CHAPTER - 1 { Lost Something Precious }

Year- 845

Time- Noon

Location- Shiganshina District

It is a town located on the south edge of Wall Maria. The district is built within an outcrop of Wall Maria.

Since Shiganshina is located to the south, Titans usually came to this district's Walls in an attempt to consume humans, but weren't able to break through.

Inside a house of two stories, on the first floor. A young boy about 12 years old opened his eyes.

"Haah!"

Yawning, he got up from the bed and went down stairs. He was greeted by the sight of his father sitting and reading a newspaper in the living room.

"Morning papa!"

The boy sneaked behind his father and said loudly giving him a fright.

"You!"

The father grabbed the boy by his head and crushed it between his arms.

"Ouch! Sorry! Sorry!"

The boy struggled and begged, only then did his father let him go.

"You have become very notorious! I will complain to your mom about this later."

His father said angrily. The boy lowered his head and became sluggish.

"Haha!"

Suddenly, the boy heard loud laughter. He raised his head to see that his father held his stomach while he laughed.

"Hahah! Look at your face!"

The boy was shocked then his face turned into a frown seeing his father enjoy it.

"I won't talk with you ever again!"

The boy shouted and headed towards the kitchen when his mother was preparing their breakfast.

"Haha!"

But his father didn't seem to care even a bit as he continued to laugh wholeheartedly.

"Mom! See papa! He is making fun of me!"

The boy sat on the chair beside the dinning table as he complained to his mother.

"Sweetie, leave that man alone. He is just that way. He even makes fun of me, his own wife."

The mother stopped and looked at the boy bitterly. Her eyes looked quite sad as the boy felt the same.

"But sweetie, it's really fun to make you a fool! Hahha!"

Suddenly, even his mother started to make fun and laugh. The boy was stunned with his mouth wide open.

With a ugly face, the boy now kept quiet even if his mother came near him to console.

"Sorry!"

The mother touched her earlobes and made an apologetic expression.

"Hmph!"

The boy pouted and turned his face away from his mother.

While it went on, there was a huge crisis about to befall on humanity.

Boom!

The wall that had sustained protection to Shiganshina for years, was breached.

No one in Shiganshina believed what just happened. Tens of huge figures entered inside the walls.

These humanoid giants, resembled human but didn't have sexual organs in their bodies.

Also, many of their bodies weren't in proper proportions. Some had huge heads while small bodies, some bigger hands and smaller legs.

Even so, these creatures, called Titan, were huge. The smallest were still more than 3 meters in height.

"Ahh!"

"Save me!"

Many of the people couldn't escape as they got caught by the titans who directly bit on them.

Blood and bits of flesh splashed all over the grounds.

Many houses were destroyed by these titans who seemed determined to eat all the humans.

Currently, the Shiganshina District, which was once a safe place to stay because of the tall walls, has now become a cage for the people.

There were two gates, one side was breached so that was of course a no go.

The other was exactly opposite to that gate, which led to the inner area of Wall Maria.

"Mom?"

The boy looked down on his mother who lay motionless. Half of her body was crushed by a pillar.

Purple veins appeared on her forehead as the blood flow in her body was stopped. Even her skin was turning cold.

"Papa, look what happened to mom."

The boy turned around and went towards the living room where his father was.

But before he reached the living room, he had to cross the collapsed ceiling, walls and debris.

The dust and smoke almost blocked the boy's entire vision. He couldn't even look past a few meters in distance.

A noise made the boy stop his climb on a huge piece of wall, the source wasn't far.

The sunlight was blocked making it even more difficult for the boy to see.

Crunch.

The sound of munching was loud and clear to the boy. A huge shadow covered the entire collapsed house.

The shadow moved, it came closer and closer towards the boy which caused him to step back in fear.

Thud.

The boy hit his back on the table. The shadow stopped its movement.

Then it crouched down to pick something up from the living room of the house.

The boy gritted his teeth and wiped his tears off his face. Gathering courage, he climbed the broken wall to see what the shadow truly was.

And so, the boy finally saw it.

A Titan about 6 meters tall. On the titan's hands was a corpse of a male.

"N-No! No!"

The boy with wide open eyes, watched the huge titan put his father inside his mouth.

Crunch!

The titan bit down on the corpse as its strong teeth broke the bones easily like it was nothing.

Whether it was because of all the dust and first covering the boy who stopped in its own shadow, the titan didn't notice him.

Nothing to eat here, the titan headed towards the center where more humans were running for their lives.

"Huh?"

The boy tilted his head, he was confused. He couldn't comprehend his situation.

His hands, which were shaking, slowly rose up to touch his face. First the mouth, then nose and lastly the eyes.

When he felt his eyes, the boy seemed even more puzzled.

"Why? Why are my eyes not closing?"

The boy muttered, his eyes which were letting out streams of tears didn't close.

The entire time, when the titan appeared to when it left, his eyes didn't close.

He watched everything, unhindered.

But as he tried harder, his eyes at last closed. Yet, his tears didn't show any sign of stopping.

The boy went outside his house, which now was half collapsed and destroyed due to it being directly next to the wall which was breached.

The houses around his were also in a similar state, smoke rose in the sky with various cries and shouts.

The boy stood in the middle of the road, which went straight to the center of the town.

His light brown eyes observed everything. The titans chased the humans to eat them.

While the humans ran to escape being eaten.

"I, I lost my family. The town is breached. Titans run free inside the walls."

Saying so, the boy walked forward towards the other gate which was currently filled up with people.

All the emotions in his eyes vanished. He was indifferent to the sight of gore all around the road.

What was his purpose now?

Revenge?

Killing the titan wasn't a dream. There is a special group formed to hunt these titans down.

He could join them after going through the training camp but why should he?

"What has happened to me?"

The boy reached the center of the town without any of the titans appearing before him.

Was it luck?

Or is fate?

But one thing is sure, that on this day, the boy lost something precious in him.

Something that made him a human.
