Chapter 10: Nightmare

'Why are there so many, it makes no sense' thought Klemens as he killed the umpteenth titan, he had long since lost count of how many he had killed.

At this point he was basically acting like a pendulum, he waited for the titan to enter and shot toward the back of its neck, killing it before it could step further.

Thanks to him alone still no titan had breached the wall, but he still had to rest or replenish his gas and blades reserves, making it so that he had no choice, but to leave his slaughter of titans and go back to the top of the wall.

But it was at those moments that it came Liesl's time to shine, she came down from the top and rained death upon any unlucky titan that entered through the hole.

She wasn't as fast as her friend and she seemed to take much more time than him in killing titans, but that wasn't entirely without its pros.

She wasn't completely killing them, but cutting their tendons in arms, legs and jaws, creating a literal wall of flesh that temporarily stopped other titans from entering.

It was an extremely dangerous tactic, maybe even stupid as killing them faster would stop them from potentially cause harm in a moment of distraction, but that wasn't the case for Liesl.

Thanks to her monstrous she could predict every single movement the titans made before they even made it, anyone else in her place would have long since died, but Klemens knew that she wasn't doing it because she thought that was the best course of action.

Her real reason for doing so was far dumber.

'She's getting off on the danger, that moron' he could see her squirm a little as she was looking at her monstrous wall of titans that couldn't move.

At the beginning there was only one, a small four meters, so the second titan, a ten meters, had ignored its motionless body completely and kept walking toward the city, but it was at that moment that she came and cut off its movement, making it fall down right above the body of the first and blocking the way to the titans behind it.

The third one had to climb on the second one, but when it was doing so she cut him off too, at that point it was only a matter of time, the titans below couldn't move at they were trapped by those above them even if they had regenerated and more and more titans start climbing and having their tendons cut off.

Those witnessing her gross display of savageness were completely dumbfounded, how could such a cute girl do such monstrous acts with a bright smile on her face?

All the while Klemens had finally rested enough and got back to the fight, but before that he had a thing or two to tell her.

She was currently looking at her grotesque flesh wall of flailing titans with a satisfied smile on her face, which pissed him of so he slapped the back of her head from behind.

"Ow, why did you do that?" she asked, which he ignored completely.

"Hey moron, why would such a disgusting thing?" he asked with a bitter smile on his face, he didn't need her instincts to predict her answer after all their years together.

"I mean, there are a fuck ton of titans right? So I thought 'how could I stop them from entering?' and this is the answer I came to" she replied describing her thought process, clearly enough to make him realize she was lying.

"That's what you'll tell others, what about the real answer?"

"It mean, why not? It seemed fun" with a smug smile on her face that made Klemens what to punch her, but that had to wait, as the titan at the top had finally regenerated and was beginning to climb down the mound of flesh.

"This is really disgusting" he said as he cut the news of those few at the top, this gave him until the firsts disappeared to think of the best way to kill them all without letting go of even a single one.

Meanwhile, a different group had just arrived "What the fuck is that?"

Three hours before a certain mountain started falling apart.

"Sir!" shouted a soldier of the garrison as he interrupted his superior's tea time.

"What is it Michael?" asked the superior, mildly irritated about the interruption.

"It's a disaster sir, the colossal titan appeared and opened a hole in Wall Rose, as we're speaking titans seems to be entering the city!"

"What?! Immediately send someone to report the news to Commander Pixis and start the evacuation"

"Yes sir!" immediately replied the soldier, what he didn't know was that the evacuation was already underway following the orders of a certain cadet.

Half the city had seen the colossal titan breaking the wall so they lost no time running away.

Thanks to the speedy actions of the cadets and the lack of titans actually entering the city because of two people who are imprinting themselves in the mind of anyone watching their display of power, the evacuation was going with no problem and no fatalities.

"Report on the fatalities soldier" demanded Commander Pixis to the soldier who came to report the situation.

"I came immediately after the breach sir, I haven't received news on what happened after" replied the soldier.

"Mmh... well, we'll know when we reach there, for now we need to send all personnel available to help with the evacuation and protect the citizens"

The group then left the castle where the commander was previously playing chess with a noble after leaving him alone, he had much more important things to do now, after all.

Two hours after the breach.

A captain of the Garrison was currently waiting for news while safely waiting behind the wall that separated the Trost District and the territory inside Wall Rose, when he heard the report about the breach entering Trost to fight was the last of his worries.

"Sir, news about the breach" said a soldier, Michael, with a very complicated expression on his face.

"Michael, you're finally here" said the captain as he wiped cold sweat from his forehead "How is the evacuation going and how are the predicted fatalities? How many titans have approximately entered Trost?

The soldier didn't know what to report first, but decided that going with the most important thing first would be ideal "None sir, titans have yet to enter the district"

This left the captain confused, when this happened at Shiganshina titans entered immediately, how come it's different this time?

"Explain soldier, is there no titan in the immediate vicinity of the breach?"

"Sir, the amount of titan near the breach is staggering and an enormous number has tried to enter through the breach, a group of cadets took the situation into their hands and started the evacuation and sent a group to report.

They are apparently currently engaging with any titan that goes through the breach not leaving a single one to cause havoc"

"What?!" this was absurd, a group of recruits fresh of the training camp were fighting and successfully killing any titan that invaded "What about the casualties among those fighting, how are our losses?"

But suddenly a voice was heard from behind them "Yes, I would like to know that too"

The two turned around to see who it was that spoke and right after saluted "Commander Pixis"

"At ease, go on with the report soldier"

"Yes sir" poor Michael now had difficulty explaining what was reported to him, even he still had trouble understanding what was reported, he even thought that it was a joke if not for the severity of the situation.

"Our losses are zero, no cadet or soldier has fallen since the appearance of the colossal titan"

"How?" the captain was confused, it was earlier reported that an enormous number of titans was near the breach, he knew about the continuous losses of the survey corps against titans, how could some recruits survive for so long with no casualties?

While the captain was dumbfounded for the umpteenth time, Commander Pixis kept his cool "Keep going soldier" he said with his usual cool voice.

"Yes sir, apparently, the two top cadets of the current batch, Klemens Ackerman and Liesl Stark, have taken command, first of all they sent two people to report, one of which was the nearest when the colossal appeared and had engaged with the titan.

They then divided the cadets they had available in three groups, one to help evacuate, one to stock up in gas and blades and the remaining as lookout for any titans nearing the breach.

The two are currently engaging with any titan by themselves taking turns and are eliminating any single titan without exception"

The soldier was still incredulous, he had all the intentions to check on the situation himself to make sure of what the report said, but he had the duty to pass the report to his superiors.

"Then, when reinforcements from the garrison came, the girl, Liesl Stark, told the soldiers to follow her orders and took command despite having no rank, apparently the soldiers gave up command voluntarily"

"This is great news, almost too great" said Commander Pixis, who then turned to look at the captain "I'll go see the situation with my own eyes, you'll remain here and keep coordinating the evacuation efforts"

"Yes, sir" replied the captain.

"What the fuck is this?" said a blond haired woman with a small build, Rico Brzenska, an elite soldier of the Garrison, the sight in front of her was something that she would keep finding in her nightmares until her last day.

In front of her was the fifty meters high Wall Rose, currently with a hole were the door once was, but that hole was currently mostly covered by a great amount of titans amassed one over the other, those at the top were dissolving.

There were parts of titans at the top dissolving as they had just been killed, she could see a black haired person swinging left and right harvesting multiple necks of titans every time he passed.

To her it looked like a scene from hell, a mountain of mutilated titans wiggling their still regrowing body parts.

As the report said, no titan left the place alive, what it failed to say, however, was the brutal and crude tactics that the two cadets were currently employing.

She almost felt pity for those titans.

Almost.

What she felt the most was terror, not of the perpetrator of the brutality, but of the titans themselves.

'How many would have died if not for those two cadets'

The boy kept swinging and soon all the titans were cleared out, seeing that no titan was currently entering he remained attached to the wall.

He then looked up at the woman who caused the mountain in the first place and shouted "Lie! If you dare to make another mountain I'll throw you out as bait!"

Seeing him threaten her made her laugh, not at all taking it seriously, and replied "I'll make as many mountains as I want!"

"..." he didn't know what to answer, he was so speechless that he had to count on the classical insults "Fuck you!"

"Go ahead!" she countered.

"Aargh!" he groaned, deciding to take out his frustration on the poor titan that was currently going through the breach, cutting off all of its limbs and then ending it.

He looked up, only to see his friend's smug smile, to which he showed his middle finger.

The group of elites of the garrison that had just arrived was speechless at the childishness that the two displayed, when they heard that they took command and were killing all the titans alone they imagined some serious man, like Levi, but what greeted them was a series of insults, a mountain of dead titans and sexual innuendos.

Commander Pixis chuckled a little, before eventually saying "Let's wait here, I'd like to have a discussion with those two, but we'll interrupt them only when the evacuation is completed, I'll trust these two young ones with this place temporarily, seeing that they have the time to joke around"

He then turned at the side and told a soldier "Tell the man of the garrison to help these two in any way possible as long as the evacuation is going on, and tell them to bring them more supplies"

"Yes, sir"

The commander, accompanied by his most elite soldiers then stood there, seeing the massacre continue to the point that no titan entered the breach anymore.
