Chapter 15 Western Air Temple

The both left the city and headed to the edge of woods. Since is turned day time again, Kypher chose to start traveling immediately to finally reach his final destination before the story begins,

The Western Air Temple...

------------------------------------------------------

After several stops and breaks, it took the duo a full day to finally reach the air temple. Retu was enamored by the unique architecture of the buildings, and who wouldn't be? The structures were inverted and even Kypher, who was familiar with the place, was amazed. The view from the temple was breathtaking, making it a perfect location for their future base.

Once Kypher had selected the most spacious and visible temple, he called out to Retu.

"Alright, now that we've arrived," he caught Retu's attention, "there are three things you need to do. Firstly, process everything you saw at the ancient city," Retu nodded in agreement. "Secondly, learn the locations of chi-points and the basics of chi-blocking," another nod from Retu. "And thirdly, master a weapon." Retu seemed like he was about to protest, but Kypher continued, "I already have a weapon in mind for you. I'll head to the nearby village to find a blacksmith, so focus on the first two tasks for now." With a sigh, Retu walked off to select a room in the temple that Kypher had chosen out of many options.

Kypher, on the other hand, packed a few materials from his bag and grabbed his staff before taking off to search for a blacksmith. Interestingly, it took him two villages to finally find one with a blacksmith. Of course, no one noticed him. He was flying at breakneck speeds and concealing his position by soaring above the clouds.

The moment Kypher walked into the blacksmith shop, the gruff voice of the blacksmith asked, "Hey kid, what do you want?"

"I need some custom-made equipment. I have the materials and money on me. What currency do you accept?" Kypher replied.

The blacksmith grunted and disappeared inside the shop, returning with a piece of paper and a charcoal stick. "Draw me what you want made. We only accept Fire Nation currency," he said.

Kypher nodded and took the charcoal, spending some time sketching until he finished the blueprint. The blacksmith impatiently grabbed the paper. "Is that all? How large do you want them, and how many?" he asked.

"I need six of them, all the size of that silver plate over there," Kypher replied, pointing to a plate in the shop. The blacksmith accepted the job and Kypher handed over the steel and iron he had collected from the Sun City. "Give me a day," the blacksmith said before disappearing into the shop.

Kypher just watched as the man left before leaving for the temple.

Once arriving he saw Retu just sitting in the lotus position near the edge of the temple, mediating. Seeing that, he chose not to disturb and continue on with his training. There was still much for him to master...

Morning arrived before the duo even realised, and after a light meal, both continued on with what they were doing. It only later in the day did Kypher pause his training to go fetch the weapon he asked the blacksmith to make.

"It was a weird one for sure. First time I ever made something like this. You sure about the practicality of this?" The blacksmith asked with confusion. Kypher just let out a small chuckle, withholding any information about the item, before giving to Retu, whose reaction was similar.

"What is this. Is it a disc? How do you use this? And what are the hooks for?" Kypher just grinned at the curious man.

"Ok listen up, This here is called a Chakram. Its an old weapon that is usually looked down upon, by everybody." He grabbed on the silver circles. "The hooks are attacked to you belt and are made for ease of access." He demonstrated by hooking one of the discs onto his hip.

"Their main uses are for long range however they are also used for close combat." He gave an example, chucking one at the wall near them. The disc collided with the stone wall and jammed its self into the stone. "They are very dangerous at the right hands". He walked over and yanked out the chakram. He then started showing the basics to Retu, who was starting to get numb from all the surprised he's been exposed to.'How and why does one attempt master something like this?' he asked himself, but then ignored the thought, 'Who else other than Kai'.

"This is a hammer grip for under hand throws" He demonstrated, "This is the pinching grip for over hand throws" again he demonstrated. "That's all for now. Go chuck it at a wall for a few hours every day to practise your aim." Kypher stated after explaining the basics, before walking back to his mediation spot, leaving Retu standing there, who just sighed at his friends behaviour before doing as he was asked.

-------------------------------------------

And so, a year passed in a blink of an eye. Kypher training his fire bending and lightning bending, as well as his sword and dagger mastery, while Retu was training fire bending, basic lightning redirection and chakram mastery. Although it took him a few days to fully comprehend what he saw at the ancient city, his fire bending grew in leaps and bounds.

Kypher, on the other hand, had reached a bottleneck in his air bending, as well as his lightning bending. He had hoped to learn a bit from the dragons, but was disappointed, over the fact that only his fire bending grew...

Currently, Kypher and Retu were sitting around a campfire they made. It was a way to relax for them to relax from training and enjoy their time here.

"SHADE!" Kypher called out, "Get over here NOW!"

A black shadow appeared from above them and landed on Kypher's shoulder. The bird was quite large for its age. It was the size of hawk. This bird was shade, Kypher's familiar.

Funnily enough, the black stone, that he had found siting on the pedestal, on his way to the fire nation , was apparently not a stone but and egg. And the creature inside was a Alicanto, a mythological creature, similar to a phoenix, yet it is a nocturnal bird, with its wings resembling a mechanical bird's wings. Usually they were supposed to be golden in colour.

This chick however had a shiny black colour coat with some red lining in its feathers. It looked so robotic yet it was a real living creature.

The day Kypher found that the chick hatched he was busting from excitement. It was just a few moments after he had woken up, he had made it a habit to check on the egg and place it on the desk inside the room. That morning however he was awoken with a chirp and multiple pecks on the head, which reminded him of the old avian bastard, he left in the library.

After opening his eyes and finding the black chick sitting on his chest, playing around with his clothes, he was beyond confused until he saw the pieces of the hatched egg on his desk. after a while of consideration and some help from Retu, who was overly excited for their new companion, the chick was named "Shade" after its annoying habit of blending into the shadow. Of course shadow was too cringy, so they decided on shade. It was cool, short, and Shade liked it.

After giving his familiar a small piece of the meat, the two benders dug into the food. A few seconds into dinner however Kypher paused and called out to the darkness. "Come out. An encirclement won't help you, if you try to attack us..."
