THE SEARCH FOR THE OWNER

BLADE

After washing up my hair from the shower room instead going to class I went up the rooftop and just lay down there. Feeling the morning light heating my body up to a soothing degree. I shut my eyes thinking about nothing. When I feel like doing nothing or when something is bothering me I always go up here. No one ever goes to the rooftop since it's I claimed it to be mine. And even if someone dares to come up here they get the consequence of daring to step on my territory.

I was minutes away from dozing off when I heard the door open and close followed by footsteps. I didn't bother to open my eyes to see who it was. Since there is only one exception I let someone invade my privacy that would only be my bestfriend, Arden. Whenever he bothers me here it would only be either he wanted to say something to me urgently or just to scold me and now it would be the latter. I didn't felt the heat from my head since he was blocking the sun from me.

"Bro, if you're here to scold me then I'm telling you I'm not gonna listen to a word you say," I said with boredom etched on my voice. I covered my eyes with my arm and trying to go back to dozing off.

"So this is where you spend your free time, Umbrella boy."

I remove my arm. My eyes open wide when I didn't hear the voice of Arden instead it was the voice of a girl. I was facing with the girl who was looking down at me with her long wavy hair dangled like tentacles and there was a ridiculous smile plastered on her small face. I immediately sat upright. It would be easier to scare a girl if she was ordinary but then she was different. Worse, it was the annoying girl who is standing right behind me. I stood up facing her.

"What the f.ck are you doing here?! Get lost!" I said my voice raising with irritation my finger pointing out to the door.

Hadn't she had enough or does she want me to hurt her even more? And what did she call me? Umbrella boy? The hell! Is she trying to annoy me? I glared at her but instead of seeing fear in her eyes it only made her smile wider. I clenched my fist as my anger was starting to steam again inside me. This stupid girl is starting to get on my nerves.

"Well, I got lost from searching for my room and I ended up here on the rooftop. So I thought, if I could see the whole place from way up here I might find where my room is but I didn't expect that I find you here, umbrella boy," she explained. "And shouldn't you be in class right now?"

I mentally rolled my eyes. Yeah, right. Like she is not the one to talk.

"Who are you calling umbrella boy?!"

She giggled. "You are, silly umbrella boy." She gasped when I suddenly grabbed hold of the collar of her white dress that still has a faint stain on it and it was still a little damp. "You really want to make me mad, don't you?" I said in gritted teeth.

She scrunched her eyes and studied my face like a scientist studying a specimen. Then she suddenly poke my cheeks with her fingers and raise it upward. "You know if you keep frowning like this it might turn into a permanent expression on your face. Would it hurt to just smile, umbrella boy?"

I slapped her hands away. "To hell with that! And call me umbrella boy again and I will seriously punch you in the face!" I said threatening her with a finger pointed at her. But I think she doesn't get it when people are threatening her.

"But you are umbrella boy. Don't you remember?"

My forehead creased. "Remember what?" What the hell is this girl talking about?

"The umbrella," She rummaged inside her turquoise glittery backpack and took out a foldable cyan umbrella with sunflower prints on it. She hold it out to me. "See. Don't you remember? This is the umbrella you gave me that rainy day."

My eyebrows lowered. My gaze went between her and the umbrella. I poked her forehead with a finger. "Did you hit your head or something? Because I don't remember giving anyone anything not even this tacky umbrella. You must have mistook me for someone else."

She shook her head. "No, you're the owner of this umbrella."

I crossed my arms on my chest. "Really? What makes you think that that is mine?" I said demanding an explanation.

She pointed at my neck. "That day I was soaking wet in the rain when someone gave me this umbrella he had a snake tattoo on his neck exactly the same as yours. So I couldn't possibly mistook you for someone else."

"I'm still not convinced," I said crossing my arms on my chest

"Why not?"

"Don't you know that tattoos can be copied. It's not impossible that someone had the same tattoo as I have in the same location. So if you have delusions with this so-called-umbrella-boy I'll make it clear." I leaned down to meet her eyes. "I'm not the as.hole you claim me to be."

I turned my back on her. I took a few steps before I was stopped by small arms that wrapped at my waist like two tentacles squeezing me. "No! It is you! I'm definitely certain of it. I searched everywhere for you. I even waited a couple of hours in front of that same park hoping that I could meet you again."

"What the hell?! Let go of me, you crazy b.tch!" I tried removing her arms but when it loosens a little it gets tighter again. What is this pipsqueak doing?

She squeeze me even tighter. "No! I can't just let go when I finally found you. You just need to remember," she said desperately.

This girl is seriously getting on my nerves. I got frustrated that I forcefully remove her arms around me, face her and pushed her on the shoulders. She fell on her butt with a loud thud so as her umbrella which rolled down and stopped beneath my feet. I picked up the umbrella and look down on her.

She looked at me with desperation on her face like I was some kind of God giving her hope, her saving grace. "Look, stupid girl, even if I was the as.hole you were looking for. What will you do then? Will you give your f.cking virginity to me for just giving you this umbrella? Cause if it is, I won't have s.x with you. You're not my type."

Her cheeks turned into a deep shade of red. "What? No," She lowered her head. "If I ever find him—which I already have—I just want to be friends with him."

I sarcastically laughed. "You went to all the trouble searching for this boy so you can be friends with him. How dumb can you get?" I looked at the tacky umbrella. Seriously how could I ever own an umbrella such as this one. I heard a sniff and when I look down at her again tears were running down her cheeks.

"That's not dumb! You just don't understand because you don't have friends yourself! Like who wants to be by your side with someone as mean as you!"

That really hit the anger spot. I was fuming angry and I was so ready to hit her in the head with the umbrella but then I came up with a more better idea. I smirked. "Yeah you better not be friends with me then." I tossed the umbrella in the air and caught it in my hands.

"I won't!" she shouted standing up. "Now please give me the umbrella back." she said with her palm open to me.

"Oh, you mean this tacky umbrella?" I said still tossing and catching the umbrella in my hands.

"Yes, please give it back to me. It's important to me."

"You really want it," I throw the umbrella off the rooftop. "Then go get it!"

"NO!" she scream.

She ran and grabbed the railings in a desperate attempt to knock it over. With wide eyes she looked helplessly for the umbrella. She frantically looked for her umbrella down below a school building with five floors but when I looked down I can't see any signs of that tacky umbrella. She is a perfect display of stupidity.

"What is wrong with you?!"she yelled.

"I told you to get lost earlier, right? This is what you get for coming up here. Now, run along chihuahua and fetch your umbrella," I said my hand gesturing dismissively.

She glared at me. I smirked and started to walk away from her. I'm sure she will be stumping her feet to that door and leave me at peace. But what she did next made me want to rethink of my idea.
