The First Flame

After resting for a few minutes, admiring the sun and the lush forest around me, I was suddenly hit by a strong hunger. My stomach screeched and rumbled for food.

Immediately, I sat up on my feet, my eyes focusing on the eggshell on the ground and the remaining fluids from the egg. Like a starving tiger, I jumped on the remains and started eating everything I could put in my mouth; even some grass from the ground couldn't escape my hunger.

After consuming everything on the ground, my hunger subsided a bit. Slowly, I felt strength surging in my body from my stomach, then a huge amount of heat gathered in my throat. I had the strong urge to breathe out all the air from my lungs.

A bright blue flame came out of my mouth. Instinctively, I pointed my head towards the sky as the flame flew a few meters in the air, the heat distorting everything around it. After all the air in my lungs was exhausted, the flame stopped, and I was left shocked on the spot for a few minutes, trying to comprehend what had just happened.

"A dragon! I must be a dragon!"

That thought exploded in my mind, taking up all the space inside. I suddenly started running around a tree from excitement, the feeling of might I had experienced throwing that flame out still burning in my mind—an intoxicating feeling.

Slowly, I regained my composure. I stopped and sat down under the tree, carefully inspecting my limbs and tail. They were covered in tiny dark blue scales with a bit of red at the ends. My limbs, even though just born, looked full of strength.

However, the inspection of my body was interrupted by a sound coming from a purple bush behind me. My ears immediately warned me of a life form approaching. I turned my gaze towards the source of the sound.
