The Orange Zone (Entrance exam of Paragon)

In the midst of the dense jungle, two figures flew in the air while dodging a giant worm-like creature leaping towards them.

... Well, both of them weren't exactly flying side by side. One of them was princess carrying the other in their arms.

"This is quite a sight to behold. Don't you agree?" Ryuk asked.

'Shut up. We won't talk about this.' I sighed. If I made a chart of the embarrassing moments of my life, then this is one of the most embarrassing ones among them. 'I hate this so much.'

Yeah... I was being princess carried by Slyvia because my suit's power ran out... This is so embarrassing.

Let's go through what happened a moment ago...

"Shit... Wally's power ran out." I complained, tapping on my suit and turning it back to Wally's spider form.

"Do you have like... A way to recharge it?" Sylvia asked.

"Wally auto recharges by itself, but I need time... I need a lot of time." I replied.

It's not a surprise that it ran out of power. We have been killing mutants while defending ourselves from other candidates non-stop.

Roger and Samuel are probably stealing all the points from others while leisurely enjoying themselves.

Rumble

I can't even catch a break...

The ground under our feet started to shake... It felt like a mini earthquake.

BOOM

Swoosh Crackle

All of a sudden, a giant worm-like mutated creature sprang out of the ground, trying to devour me. I dodged it, however...

"Is that a C-Rank mutant?" I asked. "Shit, that's a B-Rank! We need to run-" Before I could finish my words, Sylvia picked me up and flew off, I was at a loss for words, I didn't know what to say, I did not expect her to do something like this. THIS IS EMBARASSING FOR GOD'S SAKE! I couldn't even tell her to drop me because that would be suicide.

"Seriously? I could have run away." I complained.

"Not when you don't have anything to step on, and that thing moves like a piñata." Sylvia retorted. "I thought worms were mostly vegan."

"Not exactly, they eat decaying matter as well... Oh... It came for the mutants that we killed on the way..." I said. "That explains a lot."

"Do you think, we could take on a B-Rank mutant?" Sylvia asked.

"Probably... No... I know what you are thinking but we should leave right now, I can't damage it without my suit." I replied.

"You are too reliant on your suit," Sylvia remarked.

"There are three things I can rely on currently, you, my suit and my brain because having a meta ability without any brain power is like making a donkey the leader of a wolf pack," I explained. "Unless my suit is recharged, we can't kill that thing, trust me. We should leave for now, we can put a tracker on it and come back later."

"Alright."

I may have said that but, the real reason, I didn't kill that thing was because Samuel had a fight with a B-Rank worm mutant in the main timeline/ my novel. As you know, there aren't many B-Ranks in an orange zone, which means Samuel is nearby... I can't meet him just yet.

"Also... If we fight something like that, we would leave ourselves to be vulnerable to the other candidates... And would you look at that..." I turned my head towards the mutant, watching a group making their way towards it. "The birthday boy is rushing towards the piñata..."

"Is that the otherworlder?" Sylvia asked.

"Yeah, that's our target... Let's go, our job is done here, we got enough points to pass the exam, let's fly away before they see us." I replied.

Swoosh

"It certainly feels different from flying inside the suit. It feels so refreshing," I said.

I have to say, although I find myself in an awfully embarrassing position, I do enjoy this moment.

"Right? I told you that it felt amazing, we should do this more often," Sylvia smiled.

"No... No way... Even if we do, hold me by the collar or something, this position is embarrassing for me," I replied.

"But I thought you were enjoying this..." Ryuk remarked.

'What is wrong with you?' I asked Ryuk.

"What do you find more embarrassing? Being carried by a girl like a princess or dying by over-exhaustion. I think the second is the right answer." Ryuk smirked. "You could have had so many different types of death but instead of enjoying your life to the fullest, you died due to your stupid novel..."

'... Did you really have to bring that up?' I asked.

"I am telling you to enjoy these moments while it lasts, trust me... Not everyone gets a second chance..." Ryuk sighed. "You know... It's not always that moments like this come around... I know that better than anyone... I don't think anyone other than Alfred can understand it... Think of it as a fool's talk... You know the worst part about it kid? Even if I want it to end... It won't... It's an endless circle..."

'I don't understand you... Honestly, I never will... But I will enjoy this moment just to prove you wrong,' I laughed in my mind, annoying Ryuk as he began to shout at me.

"You annoying little twerp!"

Paragon (Professor Holborn's office room)

Professor Holborn's office room was made of acacia wood, and his office was filled with book selves filled with science books, on the opposite side of the door was a desk with a chair on both sides, and behind it was a white layered window.

Professor Holborn and Steve were sitting at opposite sides of the desk while looking at the footage captured by the drones in the Entrance exam in their hologram computers. He was watching over two candidates to be exact, me and Samuel.

"Oh God, this is embarrassing to watch. I should delete this part." Professor Holborn covered his mouth with his hand.

"Hahaha... I can't believe that you got carried like a princess when you were a kid," Steve laughed at him.

Future Ray decided to tell Steve about everything and add him to the team because he was the only one whose mind was strong enough to see through his illusions. It was only a matter of time before he found out everything.

"I didn't invite you here to laugh at me or my past self... We are going to invade the Forest of Life... Take this seriously." Holborn said. "Although we have allied, it doesn't mean that they would let us have their sacred relic. From what I found out... They treat it better than their leader."

"How would we steal it then?" Steve asked. "We certainly don't have the skills to sneak past them, plus the Wayne family has trained their minds for years, Mark Wayne won't fall for your illusions, that's for sure."

"That's only if he finds us. I have an inside man." Future Ray answered. "Did you think that I would put myself at risk like that? All we have to do is sit back and watch... The show has just begun after all."
