Climbing

Authors note: If anyone is confused why he would help the fire nation please consider the fact that he is just a normal dude and is in a world he has only seen from a cartoons perspective where 90% of the show is comedic in some way. He has yet to realize the real consequences his actions can have.

After waiting for an hour, the soldiers who had left returned, running through the foliage to inform their captain. Curious how much they killed I checked their status to see that each one had about two or three experience points filled in.

They quickly approached the captain and saluted "Sir"

Giving them a quick salute back the captain inquired "Report, did anything actually change on the blue box"

"Yes sir, the top right where it says XP now has a two before the ten" was their stoic response.

Turning is face back to me he asked "Explain, what does this do"

Wanting to get this conversation over with I was quick to respond "Every time you kill a monster you get some XP and if you reach the number on the left your level goes up and you get a free point"

"Free point" He inquired.

"If you look at the status you will see numbers next to the attributes like strength, Dexterity, and agility. The free point allows you to increase these making you stronger"

Turning back to the returned group he issues a command "We need to confirm this go and reach the required number then return"

"Yes Sir!!" the group yelled as they saluted, then turned and ran back to the forest.

Watching them go I decided to end this "Alright this is getting annoying being surrounded. Please leave me alone, you all already are in my Tower, and I just want to go check on some things" Not even waiting for them to respond, I simply teleported to the second-floor entrance. Should probably check on He Tun.

Looking around the immediate area I quickly spotted Analay and her child "Hey Analay do you know where He Tun went?"

Standing and bowing; much to my displeasure; she quickly responded "Yes I think he went a straight shot from the entrance with the two boys"

"Thanks, I wanted to go check one of them" I replied then quickly teleported in quick bursts trying to find them.

It took only a few minutes till I found them fighting a few wolves amongst the trees. It looks like they have gotten better at this, they were a lot more coordinated. I quickly pulled up He Tun's status.

Name: He Tun

Class: N/A

Level: 7

XP: 15/40

Strength- 8

Endurance-3

Agility: 5

Constitution: 3

Will: 2

Mind: 1

Spirit: 1

Free point: 1

Skills: [Edge Weapons 3]

It seems he had leveled up a few times, same with his two kids each one was level five. He may be a few floors lower than where the level would suggest but he is untrained, it's normal for them to take it slow. For now, I was just content helping them out.

POV Li Ten

"Sir what do think just happened"

Turning to look at the soldier I had no clue what to say I was as confused as them, the strange man just up and disappeared.

"Do you think it was a spirit?" someone mumbled.

Quick to jump on the easy out I replied quickly "Yes a spirit" now I had people's attention "It's a spirit of the fire nation, here to help us unite the world"

Deciding to wait a few hours I had the soldiers set up a temporary camp near the entrance while we waited for the people, I sent out to return.

It took an hour, but they did return. "Sir we have something to report"

"Well then say it"

"We reached the required number and as the man said we gained a free point that we put into strength"

"And?"

"He was right sir we immediately felt stronger than we had been a moment ago"

"Sir, where is he?"

Not wanting to explain I just said "Don't bother yourselves with that"

"Yes sir! What now sir?" another soldier asked.

"You three" I pointed out "Leave and inform Commander Zhao of this immediately".

"Sir yes sir" They replied, turning and running out of the entrance.

"The rest of us will start hunting things here, so we actually have some evidence that this works the way we were told" I commanded. Perhaps a promotion was in my near future.

POV Callum

I was content to watch He Tun and his kids hunt for a while, but I guess I had to rip the band aid off soon anyways.

"He Tun, come here for a second please" I called out.

Jogging over he was quick to ask, "What is it Callum?".

"I have some unfortunate news" I started "A fire nation patrol has made their way into the tower and are currently on the first floor"

"What?" He practically screamed "Why would you let them in"

"Well as far as I Know I don't actually have the ability to keep people out and I can only keep people from attacking one another on the first five floors"

Looking very stressed, He Tun sank to the ground with his hand on his chin like he was trying to decide something.

"Okay I had decided not to interfere that much, but I guess I should" I started, and with that he stood up most likely hoping I would get rid of them somehow.

"Like I said I can't get rid of them but I can advise you to start moving up the floors, you're already level seven and are stronger than most people. You can most likely do just fine on the next floor and even the one after that"

"Really?" he questioned.

"Yes, If I were you, I would try to go to floor five where the safe zone is, there is something there that will make you much stronger"

"Let me discuss with my family"

"Of course"

I led him back to their camp and watched as he explained the situation to his wife. I could clearly see when he told her about the fire nation as she looked visibly worried, even covering her mouth like you would see in TV shows. It took a few minutes of deliberation but they came to the conclusion they would go up.

"We will go," He Tun said.

"Good. Since this is kindove my fault I will lead you to the boss monsters on the next few floors"

I helped them pack up the tent and other provisions they had collected. Walking with them through the forest I was surprised when we were not attacked during our walk. Cometo think of it, I haven't been attacked all while I have been exploring the floors, maybe as the master of the Tower the monsters won't purposely attack me?

With my direction it only took about fifteen minutes to reach the boss monster who was sleeping in a shallow cave. "Alright this boss is called an Alpha wolf, it is literally just a bigger stronger wolf, as long as you don't get bitten you would be fine"

Turning to his boys, He Tun started giving directions. It seemed they were going with their normal strategy of having each of them in a small crescent formation.

"On three we attack" He Tun said to his boys.

"Right" was their simultaneous response.

"One…two…THREE!" He counted.

They all ran at the world with their swords raised in front of them. They got within a few meters of the cave when the wolf awoke with a start immediately lindging at He Tun. Fortunately he was able to lunge out of the way while one of his sons made a shallow cut on the wolf's side.

The wolf was quick to respond by scratching in a wide arc to make them back off a bit.

"Dad!" both boys yelled.

Looking slightly to the left I noticed that He Tun had taken the opportunity to try and get close but the result was just his left arm getting a small but deep scratch.

"I'm fine, now attack" he yelled.

This time they all moved in at once. It seemed to work though as the wolf didn't know who to attack. Swinging all of their swords simultaneously they were able to quickly dispatch the world. And with its death the tunnel lit up revealing the entrance to the next floor.

"Alright before we go, I should warn you that floor three is full of Lard lizards and Scorpions so watch out for their tails"

"Right"" all three stated.

Entering through the entrance I immediately led them to the boss area where the large salamander was already eating a scorpion.

"Alright this boss is a bit simpler, it's main modes of attack are it's mouth and tail so coming at it from the sides should make this one simpler"

"Let's go," He Tun stated.

With that the three men went to engage the monster. Surprisingly this one went quicker than the last. It only took a minute or two for them to get a good cut on its side then just hacked it to death. It was actually quite disgusting but at least nobody was hurt this time.

"Hey He Tun" I called

"Yes?"

"I just wanted to warn you about the next floor, they aren't the same as before" Now he looked visibly worried.

"What do you mean"

"On the next floor there is a monster called Goblin's they are small only about up to your waist. They are really ugly as well, but they are humanoids"

"Humanoids?"

"Their features are vaguely human-like, they stand on two feet, have hands, two eyes and ears"

"Are they smart?"

"Not really, at least these ones aren't, they seem to have the intelligence of like five-year-old except feral"

"What do you mean Farel?"

"They can and will try to kill anything that they see, like the previous floor the entrance is a sort of safe area so you should probably leave Analay and the kid there till you kill the boss"

"Alright" he said as they started to enter.

"Wait!" I stopped them rushing to catch up.

[Map bought -20 Tower points]

"Here is a map of the fourth and fifth floor, it should help you to find the boss as well as the safe area".

"You are not coming?"

"I will but I want to go check on the Fire nation soldiers, see what they're doing, that's just for while I'm gone or if something sidetracks me".

"Thank you, Callum,"

"No problem It's sort of my fault you're here anyways and I didn't exactly do anything to stop the soldiers so it's the least I could do".

He Tun just scrunched up his face like was thinking, then without saying anything he turned around and entered the next floor with his family. After they had left I teleported to the first floor to check on the soldiers.

Author here if anyone is wondering why it was so easy for them to pass through the floors it's because floors 1-4 are supposed to be like the tutorial just to get you used to the system they are not meant to challenge people very much. Starting at the fifth floor and up it becomes a lot more difficult.

Pleas leave a review. It will help me know how I am doing.
