The Beginning

Filled with emptiness, sinking into the void, the whole world seems to be devoid of light.

Where appears a door, standing firm between nothingness. Instead of a ray of light, what it brought was plight of despair.

Approaching towards the door, the wickedness grew stronger and stronger. Rin held the knob in his hands, something gushed under the door, he could sense his feet damped wet. He faced down only to find that his feet were soaked in blood.

Rin opens the door slowly, with his hands shivering with goosebumps on a trail.

Accompanied by the blood trails and the creaking sound of the door, the blood trails goes down the stairs, till it reaches the wooden floor.

Walking down the stairs, perception increased. Turning to the worst, the splatters of blood came into sight.

Looking around, it ensured a eerie habitat. Still he goes inside more and more. He stopped after walking a distance, there stood something hideous, pinning his father against the wall. It was a shadow with devil in his eyes. Beside him was his brother crucified with nails, back against the wall.

Losing its grip from the neck of his dad, the shadow advances towards Rin. He backs down a few steps trembling in fear as the shadow approaches near and near.

Moving on his way back, he trips on something, falling down on the floor. That's when he heard a noise, calling his name.

"Wake up Rin..... wake up....."

Rin opened his eyes, startled by fear. Roy, his brother lifted up the curtains of the window to allow the advent of light into the room.

"Hey, you little brat, hurry up, you don't have any more time to lose. You're already running late for your college," Roy said.

Rin sat on the bed, dead silent.

"Hey, what happened" asked Roy.

"No..... it's.... it's... nothing, just a freaking dream"

"Idiot, I don't have time to hear your freaking dream. Because of you I am always late for my work" Roy replied annoyingly.

Rin saw it was past the time he needed to wake up at but still he wasn't able to get rid of his drowsiness. While he sat there lazy, a voice came from the kitchen-

"You two, come down at the dining table in 10 minutes else forget your breakfast" She was the caretaker of their house who was like a mother figure to both of them.

The voice struck his ears hard and soon he that realized he was going to be late for college. In a hurry, he ran towards the bathroom, he didn't notice the floor was covered with foam, he slipped over the tub and hit his head hard on the wash basin.

"Ahhhhhhhhh....… Darn it, you piece of shit, you did it knowingly," Rin screamed with pain.

"Sorry, but this serves you right for not waking up early in the morning. Nice shot babe, the day isn't going to get better if you just whine like a baby, so hurry up if you don't want to be kicked out of your classroom" Roy said.

Roy was his elder brother who was born seven years before him but just after Rin entered the world, his mother's blood rate started decreasing rapidly. The doctors too were panic stricken with those strange happenings but they were too helpless to do any miracle and she eventually died of blood loss as all the blood in her body dried out due to unknown reasons. His father closed the case and didn't let a word get out of the room.

Time flew by and no one cared what happened. Her sudden death was a mystery only known to his father and elder brother. 18 years had passed since her death and it was the birthday of Rin. He was excited but his excitement didn't last long since he was already too late for college.

By road, it was two miles away from their place. Roy worked at a factory which was nearby Rin's college. They had a shortcut in the woods which saved them a lot of time.

While travelling through the woods, Rin felt someone watching him, he stopped for a moment and looked around cautiously, there was no one to be seen still something was bothering him. He was running short of time so he gave it a cold shoulder and ran as fast as he could.

"Hey, Rin, I would crack your head if you stop even for once," said Roy.

"Don't waste your energy on shouting at me, see there are only 5 minutes left before my classes start," said Rin.

"I told you to wake..."

Rin cut his words and ran at his top speed towards his college. He bid his brother goodbye and scurled off inside his classroom.

The classes were finally over and the college was about to close when one of his classmate rushed towards him and landed a punch straight on his face. This sudden action left him too flabbergasted and without a second thought he pounced upon his opponent. This wasn't new for him neither for his classmates. His classmates considered it as an entertaining drama and no one bothered to stop them instead all of them gathered with their friends from other classes to enjoy the fight.

The wear and tear continued letting out some freaking noises out of the class. The teacher hustled into their class and saw both of them choking each other.

" what the hell is wrong with you guys, always looking for a reason to fight. This isn't the first time but I am telling you but this is going to be the last time else you both are going to get a TC"

"now, come on you two , you both need to learn how to maintain discipline in the class and believe me I am pretty good at teaching kids like you "

Rin was given an hour of detention of cleaning the store room with the other guy. After an hour he finally came out of the building. He was looking for Roy but Roy was nowhere to be seen. It was awkward because they always went home together and it was not the first time that Rin got a detention and was late. He searched for Roy around the whole building, 45minutes had already passed but he was unable to find him.

With a bit of hesitation he finally decided to go back home, he convinced himself that Roy might had some important work and went home ahead.

"Maybe I am gonna get a large birthday party that maybe the reason he left me and went alone " //he thought to himself//

Rin started walking, after walking a few distance he took a glimpse of the colorful city lights. He went towards them and he knew where he was, in the streets of lenzenberg. It was a beautiful place as it looked but it was not enough to stop Rin, the excitement of the surprise party was all over his mind. He took a cab and left for home. It took him half an hour till he was standing before his house gate. He asked the driver to wait till he gets the money.

Rin was getting an unpleasant feeling , he didn't know why but maybe he was not feeling well for all that ruckus happened today and then the next thing he noticed was that he was standing blank in front the door and the cab driver was honking to hint him that he want the money to leave.

"wait a sec man , no one is going to run away with your money"

Rin knocked the door, again, and again….... there was no response. He was fed up with this so this time he beat the door little harder , the door moved away a slight bit, it was already open. That was unusual for them as they were new to the town so they always kept their door shut for safety.

"what the heck man! why is it open and still no one responding?"

"anyone home….…. Roy, Dad, are you there"

(bing….. bang, bang...… )

A sound came from somewhere inside the house, Rin moved inside and walked to the stairs. The noise was still coming but it was weak and gradually it stopped. It was coming from the basement, he went to the door that lead to the basement and opened it. It was dark, he went down the stairs and then he saw a small light flickering at a few meters away from him.

He found the electricity board and switched it on and then he turned back to check on the light that he saw a moment ago. What he saw was unimaginable, he couldn't believe his eyes, it felt like his whole world was falling apart. He was terror stricken, his legs were already numb, he could feel his heart ripped in half. He was starting to lose his mind and the next sec he fell on ground, unconscious.
