The laugh the shadows emitted was met by an inverse expression by Sage as he felt as he felt a bit miffed that his athletic ability was just mocked when a car had just turned him and the cement into one and the same.

Abruptly the eyes instantly refocused and met his gaze, "We're out of time for now, practice against wrenches next time, if you can dodge those you can dodge anything, at least that's what the last guy said, until next time." Before he could even formulate a reply Sage saw the room suddenly fill with white, it's a hospital it's still devoid of color he remembered sadly, but the shadows slowly retreated into the vents before finally leaving him all all alone.

Or so he thought as a muffled knock emitted from the door off to his left. Still struggling from the sudden rush of sensations Sage matched the feebleness he felt in his actions as he called out they could come in. Bright green eyes and a matching bright smile burst through the entrance, golden hair outshined by only the sun itself danced side to side as an extremely beautiful girl practically skipped over to the bed. In her hands a tray of wrapped food, it was Lily his childhood friend. They've been neighbors for as long as he could remember and recently he realized through the awkwardness his feelings may have developed, but that took a back burner for now, getting hit with car will do that to a guy.

"Hey there sleepy head it's about time, you got out of surgery yesterday morning and I've been worried sick, all I could was bake and bake trying to frantically get my mind of it and so I could at least get you a get well present!" Lily exclaimed with her trademarked vibrant smile. However, as he heard the word bake Sage felt his smile freeze and then artificial, the last time he had eaten Lily's baked goods they had put him in the hospital, though this time it would save him a trip he loathed the confrontation with his nemesis. Lily either woefully ignorant to her skill or gleefully malicious in her punishment, she shoved a cupcake towards him, though a sprinkle covered brick was more fitting. In his feeble condition Sage couldn't even lift an arm to defend himself as the brick smashed his into his teeth Lily just giggled as Sage struggled to chew and swallow the cement. Fighting back tears and the urge to cough out a lung Sage fought on. Finally, gasping for air from the torture and a bead of sweet snaking itself down his forehead he made it. Lily just giggled again before tossing the tray of cupcakes into the trash as if mocking him.

"So I heard you're going to be here for a few more days to make sure your recovery goes smoothly." She said, I already talked to the teachers at school, they'll have people copy notes for you and compile them together and I'll bring them home and leave them with your mom for you, just focus resting Sage...." At the sudden shift to seriousness in her tone Sage refocused and met her gaze and saw a tear dance it's way down from her emerald eyes. "We almost lost you, the doctors are still baffled at how you're alive, I know that's not exactly the morale booster you wanted to hear but it's true."

As if coming back to reality Lily was struggling to find a tissue or something to wipe away her tears. Sage looked over to his right and saw a box of them and was in the midst of trying to tolerate the pain in his arm and reach for them when suddenly it felt as if gunshots went off right next to his ear, deafening ringing echoed through his head his head felt as if someone was crushing it as easily as a soda can and he lurched forward attempting to find some respite. Lily who had noticed Sages' gaze and walked to the tissues herself dropped them in a panic when she heard Sage scream to her right. "What's happening Sage where's the button call the nurse hurry!" She quickly scampered over and in a panic reached out her hand towards her lain laced friend when suddenly a hand shot back grabbed her wrist and pulled down. Losing her balance Lily crashed into the cold tile as Sage steps above her. All she could do was let out a small scream as her shoulder was throbbing, before anything else could happen she was pulled up by strength that her old friend shouldn't have, let alone after his surgery.

He started dusting her off grabbed the tissues from the floor and wiped her tears away. "Sorry about that Lilith, my reflexes kicked in and I'm still jumpy from the accident. It's probably better if you leave for now and maybe see a nurse outside if there's some pain, I really need to get some sleep now." Sage said all these things with a sarcastic smile Lily had first found insufferable but had slowly found endearing. However, this time the warmth from his smile had died there, his eyes, bright blue as always, seemed to wield the harshness of a fresh blizzard instead of their usual warmth.

Without uttering a reply Lily turned around and waved a quick goodbye before fast walking out of the hospital, totally oblivious to the bruising on her shoulder and the pain. What really bothered her was the sudden mood change in her best friend, he had never been aggressive let alone it being unwarranted, that and the fact he they've known each other since they were little....yet Sage had called her Lilith, not Lily. Upstairs back in his room Sage stood calmly in his hospital gown looking out his window at shining sun and birds flying by before cursing softly and shutting the blinds. He calmly walked over to the conjoined bathroom and looked at his reflection in the mirror. Cocking his head to the side he calmly tapped the right side of his head with his palm a few times before saying "Come out Sage, we need to talk."
