12 Chapter 12 : The finals and The hand

The next evening after our little outing the Fire Ferrets won their match with some difficulties. It seems Bolin took a big self-confidence hit after Korra brought a different guy to what was supposed to be his date. In addition, Mako was angry with Korra 'leading' Bolin on.

Fire Ferrets teamwork became shit because of that. The match was about the same as the show with Mako and Bolin getting knocked off the arena while Korra came through with a clutch.

Later she apologized to Bolin and explained that she sees him as a good friend and nothing more. He understood her and not long after was back to his cheerful self.

On the subject of pro-bending, the Wolf-bats showed up to their match with buzz cuts as a sign of support for Tahno's hair. Also, they were extra rough on their opponents, more than usual anyway. That anger might bite them in the back later.

Additionally, Amon announced that he was shutting down the pro-bending sport and canceling the finals. Something about time to stop worshipping benders as heroes.

The outcome of that was the Council almost complying to his demands before Chief Beifong stepped in and guaranteed extra security during the Championship match.

*Pro-bending Arena*

"The anticipation is palpable as we are moments away from the Championship march." The commentator's voice rings in the full arena.

"Will the Wolf-bats ferocity help them repeat as champs, or will the underdog Fire Ferrets serve up a surprising bowl of smackdown soup?"

"Introducing the challengers, the Future Industries Fire Ferrets!"

Korra's team appears and the cheers ensue. When they get onto the arena Pabu does a cute dance and jumps through the hole made in an earth disk.

"Show them how it's done, Pabu! Yeah!" Standing outside the arena in the stands I started screaming and clapping for him.

Chief Beifong who is beside me sighs in resignation, already being used to my antics after working with me a few times while Tenzin facepalms trying to hide his shame.

"And their opponents, the three-time defending champions, the White Falls Wolf-bats."

Those losers show up in costumes of Wolf-bats and start howling as a firework show begins.

"Boo! Go suck it Wolf-bats!" Pabu has way more talent in my opinion.

"The chaps and challengers face off at the centerline. And here we go!" The match starts.

"Tahno tries to clean the Avatar's clock with some dirty water-boxing!" The commentator does his job.

The rest of round one was filled with illegal and foul moves done by Wolf-bats. Housing fouls, bending out of their zone, illegal ice moves. And the ref didn't call a single thing, it was clear he was paid off.

"Come on, refs! There was so funny business in that last play!" Tenzin gets worked up.

"Wouldn't have guessed you knew the rules of Pro-bending." Chief finds this unusual for our peaceful airbender.

"I've been brushing up."

"No need to be embarrassed Master Tenzin, we all want to have some excitement in our lives. Meditating all day must get boring after a while." I tell him in a teasing voice.

He ignores my comment by diverting the conversation. "That Wolf-bat blatantly used an ice move."

Lin and I snicker at him.

"It's a knockout!" This gets our attention back. "The Wolf-bats win the championship for the fourth year in a… Hold on a second, folks! Scratch that. The Fire Ferrets ate still alive! But just barely!"

Korra saves her team from losing by holding onto the edge of the arena with one hand and Mako with the other. She throws him back up and they survive till round two.

In round two the Fire Ferrets hold on until a tie-breaker between Korra and Tahno. She beautifully knocks him back by purposely missing a water shot and quickly following it up with a real one right under his chin while Tahno was lured into a false sense of security.

"I can't believe that the sweet-tempered Aang was reincarnated into that girl. She's tough as nails." Speaks out Lin.

"Is that praise I hear Chief?" I ask her as the first time I received some praise from her was when I put a fifth of triad behind the bars. All I got was 'You're ok'.

"Just an observation."

"Admit it, you like her. Korra reminds me of you without the seriousness and grumpiness. You know you will have to work with her sooner or later. You might as well give her a chance." Hmph is all I get from the tsundere before we return our eyes to the game.

Too bad the game was stacked against our friends from the start. In the third round, the buzz-cut trio seems to have lost their sanity. They just started plain bending and didn't use anything even remotely close to pro-bending moves. Who knew losing hair can have such an effect on a person.

Needless to say, the Fire Ferrets flew out of the ring before they realized what happened. For some reason, the ref still gave the win to the Wolf-bats. It became unusually silent in the stands before I was the first to speak up.

"Cheaters!"

And the whole building broke out with boo's, screams of righteous indignation, and a whole lot of swears. I even noted some new cuss words down for later use.

The referee was sweating buckets but whatever was involved in this was enough for him to throw away his credibility and any chance to continue his job anymore.

At that moment the equalists decided it was the time to come out. The members hiding in the crowd put on their masks and brought out the electric gloves.

Metalbender cops started dropping like flies. I managed to dodge the guy coming for me but Lin and Tenzin were too slow. The three equalists closing in on me were all males so I decided to use the first move I ever learned on them, the move that no man can resist.

With a stomp of my foot, three pillars shot up right under my opponents aimed right at the family jewels.

"""Eekkk!""" Three girly screams can be heard from them before collapsing.

"Omashu Nutcracker sends his regards."

Knowing that Lin and Tenzin will wake up shortly I leave them there and with a running head start I jump out of the stands and into the water below.

Surfing I see my friends being tied to one of the poles under the arena by the mustache guy.

Swimming up to the wooden platform I tried to act sneaky and get behind him but the bodies of the Wolf-bats hitting the water after Amon took their bending gave my location away. He rushed at me with his electric batons without any hesitation.

"Hanzo be careful." Korra calls out in concern.

With no time to waste I created three lava shurikens out of the rocks I carry with me and threw them towards him.

The mustache guy avoided them by bending his body backward. Big mistake. I pulled the lava shurikens back with a bit of effort because of the distance. When he stood up straight he had to dodge them again but this time one hit his back.

"Aghh!" With a scream of pain, he fell into the water.

With my enemy out of the way I took out my knife and cut the rope binding Korra and others. In the background, Amon could be heard finishing up his speech.

"My followers and I will not rest until the entire city achieves equality. And once that goal is achieved, we will equalize the rest of the world. The revolution has begun!"

An explosion went off on top of the arena as Amon left the building via ropes attached to an airship above the arena.

Korra, not one to wait, slid on the water by creating a layer of ice to get a better look at the situation.

"I'm going after Amon!" She told us before getting ready to jump into the water.

"Wait! You can't do this alone again!" I yell at her.

"I have to!" Korra stubbornly stated.

She jumped into the water and created a whirlpool under herself before shooting up into the air. The whirlpool only got half of the way up and then collapsed making her fall. Good thing Lin couth Korra with her metal whip and helped her get the rest of the way.

"That idiot! You two, make sure the guy I fought doesn't escape. I'm going after Korra." I tell them and rush after her

*Korra pov*

With Chief Beifong's help, I managed to fly up high enough to one of the ropes the equalists are using to get away. I sent a fire blast at them and caught one of the ropes. Looking up I see Amon staring down at me.

I sent another more powerful blast of fire up into the cabin but I doubt it did much damage.

Finally getting time to breathe and take in the surrounding situation I can see airships going down in flames, ships sinking and the Pro-bending arena on fire. It's horrible.

But my moment of peace gets ruined by the rope I'm holding on to, losing tension. It seems like they cut it. I crash through a glass panel and get caught again by a metal whip but this time Beifong lowers us to the stands.

"You all right?" Lin asks.

"I'm fine thanks to you." I replied.

"Don't mention it, kid."

Our conversation is interrupted by the arena's glass dome that started to create creaking noises as if it's giving away or to be more specific it was the metal holding glass in place that was making the noise.

Then suddenly most of the metal started twisting towards the middle and shot up to where Amon's airship was. The highest point exploded into a rough shape of a hand that was as if reaching up to take the airship.

Unfortunately, the hand only managed to leave long gashes on the bottom of the airship with its fingers before Amon got away.

"Take cover! Glass!" Chief Beifong woke up all of the people left in the arena from their awe-induced daze and we all took cover from giant plains of glass falling down.

After the coast was clear everyone popped their head out of wherever they were hiding to see an even more destroyed arena with glass shards stuck everywhere.

But the most bizarre thing in this situation is Hanzo lowering himself from the giant hand with a metal whip wearing a metalbender officer suit that was a bit too small for him.

He walked over to a guy who for some reason was in his undies and took off the suit before saluting him. "Thank you for the assistance officer." And started walking out of the arena or tried to before Beifong called out his name in full volume.

"Hanzo!"

He stopped in his tracks before breaking out into a full sprint.

"Catch him! Now!"

Author's note:

Hi guys!

I started this chapter with two goals. First to start changing the plot as this should be a fanfic and not a rewrite of the show and second to showcase Hanzo's power when he gets serious. I don't know if I succeeded as you will be the judge of that but personally, I think I did pretty well.

On another note, I realized that I suck at writing action. If not for writing, rewriting, and completely scraping fighting scenes this chapter would have been released about five hours earlier.

If you have any tips on writing action I would greatly appreciate it.
