55 Chapter 55: Fire and Wind

His feet falling heavily between the firs, Cassius stomped back into the forest with Marten in tow. Stopping once they were far enough from the pool to ensure they were neither seen nor heard by Aribelle. Cassius plonked the bag he had taken from Marten into the ground, before turning swiftly on the boy who had followed him.

The feeling of Fawn's soft skin and cold lips still fresh in his mind, he pinched the bridge of his nose frustratedly. Trying to suppress his desire as her Mate to return to her side immediately, Cassius's face scrunched together. Forcing himself to concentrate on the task at hand, his gaze fell on Marten. The boy more subdued than usual, Marten refused to look Cassius in the eye. Head tilted towards his feet; the other features of his face followed. Cast downward in clear submission of the coming chastisement, the boy shrunk back a little from where Cassius stood.
