Shadow House Society Assassins

As Lian Chen made his way towards the exit of the Accursed Shadow Mountains after completing his task, a sense of unease crept over him.

Lian Chen had a hunch that something was amiss as they met a lot of demonic beasts that were at the Initial Stage while they were on their way to hunt the Rhinoscale Horn.

Just as Lian Chen reached the mouth of the mountain pass, he turned around, as he felt that they were being monitored.

"Who's there? Come out right now!" Lian Chen's voice echoed through the surroundings.

Lian Chen stood with his back straight, his senses heightened, prepared to face any hidden threat that dared to challenge him.

Upon hearing Lian Chen's tone, Xiao Huan immediately assumed a vigilant stance, ready to defend against any potential threat.

Silence hung in the air for a moment, tension building as Lian Chen waited for a response. The stillness was broken by the rustling of leaves, followed by the appearance of 2 figures from the shadows.

The assassins from the Shadow House Society, stepped forward, revealing themselves in the dim light.

"Someone has offered a bounty for you, 10,000 spiritual stones for your head." 1 of the 2 assassins spoke, his voice sounds hoarse.

"Hmmph, am I that expensive?" Lian Chen smirked, while contemplating who it was that offered a bounty for his head.

"Hey, how about you guys tell me who put this bounty on my head?" Lian Chen questioned the 2 assassins.

"There's no need for a corpse to have such knowledge," the assassins replied, raising their weapons and preparing to attack Lian Chen.

"Hmmph, only at the mere Foundational Establishment, Middle Stage, yet they asked 2 of us at the Foundational Establishment, High Stage to dispose of you."

The Assassins looked down upon Lian Chen, and could not wait to go back to the Shadow House Society to collect their rewards.

Suddenly, boundless pressure exploded out from Lian Chen's body and he lept towards 1 of the assassins.

"Blooming Lotus!" Unleashing the power of the Lightning Rush Technique, Lian Chen swiftly executed the Blooming Lotus, the second form of the Blossom Palm Strike. Seizing the opportunity while the assassins were caught off guard, he swiftly eliminated one of them.

"That pressure… No, you are at the Foundational Establishment, High Stage!" Feeling the immense pressure, the surviving assassin exclaimed in shock.

"Now, are you ready to tell me who put this bounty on my head?" Lian Chen smirked and asked the question again.

"Hmmph, over my dead body!" The assassin thought that he had a chance to win as both of them are at the same cultivation level.

This time, the assassin arrived in front of Lian Chen, and immediately swung his sword towards him.

However, the assassin could only watch Lian Chen effortlessly dodge his attacks, unable to land even a single blow.

"Why can't I hit him even once?! Even though both of our cultivation levels are the same??" Thought the assassin as he keeps trying to land a hit on Lian Chen.

"Are you done?" Questioned Lian Chen as he concentrated Qi into his palm.

With a swift and forceful strike, Lian Chen unleashed the Ethereal Palm technique, causing the assassin to collapse to the ground.

"Now, are you ready to answer me?" Lian Chen inquired, looking down at the weakened assassin on the ground.

"If I tell you, will you spare my life?" the assassin pleaded.

"Indeed, I have no intention of killing you," Lian Chen chuckled, his gaze fixed on the assassin.

"It was the Huo mansion. They requested the services of the Shadow House Society to send two assassins at the Foundational Establishment, High Stage to eliminate you," the assassin revealed, hoping for leniency.

"Now, please let me go," Asked the assassin as he begged for his survival, hoping for leniency.

"Of course." Said Lian Chen as he stood up and collected the spoils of war, and then walked away.

"Xiao Huan, finish him off." Lian Chen instructed Xiao Huan to kill the remaining assassin.

"Y-You pro..." The assassin's plea was abruptly cut short as Xiao Huan unleashed a relentless barrage of fireballs, obliterating him completely.

"It is not my style to show mercy to people who are out for my head."

"Huo Mansion, Huo Tianlu… Soon it will be your turn!" Lian Chen said before heading back to the Buddha Benevolent Sect.
