"

In every chess match, there is the chessboard, chess pieces, and those who control them, then there are those who oversee it all, ever so slightly manipulating it all.

And sometimes, the chess pieces make quite the strange decisions, "No matter what, we have to find Silver Eyes!" Anna stated coldly, referring to Silver, "Hopefully, we can cooperate with him... For the sake of our future."
