First Day

I would've been late if I didn't accidentally summon my doppelganger.

This morning I saw my doppelganger acting like a housewife cleaning up a room. It was… really weird. It had the apron and everything. Well, I did leave a mess last night so it's a good thing it cleaned my room.

As it was cleaning my room, I got dressed and placed my combat outfit in the suitcase along with my daggers and my Ninjato. I tied my Katana onto my belt. I took a quick glance in the mirror and see if I didn't look like I just woke up from my bed. The bags under my eyes were barely visible but they were there and my hair was all over the place. And my uniform, it just doesn't fit my appearance.

"This is not how I want to look like on my first day."

After I got ready, I went down towards the first floor and placed my "gone until six o'clock" sign up.

Leaving the Golden Sun, I decided to get some breakfast from the nearest bakery.

Upon arriving at the academy, I noticed that the females were wearing a different color than males. Instead of a white uniform, they were wearing black. They weren't wearing ties but a bow. Even though they wore different uniforms, the color order of the grades was still the same.

Walking past the gates, I hear a familiar and pretty annoying voice.

"Hey, is that Seiya?"

Ordos. Well, it can't be helped. He is also a freshman like me, but I wished he came earlier or later so I don't have to see him here.

"Hello."

I said as I turned around. Ordos had the same uniform as me(of course) and his weapon, which is a spear was strapped around his back.

"Hey man, no need to sound so monotone."

"This is how I always sound like."

"Man, with that attitude, you ain't never getting a girlfriend."

Whoosh!

"Talk again and I'll hack your head off."

"A-alright man just put your blade away."

I'd take the end of my blade away from Ordos' neck, then I slowly sheathed my blade back into its scabbard.

"Besides, it's not like you'll get a girlfriend yourself."

I retorted and Ordos zipped his mouth. After that, I headed inside the school. There was a spatial portal where I'm supposed to place my suitcase. It will automatically be delivered to whatever classroom I have been assigned to.

Arriving at the venue, I took my seat in the last row and the farthest left seat.

The entrance ceremony is taking place in this kind of auditorium. As I scouted around, it looks like they use some sort of light projecting crystal as a spotlight. That's pretty smart.

"Oho, well look who it is."

I hear another familiar voice. This time it wasn't Ordos, but it was an even more irritating voice.

"Marth."

Standing next to me, Marth has his longsword strapped to his hip. His blonde hair was slicked back and I think he must've over gelled it too much.

"You know, the outcome of our fight is not official. If that princess didn't interrupt, I would've won our duel."

"Are you sure about that? You must be an expert at being a sore loser."

Marth clicked his tongue. Got him there.

"How about this? In a month, there is an exam that goes on every year for all freshmen. I know this from my elder brother. It will be an exam held in the mammoth forest."

"Mammoth forest?"

"Located west of Priden. A little far away from the beach but it will be held in a remote area of the forest. We are required to last 5 days. The point of the test is to see what actions you will perform while you survive."

So it's like a camping trip but surviving against monsters. That's assuring.

"So what does this have to do between us?"

"You see, this is the fun part. We are required to have a partner to survive with. With that partner, not only will you have to survive against the danger that awaits, but you'll also have to be fighting any duo you meet, or team up, but that depends."

"So you want us to fight when that happens?"

"Of course, that is... if you survive. It's a good thing, isn't it? But don't worry, we can't die. If we are in a situation where you will die, you'll be automatically teleported to the base camp where you will be treated. But we don't need that do we? We have a full month to prepare so-"

Marth leaned in closer to me and there was killing intent in his eyes.

"I'm looking forward to seeing how much you can grow."

We stared at each other, exchanging murderous glares. Marth began to glow silver, and I began to glow as well.

Before we went any further, a teacher stopped us.

"Hey both of you, suppress your auras! Whatever conflict there is between you two it will not take place here."

Marth clicked his tongue and recoiled away. The air between us was calming down.

"1 month, don't disappoint me."

Then he strolled away meeting up with his group of friends. They were all giving me the same look Marth gave me.

That was a rather boring threat. I heard worse. Since he gave me some time I guess I can use it wisely. Let's see, today is the Wednesday, 18th of September, so in a month the exam would start… October 18? Or maybe it'll start the day after that since the eighteenth of October is a Sunday, so October 19.

So I have 30-31 days to train. That's not much time, to be honest, I'd need at least two months to prepare for something, but I'll see what I can do.

At last the ceremony began. I didn't know this yet because I wasn't interested but on the balcony is where the king and the queen sat. Along them were a couple of nobles, probably relatives. I couldn't get a clear picture of how they look like but that doesn't matter.

On the stage, the speakers; the headmaster and the student representatives of the second years and the third years gave out their speech, but go in one ear and out the other.

Then it was the freshmen representative. I don't know how they were going to pick the freshmen representative but whatever way they did it could not have been rigged.

"Now, may the first-year student representative Aurelia Lucifis come up to the stage."

Now I'm wondering if it's just because of her status. But if I think about it, she was fighting that masochist who was ordered not to go easy on her and she did win. I still wonder if she was actually holding back or not.

Even if she was the princess, her speech was also boring. If I hear another speech, I think I might develop an allergy to speeches.

I decided to dose off as the ceremony continued. Soon I was woken up by the noise of people clapping. Everyone was getting up from the seat and I decided to follow. Finally, the ceremony is over, now it's time to see what class I'm in.

As we exited the venue, there was a huge bulletin board that had the listing of freshmen. I looked for my name and eventually found it. My classroom is held on the second floor and in the first room on the right.

Walking up the stairs, I eventually see my room which was on the right. I opened the door and entered. There were desks and chairs lined up and students scattered around conversing with each other. Each row had a table for two, not like one of those singular seats. Damn, I was hoping for that though.

No matter. I went over to the top right and took the seat near the window as that seat was where my suitcase was. I know it was my suitcase because it has a specific sigil in the middle of the case. My sigil was a black dragon perched onto a golden cross. Earlier I saw the sigil on Ordos' case. It was a manticore on some ruins. Basically, the sigil on our suitcases represents our Spirito.

As I was getting comfy with my seat, now that I think about it, the seat that's always at the back and near the window is almost cursed, though I forgot why it's cursed but it just is.

"Greetings Seiya."

A female voice spoke and I turned. Sitting next to me was Aurelia in a black uniform. She had her hair tied in a side ponytail with a yellow hair tie and her rapier strapped onto her waist. On stage I didn't get a clear view of her because… well I dozed off, but now that she's here sitting right next to me, I can see every detail of her.

"Aurelia."

But before I could say anything, all the other students began crowding up near the princess. I almost forgot that she's like a celebrity. Of course everyone is gonna want to attract her attention, she's a princess after all.

Since she was busy dealing with others, I decided to give her some space. After all, I have to deal with the person in front of me.

"Hey hey Seiya, looks like we're in the same class."

"Shut up, Ordos."

"Oh c'mon now, no need to be so cold. And besides, you're sitting next to her highness. Don't you know how lucky you are? I would sell my soul just to switch seats with you!"

This guy is so annoying.

A few minutes passed and eventually the bell rang.

"Everybody, please be seated."

Everyone rushed over to their seats and sat down. I look up and see a familiar woman wearing a black robe in front of the classroom.

Wait a minute, isn't that-?

The woman began writing her name on the chalkboard.

[Trisha Kane]

"My name is Trisha, and I will be your homeroom teacher for this year."

It's the sadist! To think she would be my homeroom teacher. Couldn't the headmaster have sent someone that is at least a bit normal?

"Feels bad man."

I hear Ordos whisper as he looked out the window as if nothing happened. I would look around the classroom and everyone took their stares off me. Even Aurelia.

This is not how I wanted to start off my new school life.
