Lemon and Lime

Azula and Ty Lee were not very happy with the swamp. Mai seemed fine, but still threaten to stab me. For now though I sat perfectly happy on the swamps main tree. I mean despite getting June to agree to help us. She just avoided the swamp entirely, saying it was creepy and she'd prefer to just go around.

"What are you doing?" Mai called up to me from the carriage.

"Testing something!"

I sat down cross legged, breathing in and out. I took out a flask of some of the cactus juice. Taking a sip I put it back. I wasn't well connected with the spirit world and I have tried to use the spirit shifting to access the whole spiritual shit. I found it did not work, but a place like the swamp. Combined with some good old trippy cactus juice? Surely, it would...

"Haha, funny trees..."

-----Ty Lee pov-----

Orin said he wanted to connect with his more spiritual side. I mean I could totally understand, but he sort of lost me when he drank that cactus juice. Azula didn't even question it so I guess there was something she knew.

Orin told us about the swamp and the stuff that's in it. Apparently there were water benders that lived here and he suggested we try to avoid them. It was weird to imagine water benders hiding in a swamp like this, but it had water so it made sense I guess.

------Mai pov-----

I decided to stay on the carriage. The fact Orin's pet could drag the carriage through this muck was awful. I sighed, I did roll up my dress though. Since the carriage got stuck at one point and we had to get out and help get it out.

This place gave me the creeps, screaming birds, Cat-Gators and the constant feeling of being watched. I was pretty sure we were being watched by Boa-Monkeys, but I had a feeling of being watched from the swamp itself.

Friend sleep, thinking on things. Said to have fun so have fun I will. Friend like to eat meat like self. Perhaps gift meat of monsters in water? In trees?

Climb the vines and swing across the swamp. Swamp seems alive, branches move as I do. Not just other creatures, but the trees themselves and the roots that dance. Landing on a branch I see moving mush.

Monster made of vines, makes eye contact we both stare. It seemed human, it moved away from friends. I left it alone, I jumped further in the swamp. Beast tried to strike me from its perch. I grabbed its long neck and twisted. Watched its body drop and splash into the water. Calls from its friends they are in fear.

I continued swing further, I smiled! Found my own food, something that looked amazing. I leaped from the root and landed on another. Grabbing the long bug trying to escape I ate it. Wasn't bad, could be worse.

See beasts, no humans! Like friends. Eyes focused, I looked hard at the humans. They were in a small boat. This boat was wooden like the cart, but there was no steering. Wondered how they moved...

I would watch for a while, until I see the water move. I thought it was one of the swamp monsters, but the instead it was the water itself. The humans bended the elements just like friends. Except they moved water. The water shot towards me and I dodged.

"Hey that critter moved out of the way!"

New humans weren't very nice, I left them by climbing further up the swamp. They were no fun.

-----MC pov-----

Besides the part of tripping balls I did managed to connect or more accurate separate to the spirit world. Entering the spirit world from the swamp brought me to a different Tree. However this one was made of light and horribly bright.

"Who are you?"

I jumped, "Jesus fuck!"

I turned to see some kind of... some kind of...

"What the fuck are you?"

"I'm Mosely, I am a water spirit."

"Ah..."

That wasn't what I was referring to, but I guess that worked. "Well can I ask you where I am?"

The fish, frog, salamander thing shrugged. "The Banyan-Grotto."

That didn't help much, since I didn't know spirit world terrain. Wait shit was the two worlds technically... dI shook my head hoping that thought process was just the cactus juice lingering. "Well Mosely, Can i ask you some questions? If you don't know the answer just say so."

The spirit shrugged, "No skin off my back, go ahead."

Great, "If you are a water spirit do you know if I can contact the moon and ocean spirit to relay a messege?"

Mosely shook his head, "They have no presences in the spirit world anymore so no."

Damn, "I don't suppose you know where the water lion turtle's shell is?"

He blinked slowly, "Huh, not really. If you are looking for it in the human world maybe check water tribe spiritual sites? That guy died somewhere during the Akanzoic era."

Wasn't expecting a dated era, but now I had to ask. "How old are you?"

The creature shrugged, "You think I kept count in human years?"

That was fair. Now was time to focus on the real reason I wanted to do this. Energy bending training. i sat back down and was about to go about my efforts until i thought about it. "Is the Banyan tree a spirit?"

"Something like that, a type of spirit plant tree. Not really a spirit, but ah well you are just human you wouldn't get it."

"Thanks." Well that wasn't very helpful. I focused on the energy of the spirit world, it was much stronger here then in the human world. It made it easy to feel the flow and even easier to control my own. The energy here was much denser so I just needed to focus on my more weightless energy.

"Are you done with questions?"

I shrugged, "Yeah sort of, I wasn't originally gonna ask questions to a spirit anyway. You were jus sort of there."

Mosely nodded, "That is fair... Are you Orin?"

I blinked, "Uh yeah i am. How did you?"

"There have been some rumors about you. I'll give you a warning, some spirits have possessed human bodies since the human war ongoing struggle. An opportunity they saw it was, be-careful of suspicious individuals strange one."

"Thanks, Mosely."

Mosely then began leaning into the water. Causing small ripples, I focused back on my task at hand.
