Without knowing why, Lavi removed the rose from the girl's hand. He summoned his magic and burnt the flower with flames until it was left to ashes.
Now, he could feel the girl's life essence slowly stabilizing. He'd learnt to monitor essences from his mother. He never knew a day would come that a "useless" skill would come in handy.
But doing so still wasn't enough. This white-haired girl was still panting for breath, her eyes already half shut.
Lavi racked his brain, looking for another spell that might help.
'Yes,' he thought, 'This wasn't the time to be dumbstruck. I should help the girl too.'
Plus, he felt an invisible tug toward her. As though there was something in the girl that drew him to her.
At last, Lavi was able to remember a healing spell that the resident healer in the tower had performed. Circe had said that it was a spell used for situations that called for emergencies.
