The Road to Civil War!

[ 1 year later.]

" What are you doing today?"

Jen asked over the phone.

" Well, I was going to go pay a visit to the Jean grey's school. But wait?!"

Jay was telling Jen his plans for the day when he heard a sound outside of his apartment. He looked out the window to see two rpgs heading straight for his apartment.

" Fuck!"

Jay cursed as his apartment exploded.

" Jay?! What?--"

Jen was asking when the phone suddenly hung up.

" That's one of those bastards down ten more to go."

Scorcher said as he and grim reaper looked at the devastation in front of them.

" You two better had a good fucking reason for blowing up my home!"

Superman growled, his eyes burning red with anger.

" How the he-"

Scorcher was asking before Superman levelled him into the cement below.

" I asked a question, if you don't want to lose that other arm, you'll answer it."

Superman said in anger.

" Von Bardas came to us with an offer."

Reaper said to the man.

Jay's eyes widened in shock when he heard the name. He immediately planted his fist into reapers chest knocking him out instantly. He stripped the two men of their armor and quickly made for the nearest police station.

' Damn it Fury! I knew this would come back to bite us. An entire year with nothing but peace all gone, because you just couldn't let it go. I need to find the others and fast. If they came for me, they'll be going for them too.'

Jay thought as he flew through the air

Jay dropped the two villains off at the police station and immediately made for Avengers tower only to be stopped by a nearby explosion.

" Fuck! That can't be a coincidence."

Jay said as he looked at the nearby explosion. He quickly raced towards the building on fire, arriving to see two of his friends badly injured.

" Cage! Jessica! Damn it!"

Jay yelled. He quickly grabbed the two wounded heroes and flew to the nearest hospital, dropping the two off.

" Do you have them?!"

Jay yelled as he handed the two over to the doctors.

" We got them!"

The lead doctor yelled in response.

Jay let the two go and quickly ran back out of the building to try and help the others. His first stop was the Jean Grey's school for gifted individuals. Arriving to see the mansion under attack from spider slayers and other armored individuals.

" Wolverine Duck!!!"

Cyclops yelled as he fired at the enemy behind Logan.

" Thanks, slim."

Wolverine replied

" Who are these guys and why are they after you?!"

Emma asked in anger

" I don't know?! I've never met these guys."

Wolverine replied

" I think I have the answer to that question Logan."

Jay said as he flew towards the mansion grounds.

" Superman? What do you mean? What the hell is going on?!"

Cyclops asked

" A year ago, A group of heroes went on a mission Logan was a part of that mission."

Jay said to the man.

" What do you mean? You're going to have be a little bit more specific."

Logan replied

" Nick Fury led a team into Latveria, you should remember logan."

Jay explained

" I don't remember going on no mission with fury. And I damn sure don't remember going to Latveria."

Logan said to the group.

" Jen always said the same thing. But now that I think about, she never lied about it. And I can tell you're not lying about it. I just assumed she was trying to cover it up. There's more to this than we know. And the only person with answers is fury. I suggest you get suited up Logan because everyone who was a part of that mission is being targeted. Luke and Jessica are in the hospital right now and I fear the others aren't going to be too far behind them."

Jay said before leaving the X-mansion.

" What the hell did you do Fury?!"

Logan asked in anger.

" We'll figure that out later for now we're needed."

Cyclops said to the group.

As Jay made his way back to the city.

' There's so much yelling, I can hear another fight nearby.'

Jay thought as he flew into the city. He could hear more explosions and gunshots coming from the center of the city. Clark landed in the middle of the fight joining his comrades in battle

" Superman?! Good to see ya buddy. Mind giving me a hand with Lady Ock over here?"

Peter asked as he was getting man handled by the woman.

" Damn you Fury!"

Jay yelled as he rushed to help Spiderman.

" Sorry big blue, but these babies are new and improved."

Lady octopus said as she attacked Jay.

" Lady, you picked the wrong day to be a bad guy."

Jay said as he crushed two of the four arms in his hands. He grabbed the woman tied her up with the arms trapping her in her place.

" Thanks man I appreciate it."

Peter said breathless.

" Get back in the fight spider the others need us."

Jay said as he helped the man balance himself

" Ugh!"

Jen grunted as she crashed through a building, Titania right on top of her.

" Not so tough now are ya Hulk bitch?"

Titania asked as she pushed Jen's head into the ground with her foot.

" Get your Foot off her."

Superman demanded as he slammed into the woman sending her crashing through several buildings.

" You alright Jen?"

Jay asked as he helped the woman to her feet.

" What the hell is going on Jay?"

Jen asked

" All hell has broken lose."

Jay replied

" And It's fury's fault!"

Steve yelled over the sound of explosions.

" Hahahaha! What's the matter Spiderman? Goblin got your tongue?"

Hobgoblin asked as he bombarded the heroes with pumpkin bombs.

" Guess what time it is? I'll give ya a hint! It begins with c and has lobbering in it!"

The thing said as he and the fantastic four joined the battle in New York.

" Lobbering? Dude!"

The human torch complained.

" It's one in the fricking morning. Whadda ya want from me? I was in my pajamas, eating a burrito, and alluva sudden I gotta get my little blue fantastic four pants on and come down to-"

Ben was complaining to the group.

" Not to take the wind out of your sail's ben. But these guys aren't reacting well to your quips and wisecracks."

Peter said to the man as he dodged more pumpkin bombs.

" Yours maybe."

Ben replied.

" Oh, like yours are so much better than mine."

Peter shot back.

" Mines have character. Yours are all nasal."

Ben replied back

" How can you say that? After all we-"

Peter shot back before being saved from a bomb by Superman.

" Hey, guys how about a little less talking and a little more smashing?"

Jay asked as he paced peter back down on the floor.

" Colonel Fury, what's going on?"

Reed asked

" Yeah, Fury tell us what the hell is going on. I'm sure we'd all love to hear this. Let me give you a hint starts with Lucia."

Superman yelled

" Just need some muscle on this, Doctor Richards."

Fury responded ignoring Superman completely.

" You have it, just like to know what we're fighting about."

Reed replied

" Did you ignore me, Fury?"

Superman asked only to be ignored again.

" Ben watch where you're going!"

Peter yelled as he caught the big man in the air.

" Sorry."

Ben replied.

" Fury!! Fury, you need to end this now! We have to get this out of New York City."

Daredevil yelled to Fury.

" Well, if you think calling a time out will help go ahead!"

Fury yelled back as he fired at goblin

" We have to get this out of the populated area. Now!"

Daredevil yelled

" Ah!"

Ben yelled as shocker blasted him in the face.

" I'm oh no. Oh no!"

Socker yelled in a panic as his gauntlets stopped working.

" You outta juice? That's a damn shame. Which hospital should I send the flowers to?"

Ben asked as he readied himself to punch Shocker.

" Somethings coming fast!"

Superman yelled as he tied Goblin up.

" Her!"

Daredevil said as Lucia von Bardas landed in the city.

"Guys, I think we just got a break, someone forgot to change their triple-a Duracell's."

Peter joked

" She has arrived."

Shocker replied

" Or not."

Peter said correcting himself.

" Congratulations on your perseverance and American spirit. Most of you were supposed to be dead by now. But so was I. So, I guess we're even."

The robotic Lucia Von Bardas said to the group.

" Ew."

Peter said as he looked at the womans deformed body

" Damn you all to hell fury."

Superman said as he and Jen looked at the woman.

" What's going on?"

Ben asked

" Take her out!!!"

Fury yelled as he began firing at the woman.

" Damnit, Fury!"

Steve yelled as he charged the woman with his shield.

" Just take her down!"

Steve yelled ordering everyone to take the woman down.

The heroes all attacked the woman. Cap threw his shield, Daredevil his baton, Spiderman shot webs at the woman, and Fury shot lasers. All of it however was rendered useless by a barrier around her body.

" You believe I would come so far? Plan so long? And let you touch my body again? You cannot hurt me anymore, Nick Fury."

Lucia yelled as she blocked all of the heroes' attacks.

" Well, this sucks."

Peter stated.

" ARGH!"

" Oh no this is it."

The Villains yelled as their armor started to glow. Electricity started to bounce around them.

"Take these words to hell with you, Fury! This is the day you pay for all your sins! Your costumed soldiers have been gathered and beaten. Those who survived were purposely gathered here- Rounded up- for one purpose. To watch this. To let the last thing, they see on this earth be the culmination of all your lies and betrayals"

Lucia explained as the other villains started to emit an energy that pushed the heros back.

"Oh, man! Oh man, I don't want to do this!"

" This is it!"

" Didn't think it was supposed to hurt like... AHHHHH!"

The Villains all said as their armor started to burn.

" My soldiers- The physical battle with you was my gift to them."

Lucia explained as she began to glow as well.

" Oh no! Sue Separate them with your forcefield. It's a chain reaction energy flux!"

Reed yelled in a panic.

" A what?!"

Fury asked as he shot at Lucia.

" It's a bomb! All of the tech-armor together makes a bomb!"

Reed yelled

" Sue as many bubbles as you can make fast!"

Jay yelled

" Oh god!"

Sue said in a panic as she tried separating the villains to no avail.

" What's ARGHHHH!"

" Get it off!"

The villains yelled in terror.

" You are here to witness the destruction of your people as you tried to destroy mine! The deaths of Millions of American souls will be on your head, Nick Fury. They will name this desert wasteland after you!"

Lucia said finally ready for her death.

" Not today you lunatic."

Superman yelled as he appeared below the woman holding her up by the ground below.

" No, How did you?"

Lucia asked in a panic.

" Your barrier stops things from getting close to you, but it doesn't stop me from moving the ground under your feet!"

Superman said as he chucked the woman in the air.

' Got to move fast.'

Jay thought as he moved towards the villains. He began stripping them of the armor they wore removing as much of it as he could before the armor detonated and crushed it into a small ball.

" Sue BUBBLE!"

Jay yelled as he held the crushed remains of the armor in his hand. Sue quickly used her powers to place a bubble around the tiny sphere allowing Superman time to get it and Lucia as far away from New York As possible. The man carried the ball into space just as the bomb went off. it exploded into his face causing the man to be knocked back down to earth.

" JAY!"

Jen yelled as the explosion engulfed the night sky.

" Superman?!"

The avengers and fantastic four yelled in terror.

Superman was knocked back down towards the planet, catching fire as he rocketed towards the ground.

" Ugh! Okay, that's the first time I've been hit that hard in ever."

Superman said as he rubbed his head. Though the blast was equivalent to that of a few nukes it didn't do much than give the man a slight headache.

" I'm not hurt at all. It's nice to be damn near invulnerable."

Superman said as he continued his fall.

' Am I falling?'

Jay wondered

" Oh SHIT!"

Jay yelled as he realized he was free falling towards the planet.

He quickly shifted his body in the air and did his best to put the brakes on, managing to stop himself just before he hit the ground.

" Whoa, that was too close."

Superman said as he landed on the ground.

" Everyone all right?"

He asked as he looked at the stunned heroes.

Reed quickly walked up to the man and began examining his body, looking for any signs of damage.

" Remarkable, we knew you were strong, but this is insane. Not a single mark anywhere on your body. And the suit is still in one piece. You've got to tell me how you made this."

Reed said as he examined the man's body.

" Out of the way Doctor. Come here country boy."

Jen said as she shoved the man aside and hugged Jay.

" What happened here fury?"

Susan storm asked

" You tell them Fury or I will!"

Steve rogers demanded.

" Captain there's a time and a place for everything and this ain't it."

Fury responded.

" Fury, you and me are gonna- head up!"

Steve called out as a jet landed nearby.

" Fury!? Anything you got to say to me?"

Logan asked as the X-men arrived on the scene.

" Sure, took your time getting here guys.'

Jay said to the group.

" We all can't move as fast as you can."

Beast replied.

" Glad to see you're all right Hank."

Jay said with a smile on his face.

" X-men, were you attacked as well?"

Reed asked

" Just Logan, but it was on school grounds."

Cyclops replied

" Are the students, okay?"

Susan asked

" Yes, we took care of it quickly."

Emma responded.

" Idiot in the mandroid tin suit told me he had a rendezvous point at the hospital over there. All he knew was that it was payback time for me and Fury. Guy said something about getting me back for something I don't remember doing. Can't help but wonder what that thing is."

Logan explained as he confronted Fury.

" Wait? Titania said the same thing to me when she attacked me."

Jen said to the man

" Same with Goblin, Shocker, and Ock. And lately I've been having these Nightmares about a fight I don't remember."

Peter explained

" Wait, none of you really remember?"

Jay asked

" I remember Superman! Get to it Fury!"

Steve demanded.

" This- Tonight was an organized terrorist attack on American soil. Retribution for this group of you helping me overthrow the Latverian government and assassinating their elected leader."

Fury explained to the group of heroes.

" When was this supposedly?"

Daredevil asked

" A year ago, today."

Fury responded.

" Uh I know I'm a bit of a flake sometimes. But you'd think I'd remember something like... You said before the fight, you said secret war." What secret war? Why don't we remember?"

Peter asked

" There's a reason you don't."

Steve answered

" Which of us are we talking about? The X-Men?"

Cyclops asked.

" No. Only Luke cage, Black Widow, Spider-man, Logan, Myself, Superman, Daredevil, and that young lady right there. Should I continue for you Fury or?"

Steve asked

" One year ago. I came to you for a favor. My agency uncovered a tangible threat to the United States from our Lucia von bardas. Our high-tech low-level Criminals were being funded for a purpose. The people in charge of this country's safety, the people who put me in charge of finding and dealing with exactly this threat... Upon hearing about the potential Latverian funded terrorism in this country decided to do absolutely nothing. I've been through twelve presidents in my time, and all I can say I have learned from it is that the American people will elect just about anybody. and yeah, my job gets complicated. But I made a promise to myself Years ago that if I had to choose between a publicly elected Millionaire's back-handed oil and technology dealings... And the safety of the innocent people... Then there's no choice at all. Problem was, I made too much of a stink about what I found. And my reputation of being someone who doesn't take this kind of crap from people preceded me by decades. They knew I was going to move on this. I didn't care that they knew- I just wanted to get it done before they tried to stop me. Then the thought occurred to me- Did my president want me to go off on my own and take care of it for him because his hands were tied or too dirty?"

Fury said as he explained the whole story to the group of angry heroes.

" Is that what the blow-off was about? Or had they invested so much money into rebuilding Latveria that the idea that maybe it had backfired on them was too much? Or did they actually think they could negotiate with people like that? Then I thought I don't care. All that mattered was that this had to be stopped. But I couldn't use shield materials- Not only would it tip my hat- but it was also an act of war. Actually, without permission from the U.N. and the world court- It was worse than that. An act of global treason. - Terrorism! But the thing is-What I wanted to do here wouldn't mean half as much if I had used my men. Von Bardas wanted to punish us by funding our criminals- Use our criminal system against us. So, I had to use our heroes against her. Could I have slipped into castle doom in the middle of the night and quietly killed her? Yes. In her sleep, with two tiny drops of an invisible poison cocktail into the filter of her air conditioning. But that's not the language these people understand. It says nothing. It would mean nothing. It wouldn't stop the coming attack- It would just give it purpose in someone else's hand. The punishment for their terror had to be loud. Total"

Fury explained to the group every action he took to ensure Latverias destruction, including the mind controll of the superheroes in the field.

" Oh my god."

Emma stated

" I saved your lives and your families lives. But there it was the self-righteous indignation. Say what you will about WWII, but back then when you killed someone they stayed dead. As for what happened here tonight- What can I say? Looks like I was right. She was going to attack us. I tried my damnedest to spare you the brunt of the aftermath, but I guess that wasn't meant to be."

Fury explained.

" Spare us. You made them War-criminals. Luke's in the hospital right now barely clinging onto his life. That's how you spare us? Would this even have happened had you not gone to Latveria?"

Jay asked.

" You didn't have to be there. In fact, out of everyone who was there you were the only one obvious of your actions."

Fury replied

" Because I was told the government ordered this to happen From Jen. But that was a lie. You dolt her that so, I wouldn't get involved didn't you. But I did. Damn it Fury. Do you realize what you've done? What's going to happen when the rest of the world finds out about this?"

Jay asked

" I don't care what the rest of the world thinks."

Fury replied

" You knew this, though right cap? You said-"

Peter asked the man in disbelief

" I'm an agent of shield. They started running brain tests to make sure agents weren't compromised in the field by mutant psychics or any other manipulation. A couple of weeks ago I got undone- Fury and I already had words. I'll tell you all what I told him... He can go straight to hell!"

Steve replied to the young spider.

" Fury! outside of the X-men, no one knows the hell I've been through more than you! And you'd do this to me? All I've been through, you'd poke at my brain?"

Logan asked in anger

" You are the best at what you do."

Fury responded.

" I'd have done it for ya without the head games."

Logan replied

" And sometimes you do. And sometimes I can't take that chance."

Fury stated back.

"LOGAN!"

"NO!"

Cyclops and Emma yelled as Logan attacked fury.

" YOU DON'T MESS WITH MY HEAD! YOU DON'T MESS WITH MY HEAD!"

Logan yelled as he tore fury apart.

" Stop."

Agent Johnson said as she used her abilities to make logans heart explode in his chest.

" Graaaaagh!"

Logan yelled in pain before collapsing.

" Oh my god Emma what?"

Cyclops asked as he ran towards Logan.

" I just exploded his heart from the inside. Anyone else want to try and take a swing my way? because you'll be. UGh!"

Johnson gasped as Jay grabbed her by the throat.

" I dare you to try. If I wanted it you'd be dead already."

Jay said as he squeezed the woman's throat.

Agent Johnson clawed at her neck trying her best to break free from the man's grip.

" Ghk Ughhhh!"

Johnson choked as her face turned purple. Just before she passed out Jay let her go, dropping her too the floor.

" We're done here. That was a fake. I know you can here me fury, and I want you to know something. Today you made a very powerful enemy. I won't hesitate to take you down the next time I find you."

Jay said before walking away from the agent.

" Come on Jen, we've got to go try and find a place to stay tonight, they blew my apartment up."

Jay said as he wrapped his arms around the woman's waist.

" Mine should still be fine. I was attacked at the office."

Jen replied

" Your place it is."

Jay said before flying off.
