5. Humans vs Monsters, who reigns supreme?

Early in the morning,Inside of a Mansion, in a bedroom laid one of the daughters of Zodia ,Rachel. Still wearing her armour she was still asleep as a result of getting knocked out by her father. A servant walked in with a tray of, a cup of tea 🍵 and bread 🍞, he took a tiny bell🔔 out from his pocket and rung it

"Good morning madam, breakfast is ready"

the servant said after waking Rachel up with the sound of the bell.

"Good morning Withward" she said

Scratching her head:

"oww,what happened?"

she asked,still holding her head trying to recall the past events she partook in,

"and,how did I get into the mansion?"

"yes,it seems the doctor's prediction was right"

Withward said thinking back to the time the doctor told him when the Mistress is most likely to wake up

"you don't remember,madam?"

he said opening his eyes widely

"no,I don't but for some reason I feel it's really important "

she said looking through a window in the room.

"okay madam,if you don't remember then I shall tell you of what happened the last two days you were asleep"

"wait I have been asleep for two days?"

she said widening her eyes

"yes,two days"

Withward said, placing the food in front of his mistress Rachel,after serving the food on a tray he tooked a step back and continued talking

"two days ago,an alarm was heard coming from the mansion's gate so I went by myself to check out the situation believing it was a beggar off the street only to find, you, mistress Emilia and Master Subaru were lying Infront of the mansion's gate and besides you was a small purplish cat that had a baby in it's mouth, I quickly called for the maids to take you and miss Emilia to your former rooms while Subaru was taken to Rex's former room"

he stopped to look at the expression on the mistress face since he just called the name of her dead brother seeing no reaction he continued

"and as for the baby I left it with one of the maids to cater for it's need, after that we all went back to our normal activities,a doctor came once in twelve hours to check on your health, apart from you the only other person to wake up was mistress Emilia, your sister"

immediately Withward was done with his explanation, she stood up and said

"you said my sister is in her former room right?"

"yes madam,but where are you going?"

he said looking at his mistress who now had a worried look on her face.

"I am going to meet her"

she said and stormed out of the room ( I remember what happened)

"I wonder what has the mistress so worked up"

he said turning to look at the untouched plate of breakfast 🥞

"she didn't even touch her food, well who knows what goes on in the mind of women"

saying that he covered the untouched food and kept it in one corner of the room hoping that later she would eat it.

On the hallway of the mansion Rachel could be seen walking and browsing through the different doors

"it's been a long time since I came to this place,I can hardly remember where the dining room is"

she said looking frantically for anything that may remind her of where her sister's room was

"now that I stop to think about it" she said stopping in her tracks while holding her chin 🤔

" I should have asked Withward for directions"

"no,that won't be right,it will be too embarrassing....wait I remember"

she said hitting her palm with the side of her fist ( the palm was lying horizontally)

"father said when we were kids that if we ever got lost we should just look up to the ceiling then we would find our way"

looking up she saw a flower with 4 petals with colours,the one on the north was light blue and dark red split in half indicating father and mother's room,the ones on both east and west were red indicating me and my sister's  while the one on south was purple (the shape was that of star ✨)

"since I just came out from the west my sister room should be opposite mine"

on that note,she continued walking forward not turning left nor right until she reached a dead end with a door in front of her

"this must be it"

she opened it to find her sister lying down perpendicularly to the bed looking through the window and on her lap was the purplish cat mits.

her sister on seeing her had tears in her eyes,on seeing her sister about to cry and the cat which laid feverish on her lap (when you have an affinity the situation of the owner would be showed off on the summoning and right now mits was having a fever meaning wherever dad is,he's not doing well) on seeing mits she bit her lips and said

"oh no, he couldn't have"

Two days earlier:

On an open field with very few trees, very early in the morning,not long after midnight, what could be seen were three people and a sleeveless green hoody on the grasses,

one of them wearing a armour with a blue hair which was approaching the color grey (possibly due to old age) standing Infront of him was a topless man with blue trouser, while the other person had a coat on and wore glasses sitting on the green hoody that was thrown to the floor by the topless person.

Zodia (Grandpa's POV):

"Hmmm, fighting this two people at once may prove quite troublesome, but to be sure... Hey!!!.."

I called out to them due to the distance they were from me was a little bit far

"What?"

they both replied fixing their gaze on me

"Not sorry to bother you, but am i going to be fighting the both of you at once or is it only you?" 

I said pointing to the monster who was topless

"Don't get too cocky old man,you can barely solo me so don't even think of fighting us at the same time"

The monster who I was pointing at replied

"but,to be safe..."

he turned to the monster with glasses whose name was Daui and said looking at him suspiciously

"hey, get off my hoody"

"no"

"why?"

he asked looking disgusted

"you don't expect me to sit on the bare ground do you?"

"sigh, forget about it but,anyway,hope you won't interfere?"

Raising his glasses up a little, giving it a flash, he turned to look at his companion and back to me,he seemed to be analyzing something after a while he said

"As I said before, the person he's fighting is you"

he said looking irritated but you can interprete his sentence to

|... it's your fight not mine, don't you dare drag me into this... |

"you heard him, now let's fight"

turning to me entering into a fighting stance but...

to his shock or rather he was caught off guard,why? because the old man who he thought was standing right Infront of him a moment ago was now standing right beside him on his right side, holding his sword vertically.

taking the answer of the monster called Daui as my signal to start I tightened the grip on my sword and backed it up with my speed to give it a significant boost in power.

I saw that the monster was caught off guard, taking advantage of that opening I sliced down at an angle of 45° with a strike so powerful that I was sure if not for his regeneration he would be dead but...

"my sword..... it's stuck"

I felt a bit of more resistance in cutting him down than the last time

I tried removing my sword from the neck of the monster but it didn't budge,it kept on sticking to his neck and it was rapidly covered by flesh,it was now even more harder to move

"tsk, tsk,tsk..., if you think regenerating is all I can do,then you are solely mistaken"

after saying that he turned his hand into a fist giving me a heavy attack to the gut pushing me back,it was quite painful but still I was no longer stuck and I got out with both my life and his arm

the monster didn't notice until a moment later that the arm he had used to hit me has been cut off but instead of him to be frightened he started to smile and then that smile became a laugh a maniacal one at that and during the time of the laugh his arm grew back, frustrated from the result I thought

|.....is this guy made from lizard cells or something? ....|

" hahaha, yes!!! this is what I have always wanted, to be in a fight of life and death situation,the pain only gets me more fired up"

in trying to prove his point he cut off both of his legs but they regenerated,then he cut them off again and they still regenerated,he did the process ten times in a row and with each turn the time for the regeneration became a bit more faster

"now, let's fight"

saying that he came to me at a speed that was very close to mine and held me by the neck,I tried to struggle my way out but, his grip only became stronger,I was forced to drop my sword,I held the arm that was holding my neck and swung my legs upward,using the momentum I twisted his arm and loosened his grip on my neck ,he let go of me and in doing so,I quickly grabbed my sword from the ground did a backflip a few distance away but immediately i gained my balance I saw the monster right Infront of me about to give me a punch to the face but thankfully my reflexes were faster as I deflected it with the flat side of my sword 🗡️

he still didn't stop but kept on giving me a fury of attacks and blows which I was able to deflect successfully with my sword but he still didn't let up,for some reason he seemed to be whispering something to himself and with each passing blow the force behind the punch increased

"hehehe"

the monster was laughing

|....wait why is he laughing.... |

but before I could realize his scheme the deed was already done

"98,99,100!!!"

the monster yelled out and on saying that reality hit almost as hard as his punch and that was saying much, because I finally knew why he was laughing but it was already too late,on saying the word hundred, cracks started to appear on my sword and those cracks grew in size and my sword was completely broken into half

"tsk.. how could I have been so careless"

i said while receiving the full impact of the 101th punch mixed with pieces of broken metals from my sword,the impact of the punch landed me on the ground, coughing out a little blood.

Sarcastically:

"wow,is that all it takes to defeat a legend,not impressed"

turning to Daui he says

"come on let's go"

he said turning his back to leave

"and where do you think you're going,this fights not yet over"

I said using the remaining strength I could muster to get up and I tightened my muscles inorder for the metals stuck to my flesh to come out

"oh,but it is ,I broke your sword or didn't you notice or did I punch you so hard that you're blind?"

he pointed to the remains of my sword lying on the ground

Turning to look at my sword i thought to myself

|..we've had a long run, haven't we old friend but now it's good bye...|

turning back to the monster i said

"don't get too cocky brat, a true swordman can fight even without his sword and besides I am pissed"

"oh?,so tell me what could I have done that could piss you off"

he said pointing to himself

"you"

"you"

"you"

"broke my second favourite sword"

I yelled out the reason for why I have become so pissed

"talk about low conviction,and so what?!!!"

the monster said but what he said could be interpreted as

|...and so?, what you gonna do about it?...|

"I'm gonna beat the living crap out of you"

upon saying that a blue mixed with red aura could be seen around me and that aura became concentrated into my fist

"get ready to meet my most favourite sword"

and the aura around my fist became a sword with one side flaming red and the other watery blue

"so this is why they called you the water dragon in larva"

when the monster said that I replied saying

"don't talk about my past, it brings back some bad memories"

I said remembering what it took to create this sword

|....a long time ago,I was in battle with a very strong opponent,at a point I let my guard down and my opponent didn't let that slide he punched me into next week.

we were fighting on a deserted island with a dormant volcano

I was punched into that volcano at first I thought I would be safe but the impact of my landing caused cracks in the mouth of the volcano and it became active,I fell inside the mouth,my opponent thought I was dead so he didn't bother to finish me up giving the volcano the pleasure but unfortunately for him I had water nature to back me up

I created a strong water aura around myself so the larva wasn't hot as it was supposed to be (having water nature I could increase the coldness of the water and it also gave me some oxygen since according to my former academy teacher water contained oxygen but that was the first time I experimented it),talk about luck,but I was stuck down there in larva for a whole week at some point I came to the realization that no one is coming for me(well it was a secret Mission after all and those take time to complete),so I decided to save myself I turned part of my water aura into sword and at this point most of my mana was gone so it was all or nothing and I found out that part of the larva characteristics was mixed into my aura,I began cutting the walls of the volcano,I kept on cutting for 3 days and nights,it was about the 10000th slash that it opened,when I came out I noticed that my power had significantly increased ,(well pressure is a good catalyst for growth in strength) and I got a bonus, though I wasn't born with larva nature but thanks to the volcano 🌋 it was forcefully embedded into me,wait why I am even thinking about this....|

"enough reminicising,get ready to die"

"just because you got a new sword doesn't mean you can beat me"

"Sora"

Daui called to his companion with his name for the first time

"yeah, what?"

"don't underestimate him,I don't know why but I fill you need to retreat from this fight"

"huh? you know I can't do that"

"watch out"

Daui cried out to Sora but alas it was

"too late, a tip for the afterlife, dont take your eyes off your enemy...."

I said piercing his chest with my sword with what was visited by his screams

the look on his face wasn't that of fear or confidence it was one of shock

"I didn't let my guard down,it is you that was too fast for my eyes to follow ,how are you that fast?"

upon removing the sword from his chest,the wound cut fire

"it's a secret"

"haaaa!!!, this pain,what is this, it's excruciating"

"Haaaa!!! why won't my body regenerate"

Sora said clenching his chest moving around on the grasses trying to relieve himself from the pain

looking down on him I said sadistically:

"you seem to be in pain,let me put an end to your suffering"

I raised up my sword and concentrated a lot of aura around it and with lifeless eyes i said

"Good bye"
