Branches and leaves crunching underfoot, Aribelle begged them to cease. Although, fearing that they may alert others of her presence in the forest, Aribelle was not able to slow her gate in order to quieten her steps. Glancing back over her shoulder to confirm no one else was following her, she delved into a thicket to help cover her tracks.
Aribelle knew this transgression would not be one that would be easily forgiven, as she made steady progress through the forest. Rushing to put distance between herself and the parish chapel Aribelle honestly couldn't say whether she was running headlong into another disaster or away from the one she had left in her wake. Nonetheless, her feet kept moving. Hoping that if she could possibly remove herself to a far enough place, her doubts would no longer tempt her into returning from the place of which she had come.
