A PAST INCIDENT

I settled on my chair, cupping my face, propping my elbows on the table, wondering what to do.

I looked around my office and my eyes stopped at the book shelf.

The image of Noah standing there with a book in his hand flashed.

The sunlight from the open windows of my office glistened on his radiant, clean shaved face, his defined cheekbones and his sharp jawline that made my jaw drop. His muscular arms holding the book made me stutter, "You…Why…are...you…here?"

When he turned to me, his bright almond shaped eyes gleamed with joy. I felt the earthy scent of his sweeping me over to him when he came closer.

'Damn.. Why am I thinking of him?', I pushed my chair back , rose up and took my steps to the book shelf. My fingers grazed over the book Noah read.

I pulled my hand, when the door opened wide.

Nate rushed in, 'Here, Your New phone and I have found something! '

"...."

'About your engagement with Noah?' his voice low.

My small eyes widened.

"It wasn't your father's arrangement, your mom was against the idea! "

' What? But, My father told me I should marry him even if it's not a business matter? And my mom was happy?'

'She never liked Noah and the collaboration that comes with your marriage and….'

"And?"

'Your parents argued over this engagement and somehow your father convinced your mother to agree?'

"Are you implying that my father was forced to agree to this union?"

"No…Your father and Noah's father were close and Noah was the best man according to your father and he loved Noah!"

'Then, How did the blast…why would it happen?'

"We didn't have any information about that, I don't understand why I couldn't find those records? Something is shady about the incident's record  being unavailable. Seems like someone's secretly gathering everything we do and are stopping us from knowing the truth ."

'Do you feel the same?'

"Wait…Do you…you do know that?"

"Yeah, I just found out!"

'Hmph…Don't worry…I won't let anyone near you!'

"Now I know!"

'You know?'

"Yes, you are protecting me from people who are targeting my heart! "

"Finally, you realized it. Good for you!"

'You are the best Nate! Thank you!' I smiled at him.

"You, be careful with Noah and I'll dig deeper into the incident. Return home before it's too late. Just don't believe anyone, especially Noah and Kai!"

'....' my eyes got bigger in utter shock.

"Why do you look shocked? Tch..I know you like them, that's why I am asking you to stay alert and guard your heart from future pain."

'Okay!'

"Let's move, I've already cleared all your schedules today, I've also made a reservation for you, A surprise! Come on! " He extended his arm.

" Fine, I'll talk with Noah about the most important thing and I will leave his place as soon as I get the information. Are you happy now? "

' Good..If anything happens , just let me know! '

" Yeah, Yeah...I will.. my mom ! " I teased him and grabbed his arm.

We walked out of my office to the elevator , and Nate pressed the basement button after entering the elevator.

"So, What's the surprise?"

'If I tell you, it's not a surprise, Ash!' he shook his head and chuckled.

"I'm just curious. I just don't wanna be disappointed by my higher expectations! " I pouted.

'Don't have high expectations, just a little thing to cheer you up, that's it! '
