University of Legends

EPISODE 10

The University of Legends is quite an intriguing figure of excellence. It stretches far across the lands of Vis and is home to the most powerful humans, which some even term is a nobility on its own. To be enrolled in this school shows the nature of one’s strength and how menacing that human could be. Legends are feared by all, housing the power of destruction itself yet so senile. They stand at the apex of the world yet some bow to kings and others owns their kingship. The rest choose not to interfere in worldly matters as they either feel nonchalant or feel like gods. Although the twelve legends are the most renowned in the world, they are also enemies to each other.

The rays of the sun spread through the corners of the university, with a fresh sense of beauty. Each student rises from their sleep to indulge in their daily affairs, but two boys oversleep during their most important session.

Chocolate, cheese……sausage.

Micheal suddenly wakes up from bed and turns to see Jamphel talking about food in his sleep. He looks at the direction of the window and sees the vivid rays of the sun.

Huff huff…. No, no it’s already past the time for our swordsmanship class. This idiot is still in bed. (fuming in anger).

Pah!!!

Ouch, what’s wrong? Is the school on fire?

If you don’t get out of bed right now, both of as will be smoked by the Sword master, Jamphel!!

Don’t tell me it’s past time for his class. We are dead, we are doomed.

Jamphel, you are the doomed one. I’m running ahead.

Hey, wait! Don’t leave me here, I don’t want to face him alone.

Micheal runs towards the open window and jumps off as he calmly lands on the ground with precision. He makes haste through the compound of the University and tries boosting himself with a strong spring from his right foot. Just as he’s about to boost himself towards the direction of the class, he sees Jamphel above him with a wind propelling boost towards the class.

See you later Micheal!!

You sly…. I can’t let this boy get there before me.

They both boost towards the west in great speed. Micheal stomps the ground and thrusts himself upwards to gain momentum on the rooftops and notices Jamphel is a few steps behind him. He continues leaping skillfully on the rooftops as he tries to grab Jamphel a couple of times, but Jamphel dodges each attempt swiftly leaving Micheal frustrated. They both reach the training grounds of swordsmanship and take a leap in order to descend faster than their nemesis, but Micheal propels himself faster downwards making him descend first.

Yes, I did it!!! Jamphel, supper is on you now. That was some great exercise wasn’t it…

Micheal turns and sees the whole class of swordsmanship staring at him. He turns to search for Jamphel but sees him blended within the crowd.

Well, isn’t this awkward. Hello everyone, I’m just a student passing by. No need to be wary of…

Know your place weakling!

Micheal freezes when he feels a sword placed on his neck. He calmly drops both hands and gulps in fear of it being the sword master. Turning slowly, he shakes in suspense and fear but makes a puzzled face when he sees a student right before him.

Well, who are you?

How dare a commoner does not know his place!!!

The pressure around Micheal intensifies forming cracks on the ground beneath him and the air so tight. Jamphel walks out in an attempt to stop the bloodbath from happening, but is stopped from approaching any further by a girl with a sword fixed towards his neck. Jamphel pauses and looks at the girl intensely.

If you move you lowly self towards that commoner, your head would be rolling on the ground in seconds.

My name is Jamphel, and I don’t think you can even pull that off, little girl.

Dare me!

The girl presses the tip of the sword on the neck of Jamphel, causing a little cut at that area. The blood of Jamphel drips slowly on the tip of the sword as he still holds his fi3erce gaze.

Jamphel, step back.

But boss I can’t let them touch….

Jamphel feels a thick sense of death around him and suddenly steps back. This amazes the girl making her sheathe her sword. She looks at Micheal and sees him shaking in fear with his head dripping with sweat and questions herself about what has gone awry as she didn’t feel any presence. Micheal smiles at the boy with the sword on his neck and smiles gently.

If we have done anything to offend your noble existence, please forgive us. We didn’t know a man of such high caliber as you would be concentrated on lowly commoners such as we.

What was that just now. I felt a thick sense of death from him towards the other commoner but that cannot be just made possible by someone of his status. It would take a master of force itself to have the strength in compressing and concentrating such thickening killing intent. (discussing in his thoughts).

Micheal continues smiling at the boy and makes a turn to leave but is abruptly stopped by the boy who questions him.

I asked who are you? I didn’t say you should blabber about unnecessary comments which hold no depth. I am Von Gladserik the third. Son of the duke of Warris, Northern depths of the kingdom of Vis. Although I hate the stench of commoners being grouped with me, I am certainly a gentleman to others.

I will mention this again Von, I have no intention of meddling in your affairs so why don’t you let me take my friend away so you can continue with your business.

Answer my question, who are you?

The pressure intensifies around Micheal, yet he doesn’t move an inch or make an attempt to fall in weakness. The inner emotions of Micheal intensify as fog begins peeping out of his shadow slowly. Micheal makes attempts to resist the urge of facing the darkness as he feels his future self-knowing towards him. He calms down his head by thinking of the good times he had on earth and abhors any idea of falling for the darkness.

I’m trying to tell you; I am of no need to you, so I suggest you do not bother about someone so unimportant as a man of my nature.

This is what I hate about commoners.

Pow!!!

Von slams the flat side of the sword at the head of Micheal, batting it to the side. Micheal tries standing faintly and sees blood dripping from his head. Von approaches Micheal and kicks him resulting in Micheal puking out blood. Micheal drags his fingers through the ground and stretches his arm in an attempt to stop Von but Von smacks his face again with his foot.

Commoners like you need to stay on the ground when you are told to. Answer questions when you are asked!! That is your only purpose to us. I will not accept any ill actions from any commoner within my midst.

Please stop this.

You want me to stop? Then comport yourself like the slave you are supposed to be! We nobles always stand at the top.

Where is the sword master? I am trying to resist the darkness as much as I can but if he doesn’t stop this, I could lose control and wipe out everyone within the school. (arguing within his thoughts)

Von continues kicking and smacking Micheal as everyone watches in silence out of fear in speaking. The commoners bow their heads in shame as the nobles laugh at the pathetic state of Micheal. Jamphel still shakes in fear as he feels the dense aura of darkness around Micheal getting stronger. The right eye of Micheal turns black as he tries to cover his face and his body begins glitching in a dark pitch. A voice speaks softly to Micheal in a maniacal way.

Are you ready to dance in the darkness with me now? my dear Micheal!!
