A Battle of two Eras (1)

As they walked through the gates of the walled-off grassy terrain filled with beautiful trees and fluttering butterflies, Ben and Nolan were amazed by the picturesque landscape. Nolan was especially taken aback by the beauty of the red zone.

"Wow, I never expected a red zone to be this beautiful," he exclaimed.

Ben, on the other hand, remained calm and composed. "Don't be fooled by the outer beauty of anything. Some zones are like roses, and you may never know where they hide their thorns," he warned, keeping his guard up and unfazed by the beauty of his surroundings.

As they journeyed further, they came across a bubbling spring. Behind it, they caught sight of a gargantuan lizard with red scales and two enormous wings, soundly asleep.

"Is that a dragon? But something like that shouldn't appear here," Nolan wondered. The only dragon they had ever encountered was in Australia, and it was in a black zone. "Is this guy a juvenile?"

"No... He is an adult... We should leave this zone while we can... The both of us aren't enough to kill something like that," Grandpa Ben insisted.

Nolan was ready to follow his order, but as they turned to leave, they saw another dragon with the same features but much smaller than the sleeping one guarding the gate. They were shocked to see not one but two dragons in the same zone, and they couldn't even feel their presence.

"Nolan... Listen carefully... That dragon has put an invisible barrier around the zone, and we can't get out unless we break it. I will find an opening and teleport out of here. I will hold them back as long as possible," Ben ordered.

Nolan couldn't help but grit his teeth, feeling helpless in this situation.

Suddenly, the ground beneath them began to shake, and a minute volcano formed under their feet.

"Dragon tongue..." Ben murmured, grabbing Nolan's hand and teleporting both of them away from danger.

Dragons were masters of mana, and they could use any form of magic without chanting, and their magic was also instant.

"Closed Domain Creation: Shadow Garden!"

The shadow of the dragon began to move on its own.

"Shadow Binding" Nolan chanted, which caused dark chains to wrap around the dragon's mouth, leg, and wings, restricting its movements.

Nolan's meta-ability was known as the strongest ability, thanks to its creative powers that allowed the user to manifest a domain and do whatever they wanted inside it. However, the user's stamina was drained at a very high rate while using it. After awakening it, the user could also choose not to open a domain to save their stamina.

"I'm sorry for being a liability. In this situation, I can't use my illusions, or else the dragon might go crazy and wake up the other dragon," Ben apologized.

"It's alright, Grandpa. I will handle it. Please just teleport me around it. We will defeat it as long as we play it safe," Nolan replied.

The dragon broke free from the restrictions around its mouth and fired a red beam that destroyed everything in its path. Although they teleported away from it, the dragon didn't stop firing its breath. It changed its target from the humans to its shadow, breaking away from the chains that bound it.

The clouds of dust that had covered the area around it slowly disappeared as it came out unscathed. Dragons were beings that were born from mana, and magic attacks were ineffective on them because of their highly magic-resistant scales. However, the moment the dragon freed itself, it found itself in an extraterrestrial plane, a place with no gravity. It was just the dragon and the humans that it was supposed to kill in space.

"Domain Creation: Distorted Plane!"

"Space Distortion!"

The dragon screamed in pain as if a part of it was missing. It then saw a giant liver floating in front of it.

"Gravity Crush!"

The dragon could feel its body getting pushed by gravity from all sides. It tried to open its mouth, but it bit its tongue in the act.

As all hopes seemed to be lost for the juvenile dragon, all of a sudden, the domain shattered.

In the heat of battle, they forgot about the sleeping adult dragon. It breathed fire at the two humans, shattering the domain and costing Grandpa Ben his right arm.

"Grandpa your-" Nolan wanted to say something but was interrupted by Ben.

"Concentrate on the battle... We have a much bigger problem at our hands." Ben said, teleporting them as far as he could. "If we get distracted, it will cost us more than just my arm... The battle has just begun."
