CHAPTER 4

ASLAN’S POV

I found Tyson buried in files when I walked into his cabin. His face was laced with worry.

“Is there a problem, brother?”

“Hmm… The number of werewolves in the city has increased drastically. There have been some attacks too.”

“Didn’t we sign a pact of peace with them? What is so important that they are willing to risk their lives?”

“I think I know what they are after… Look at this…” He said handing me a green file.

My eyebrows furrowed as I asked, “Why are you checking Lina’s profile again? Don’t tell me that you think she is the traitor. Do you have to be so paranoid?”

“I am sure that she is the traitor. She is the one who tipped the werewolves about ‘The Heart of Magic.’”

“You can’t be serious. She saved your life…”

“Just to enter our ranks. I saw something flash in her eyes when I asked to kill the cop that day. Do you know who that cop was?”

“No idea.”

“He is from the Crescent pack.”

I felt like someone had punched me in the gut. How did I not see this coming?

“F***! Lina has taken Aurora for a walk in the garden.”

“Can you not be any more foolish brother?” Tyson said racing to the garden.

We searched for Aurora in every nook of the house but couldn’t find her. She was taken and it was all my fault.

CALEB’S POV

I tapped my foot impatiently as I waited for my sister Lina to arrive. I couldn’t wait to see the one who held the key to The Heart of Magic.

Once I had it, I would become invincible and so would my pack.

My eyes widened in horror as the locket around my neck turned red. A witch had enchanted it for me. It was supposed to turn red when my mate was nearby.

I had no time to get entangled in this stupid mating stuff. My aim was clear. I wanted to raise werewolves to their former glory.

Pressing the button on the hand rest, I commanded, “Don’t let any females through.”

“Umm… boss, your sister is here. Should we stop her too?”

“No, let her come.”

The way she fought alongside often made me forget that Lina was a girl. I couldn’t wait to meet her.

I closed my eyes involuntarily as a strong scent of milk and chocolate filled my nose. It was my favorite scent as a kid. My mate had to be somewhere nearby.

I shook my head and opened my eyes to find Lina standing with a girl in her arms. I walked down the stairs, drawn to her.

My world shifted on its axis when my eyes fell on the girl’s face; marble-like skin, plump lips, a rounded face, and sharp eyebrows. Her hair cascaded like a brown waterfall.

The word ‘Mate’ popped into my head jolting me to reality. I opened my mouth to reject her but the words refused to come out.

I felt this intense desire to hold her. It was as if each pore in my body was craving her touch. Before I knew it, I had taken her into my arms. A wave of pleasure coursed through me as her body came in contact with mine.

I carried her to my throne and seated her on my lap.

“You are welcome.” My sister sarcastic tone brought me back to reality. I wanted to dump the girl in my arms but I found that it was impossible. So, I turned my attention to my sister.

“I am your Alpha and you are bound to do my bidding.”

“Can’t you be polite just for once?”

“Touche sister. I think your stay with those flamers has made you weak.”

“Hardly brother. I learned a new level of ruthlessness. You will be proud of me.”

My heart sank at her statement. This wasn’t going to be good, “ What did you do?”

She exhaled deeply and said, “They made me kill Connor.”

My canines elongated as my blood boiled, “M****R F*****S! We will make them pay for this!”

Lina just nodded her head and went to her room. She was upset. After all, Connor was like a mentor to her.

“Alpha, our men are waiting for you to finalize their strategies.” My beta, Adrian said as he walked in.

The werewolves threw weird looks at me when they saw me carry Aurora but no one dared to say anything. Once I was seated at the head of the table, Adrian began his presentation.

“We will attack the Flamers on Friday when their powers are the weakest. Loren will raid their arms factory and destroy it.

Mori will take over their power stations while I will take a battalion and attack their mansion.

Thanks to Lina, we have all the intel needed.”

“Hmmm… she did her job well…”

“The real credit goes to you Alpha. If you hadn’t sent in Connor, she wouldn’t get a chance to win their trust.”

“Great objectives require great sacrifices. We will avenge his death by killing those Flamers.”

The men left after the meeting was over leaving me alone with Aurora.

She looked so beautiful while she slept that I couldn’t restrain myself. I lowered my head and was about to kiss her when her eyes snapped open.

They were the deepest of the blue I had ever seen. My heart turned into mush as I got lost in them…
