Beep Beep Beep…

Beep Beep Beep…

Beep Beep Beep…

The Holter monitor was beeping steadily next to the bed.

The air was stale and cold around the room.

The Endotracheal Tube, Foley Catheter, IV Pumps, Naso-Gastric Tube, Feeding Tubes, a Ventilator, a Cervical Brace, Venodynes, Chest Tubes and other medical equipment, all connected to the one lady laying in the bed.

Eyes closed, and long blond hair spread all around the bed.

Unconscious she laid. Her peachy skin is paler than usual. Freckles evenly spread across the bridge of her nose. A beauty she was, princess beauty she possessed, even in the faded blue hospital gown.

Her chest was rising and falling as she evenly inhaled and exhaled. Still alive! But for how much longer?

Death could come at any moment.

Bright lights shone on her.

Feet swiftly shuffled against the floor outside. Murmurs were heard outside the heavy hospital door.

An impatient voice was heard, getting louder and louder as it came closer and closer to the door.

"I'm sorry, sir, but you cannot come in. She has yet to wake up." A worried voice said in front of the door. The voice sounded as if it had come from an old man, the voice sounded hoarse.

"Do you not know who I am! Let me in immediately or else I will make sure that you get fired." The voice was powerful and stern, demanding, deep. It must belong to a young man, a man who knows what he wants and will not change his mind.

"I- yes, sir." The voice from the old man sounded worried.

The door opened, not a creek to be heard, revealing the lady laying on the bed, still unconscious.

A tall man looked into the room, directly at the lady. His eyes looked at the ground as he deeply inhaled and exhaled before taking a step into the room.

He took one slow long step and another one and another one. Within six steps, he was standing beside the lady. Sadness filled his face, tears pooled his bottom eyelids. He was hurt… it killed him to see the lad in such a position. So many tubes connected to her.

What relieved him the most was watching her heartbeat on the Holter monitor, hearing the steady beeps coming out of it. The corner of his lips pulled up into a smile.

She is still alive!

She is going to come out of this alive!

He needed to think positive, that is what his mother told him. A wise woman she was, a kind one too. She didn't want to see her son in the dumps. Which mother would want to see that? A very cruel one.

"Ivy…" His voice was a whisper as her name came from his mouth, "Don't leave now…"

The girl who the man called Ivy kept her eyes closed for a minute before they slowly opened. The bright light was shining right into her eyes. The bright light was blinding like the sun… at least to someone who had been sleeping for three weeks.

Once again, the girl opened her eyes. Blinking a few times to adjust to the blinding light.

Once he saw her beautiful emerald green eyes opened, his smile widened. The corner of his lips almost touches the bottom of his ears.

She finally awoken! What is his is still his?

Her eyelids slowly closing and opening back up, threatening to bring the Ivy back into the darkness that she just broke free from.

Her head turned, studying the surrounding room.

The walls, a grayish tan color and the ground, white marble. Not a perfect square. The side that she was on had some walls on angles, kinda like an octagon. A few monitors around her, monitoring her heartbeat, breathing, and blood pressure. Looking down at herself, there were tubs coming out for her. Too much for her to count. She was in a cotton faded sky blue gown on her with white small polka dots.

Slowly trying to sit up to get a better look, a firm hand falls on her chest to push her back down on the bed. Being too weak to fight against it, she abided and laid back down. Another firm hand was on her back, helping her lay down slowly.

She looked up to see who the firm hands belonged to.

"Seb...a...st...ian?" Her voice was weak and broken apart.

"Yes, dear?" He felt overjoyed when Ivy remembered his name and who he was. It was always the best feeling in the world when the one that you love, the one is your other half, remembers you.

The doctor's had warned the man that her head injury was severe and she might wake up with amnesia. That was one of the few things that worried him the most. Over the course of three weeks, he lost hours of sleep due to worry and stress about his other half.

"Wh...e..re a...m I?" She asked. Her eyes, threatening to shut and bring her back into the scary darkness, were closing and slowly opening back up.

"We are at the hospital. You should rest, I will let the doctors know you woke up." The man said standing up.

"N… o!" She exclaimed in her weak, tired voice.

The man was right; she needed to rest, even knowing she just woken up from a three-week coma.

The man that she called Sebastian raised an eyebrow and looked back at her.

"I do.. n'.. t li...k... e ho... s ... pit... als, Pl.. eas.. e s.. tay." She begged, tears slowly pooled up in her eyes, her lips trembling.

Sebastian couldn't bear to see Ivy in such a state. She looked too fragile, breakable, weak.

The man nodded and sat back down. He reached forward and planted a kiss on the lady's forehead.

"C...an y..ou t...el..l m...e wh..at ha..pp..en..ed?"

"You don't remember?"

She slowly shook her head.

"There was a car crash… I'm pretty sure that it was done on purpose. The car hit your side directly." Sebastian explained. It hurt him deep inside as he remembered what happened. That one incident that happened three weeks ago. He would never forget what happened. It will hunt his dreams.

She slowly nodded, listening to him as he told her what happened during the car crash. Piece by piece, it slowly came together. There were still a few missing pieces to the puzzle.

Like who was the one that caused the accident and why would they do that to her?

Ivy was just a sweet young girl trying to survive the hard, sinister life that god had given to her.

Was it her family? Her adoptive family?

No, they loved her more than anything… did they?

No, they didn't. They never did and never will, they hated and despised her.

Doubts filled Ivy's mind. Fear travelled across her face.

However, the accident must have been trying to kill Ivy. Once they realize their plans failed, they will surely come back for more, and have another attempt on killing her.

She wasn't safe… she was in danger… in murderous danger...
