" I can't believe I was turned down again. Man, this blows."
Jay said to himself as he walked down the street, not paying attention he ended up bumping into someone.
" Hey, watch where you're going."
A feminine voice said as jay looked up from his daze. He looked up to see the jade giant herself She-hulk wearing a suit.
" Oh, I'm sorry miss. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. Please accept my apologies." Jay said as he held out his hand for the woman to shake.
" It's alright it happens, sorry if I came off aggressive. I just lost a case in court, and it still bothers me."
Jennifer said as she shook the man's hand.
" Wanna talk about it over a drink?"
Jay asked as he shook the woman's hand.
" You know what I could use a drink right now. Sure, why not. But you're paying."
Jen said with a sly smile on her face.
" Of course, Miss?"
Jay said asking for the woman's name.
" Oh, do you not know who I am?" Jen asked
" Well, I know you're she-hulk, but I don't actually know your name."
Jay responded. Jen laughed at the man as he scratched his head.
" it's Jennifer Walters. But you can call me Jen."
Jen said to the man.
" It's nice to meet you Jen my name is James, but most people choose to call me Jay."
Jay said to the woman introducing himself.
" Well, Jay I gotta say you got quite the grip there. Do you lift weights or something?"
Jen asked as the two walked down the street.
" Yes, actually I do. It's a bit of a hobby of mine."
Jay answered the woman.
She-hulk looked at Jay with a confused look on her face.
" Really? You'd never be able to tell with the clothes you wear. I mean I can see you're pretty built, but that grip is something else."
Jen said to the man.
" Yeah, I get that a lot."
Jay said with a chuckle making the woman laugh as well
" Oh, we're here."
Jay said as the two arrived in front of the restaurant.
" I thought you wanted a drink?"
Jen said as she raised her eyebrow at the man in confusion.
" I did. I think this place has amazing booze. And great food."
Jay said with a smile on his face.
" Oh, yeah? You bring all the pretty ladies here for your first date?"
Jen joked
" No actually, I usually come here alone. You're the first person I've had the chance to eat with in a long time."
Jay responded with a sad smile on his face. Jen seeing the look on his face realized she may have made small mistake in her teasing.
" But enough the sad stuff let's get a table."
Jay said with his smile once again returning to his face. Jen nodded and the two entered the restaurant. Once inside they were greeted by a waitress and escorted to a table.
" So, Jay, wanna tell me about yourself?"
Jen asked
" Well, not much to know about me. I'm a farm boy who grew up in Derby Kansas. I moved to the big city after graduating from college, and I am currently looking for a job as a journalist. Though I haven't been having much luck today. That's actually why I bumped into you."
Jay explained to the woman. His eyes never leaving hers.
" Is that right? I managed to nab me a big strong farm boy. I like it. You're quite cute there farm boy."
Jen teased.
" You are very beautiful yourself Jen. Now, I got one question for ya?"
Jay said to the woman.
" Oh yeah? What's that?"
Jen asked as she stared back at the man.
" Do you know what you want to eat, because I'm stumped."
Jay said with a small laugh.
" Yeah, I'll just get the steak and lobster."
Jen responded with a little laugh of her own.
" Then I'll get the same."
Jay said.
He motioned for the waiter to come over and gave her their orders.
" So, Jay I gotta know, what was it like growing up on a farm?"
Jen asked
" Well, it was fun if you enjoyed being woken up early every morning to plow the fields or move the hay barrels. But hey I did enjoy it, so it was never a problem. Ma and Pa made sure I was raised properly, teaching me all kinds of skills necessary to survive. And skills that all men should have, Manners for example."
Jay said to the woman.
" I remember one time I didn't wake up when pa went to wake me. Boy, he went above and beyond with getting me back. He had a friend from down the road come over and they lifted the mattress, with me still on it, out of the house and carried me to the creek and threw a bucket of water on me. I jumped up so hard from the bed I fell in the creek."
Jay told the woman one of his many stories from his childhood.
" Oh my god no he didn't!"
Jen said in disbelief over the boy's stories.
" Yes, he did. Man, Pa never let me it down after that."
Jay laughed.
" That's funny. If you think that's bad, you should have seen what I did to my cousin when we were younger. I went over to his house one day during the weekend and I took a permanent Marker and drew cat whiskers and a monocle on his face while he slept. He apparently didn't see until after school Monday, he was so mad at me. And if I'm being honest at the time, I felt so bad, but now I can't help but think how funny it was."
Jen said as she explained her joke to Jay, who had been staring at the woman with a smile on his face.
" No, you didn't."
Jay said as he stared the woman.
" Oh, yes I did."
Jen laughed
" Tell me he got you back for it."
Jay asked
" No, he didn't. I don't think he ever figured out it was me."
Jen laughed
" That's so messed up."
Jay said as through his laughter
After eating their food and sharing a few more stories together the two decided it was time to go ahead and head home.
" I'm glad I met you Jen this was fun."
Jay said as he and Jen walked out of the restaurant.
" Yes, it was Superman."
Jen said with a smile on her face. As soon as his name left her lips Jay's face turned to one of shock.
" Sweetheart, I'm an avenger and a Lawyer. I know a disguise when I see one, and might I add an awful disguise at that."
Jen said with a chuckle.
" That easy to see through me huh. Sorry for not saying anything sooner."
Jay said as he scratched the back of his head.
" Don't worry. You can make it up to me next time."
Jen said with a smile on her face.
" So, there's a next time?"
Jay asked hoping for the woman to say yes.
" Definitely! Here this is my number give me a call when you get home, or if you want you can come home with mama~"
Jen said with lust in her voice. Her finger trailing up Jay's jaw.
" Next time Jen."
Jay said with a slight chuckle. Jen gave one of her own in response
" Okay, but seriously I had fun tonight. Thank you, James."
Jen said with a genuine smile on her face.
" I had fun too. I look forward to next time Jen. Until then take care of yourself and stay safe, okay?"
Jay said to the woman. Jen nodded and pulled the man into a tight hug and kissed him.
" You too James."
Jennifer said as she separated from the man, letting out a small giggle as the man looked at her red in the face.
Jay watched as the woman turned and left for avenger's tower. However, unknown to him, watching from afar was the black widow.
" That was easier than I thought. I didn't even have to set this us up. Guess my job is done for now. I better get back before I look suspicious."
Widow said as she packed her things up and left for the tower.
After a long walk back, Jennifer finally reached Avenger's tower.
" I'm Back!"
Jen yelled as she walked into the main room of the tower.
" Oh, hey Jen. Welcome back! What took you so long? I thought your case ended at five today."
Janet asked as she greeted her friend and teammate.
" I was taken on a date."
Jen replied happily
" Oh really? You seem happy."
Janet said as she looked upon her friend. Her face practically glowing.
" What's so special about this guy? I mean you're practically glowing."
Janet asked.
" I've been on many dates Janet, but none of them ever looked at me the way this guy did. I mean no matter what we talked about he listened to me, every single word, and not once did he not look me in the eyes. Every guy I've ever been with was undressing me with their eyes the moment they lay their eyes on me. But he just looked me in my eyes. He asked me about my day and showed interest in my problems. No other guy has ever done that. And we're going on another date this weekend."
Jen explained to her friend happily.
" Wow Jen! That's amazing. I'm so happy for you. What's his name? And when do we get to meet him?"
Janet asked genuinely intrigued on the woman's love life.
" You already have met him, and you already know his name."
Jen replied cryptically.
" Oh, come on Jen. That doesn't help at all."
Janet replied.
" Well, we're planning to go on another date this weekend. If you're lucky you might just find out yourself."
Jen said with a grin on her face as she left for her room leaving behind a stunned Janet.
