29. The day has arrived

*yawn* 🥱

"How long was I alseep?"

I scratched my head, getting up to take a breath of fresh air from the window. On getting there I noticed a carriage with a lot of people around it,and that was when I remembered

"Subaru's leaving today!!!"

I dashed out of the room,ran through the hallway and went out the door of the mansion,upon getting there I could see Subaru waving farewell to everyone as he was about to board the carriage

"Hey,wait up"

I ran to Subaru and stopped right Infront of him

"So you're awake.., what's up?"

"First of all,you should have woken me up and secondly I would like to escort you"

"Can you?"

Subaru asked

I turned to Aunt Rachel to see if she was okay with it,and she didn't seem to refute the idea,and mom didn't retaliate either 

"I guess it's okay then, besides I would be able to memorize the location,so next time I can go there by myself"

I jumped into the carriage and sat down as Subaru joined me with his luggage as we waved everyone goodbye and was off to the academy.

About 2 hours had past when we finally got there and I waved Subaru goodbye as he alighted off the carriage and went into his new school,I also took note that Subaru was not the only one coming as other kids who seemed to be new were entering too.

Having dropped Subaru off ,I signaled the carriage man to take me home.

Subaru's POV:

"sigh, I guess I am doing this" 

I carried my luggage which contained only some outfits for me to wear since the school provided all the necessary items I needed. 

"I guess a lot of students enrolled this year" 

I said as I saw that I wasn't the only one entering the school, some went alone others were saying their final farewell to their crying parents and the rest were busy getting fascinated by how huge the school was but all that doesn't concern me, I walked straight to the entrance, which was opened already to accept new students and walked in, 

Where I meant someone that looked very familiar 

"hey, aren't you miss Vanessa?" 

I asked as I stopped at the checkpoint to get my pass

"it's miss Venelepi to you, and where is your Attendant?" 

She asked checking my back to see if Sir Withward was with me

"something urgent came up so he couldn't come" 

"oh I see" 

Feeling disappointed she passed a crystal to me and as I held it the crystal spoke and said

"Subaru from the Zodia family, check:positive" 

"you may pass, a man in a black suit will show you around the school and also lead you to were you are to stay" 

She said as she took the crystal away from my hand. 

I walked right past her into the school, I had seen it before so I wasn't that fascinated, I met the man who was to be my tour guide, it seemed every student had one as he showed me around the school.

8 hours later:

"what an hectic day"

I didn't expect the tour to take so long, just how big was this school, I also had to attend the new student's orientation where we were given an audience to the schools authority, and they told us the dos and don'ts of the school which took about 5 hours on its own.

Well now it was night time and everybody was sleeping, schooling activities for new students will start tomorrow, but I don't plan on staying that long. I was given my own personal room and during the tour I memorized every single detail, in and out of the school, I also read the schools handbook:when is nighttime, when patrols happen, and how many people were on the look out, I was also able to find out around which place security was lax the most, so now is the time to run.

I quietly opened the door to my room and checked if anyone was on patrol.,luckily for me there was none. As I got out about to take my leave, I met an old man who had a cloak on

"and were do you think you are going mister?"

He asked as he looked at me suspiciously

"I just wanted to take a piss, but please can you point me to the direction of the bathroom" 

He pointed towards the south

"walk left and take a right at the end, you will see the toilet sign"

I bowed down my head to show that I was grateful as I ran towards the direction, but that wasn't were I was going, I took a lot of turns passed alot of payrolls, until I was by the school's gate

Luckily no one was around to stop me

"sorry mom, I said I would go but I never promised to stay, this was too easy"

I said as I tried to open the gate but I got electrocuted and when I did the purple crystal on the gate glowed, I braced myself having gotten back up and tried again and it was the same thing, I spent the last two hours trying different ways but none of them worked, 

"I have had enough of this"

I decided to try again but nothing changed, my hair was in a mess, my body was now color black, I smelt like smoke and I was becoming drowsy, but that was when I was able to pick up something faint in the atmosphere, and I widened my eyes when I began to see glowing white balls all around me and wind started gathering round my hand

"if I could just"

I tried again but this time with a bit of a plan I tried to check if I could control all those small glowing balls floating in the air and it seemed I could I direct them to underneath me and they all gathered there and like that I began raising them up little by little until i was floating in the air

"so this is mana?"

And like that I carried my self over the gate and dropped my self on the ground

I lifted up my hands in victory as I came down, I was about to begin running when I got electrocuted again 

" but I didn't touch the gate"

I became dizzy and fell unconscious, the last thing I saw being someone's feet 

When I woke up I found myself on a chair and infront of me was the same old man that led me to the toilet

And on his desk was a plank that read 'principal' 

"damn" 

I said as I stood up to leave

"where are you going to? I haven't talked to you yet"

Seeing he won't let me leave without a little chat I decided to sit back down

"so you must be Subaru Zodia, you remind me alot of your mother" 

The old man said as he smiled at me

"you know my mother?"

I asked in shock

"yeah, just like you she tried running away from school too, I even taught your grandfather" 

|... Just how old is this guy?... |

Seeing that I was in trouble I decided to beg the old man to forgive me and forget this ever happened but.. 

"you seem to get the wrong idea, I am not mad you are trying to run away, I am disappointed that a boy like you is wasting his talent"

The old man said as he wore a serious expression 

"many people have to train for a year or two before they can see mana but you got it on your first day at school" 

"yeah, yeah, all this mana stuffs is not really my thing, I just saw it as a means to an end" 

The old man seeing my lack of conviction gave out a sigh

"see... Let me tell you something kid, I can give you permission to leave this school, and you won't come back again but isn't there something you want? Or someone you want to protect?"

He asked 

I tilted my head as I thought for a while

"no not really" 

The old man with a disappointed look on his face said

"okay, you have my permission to leave" 

On hearing that I jolted out of the room but before I could come out a gush of wind threw me right back

I quickly turned back at the old man with an angry expression 

He just gave a cunning smile and said

"what? I said you could leave"

As he raised up his hand like as if he didn't know what was happening 

I tried walking out of the room but I was sent out of the room

"look kid" 

The old man called out

"you could try walking past that door a number of times but you won't see any progress, you have my permission to leave but I also have the free will to stop you" 

He then ended his sentence by saying 

"in this world only the strong decisions are taken seriously while the weak are discarded, grow strong enough to be able to make wise decision, any body can become strong but it all depends on our personal determination and hard work" 

He said as he walked out of the room easily and left

|.... How did he just walk out, wait.... |

Having realized how he did it, I got uo and surrounded my self with wind as an Armour 

"I would call this the 'invisible armour'..." 

|... Nah the name needs more work... |

As I ran to the door on passing it the strength of the wind didn't feel as strong as it did when I didn't have the Armour on and as soon as I past the door I saw the old man by the side clapping his hands 

" see... There are alot of definitions of failure but I am going to tell you two:

Failure is when you accept defeat and two, it is when you don't live up to the expectations of those who believe in you" 

He got up from the floor and looked straight into my eyes

"I will ask you one more time, stay in the academy and grow, or leave, the choice is up to you" 

Upon hearing what he hda to say I replied

"I have decided I am leaving.... But only when I know there is nothing more for me to learn"

|... Guess you won old man... |

The old man put on a happy smile on his face and said

"call me principal, now follow me"

He said as he began began walking forward and I followed suit.
