Side Story: Josento's Origin

    In a small fiefdom named Lichten lived a family of three Willard, Rosalie, and Josento McFadden. Willard was a man over six foot tall with jet black hair and very defined features with sharp blue eyes. Rosalie was a five foot woman with black hair with some blue highlights and brown eyes. She could match the most beautiful women in the capital. Josento was eight at this time getting ready for his birthday the next day. His parents were worried for him since he had not developed any abilities. They were considering dropping him off at an orphanage and finding a new heir to watch over the fiefdom.

    Josento's father had the ability to make small sparks on his fingers that he could transfer to his weapon. Josento's mother had an extreme amount of electricity running through her body which boosted her reactions and could also transfer it to her husband. Josento spent most of his time outside reading underneath a tree close to his family mansion. He had no friends to spend his time with and the only time his parents spoke to him was on special occasions and holidays.

    Josento wanted his parents to acknowledge him so he would train everyday to make his ability appear. He gave everything he had during his training no matter how dangerous. Since his birthday was tomorrow he decided to skip training and find something to play with. He didn't have any toys to play with but he found a stick to swing around. Swinging the stick until nightfall he went to his room and grabbed a book before heading to bed.

    He woke the next morning excited for his small party but he noticed dark clouds heading for his house. He made his way downstairs to the dining room where his parents were waiting with a small cake and some of Josento's favorite food. After spending an hour together they gave Josento his present. Handing him a decorative box he opened it to find a black hat inside. Picking it up and placing it on his head he noticed it was a little heavy. Willard said, "Why don't you go play outside for a little while?".

    Josento nodded and went outside to play. Noticing his parents didn't follow he panicked a little since they usually spent half the day with him on his birthday. Josento went to check the door and could not get it open so he tried the back door and maintenance door with the same results. By the time he finished circling the house the storm had hit and started raining and lightning. Josento ran for the tree he would read under trying to take cover. Hiding under the tree he started humming to try and drown out the storm. Walking a little out from under the tree Josento felt an extreme heat going into his body before blacking out.

    Willard was watching from the window. When he saw Josento get hit he told his wife the plan went smoothly. Retrieving Josento from outside they took off his hat which hit the floor with a loud clang. Taking him upstairs into his room they waited for him to wake but he wouldn't open his eyes. Calling for the fief's doctor who arrived a few hours after being called examined Josento saying he had no clue what was going on. Suddenly Josento grabbed the doctor's arm and a giant spark appeared where he grabbed and the doctor fell over unmoving.

     Josento, still unconscious, his parents decided to drop him off at an orphanage far away from their home. Josento woke to an unfamiliar ceiling and started glancing around for anyone. Seeing the room was empty he got up from the bed and slowly made his way towards the door trying to escape. The door suddenly opened when a young girl walked in noticing Josento introducing herself as Claudia. Josento asked, "Where am I?".

     Claudia answered, "We are at an orphanage on the edge of the Unon kingdom.".

     Josento asked, "Why am I here?".

     She answered, "We found you on the front step unconscious.".

     Josento realized that his parents went through with getting rid of him. He went to hug Claudia but when he got close sparks started flaring from his body. Confused he took a step back and looked at his hands and arcs of lightning were rising up his fingers. Feeling the electricity in his body he felt powerful. He asked, "Is there a safe place where I can train my abilities?".

     She answered, "There is a clearing in the forest north of here.".

     Claudia led him to the forest into the clearing. Josento told Claudia, "Step back.".

     Josento charged electricity into his hands until they were glowing blue and unleashed it into the ground, sending a wave across the area in front of him. After that Josento spent the next year training his ability until one day an unknown man came to the orphanage looking for him. Going to meet the man Josento was nervous and his hands kept sparking. Walking into the room Josento eyed the man sitting at the table. The man said, "Name's Saekeya Prail, I heard you have an interesting ability.".

     Josento said, "What of it? What business do you have with me?".

      Saekeya said, "I'm here to adopt you and train your ability.".

     Having nowhere else to go Josento replied, "When do we leave?".

     Saekeya smiled and said, "After I offer my donation to the orphanage. From now on you are my son Josento Prail.".
