As Silent As A Mouse

I am being hunted. Well, not me exactly. Someone wants to get their hands on the genius behind A.M.K Pharmaceuticals. They just don't know it's me. I have discovered a way to negate anyone's scent, shifter or human. You would think it wouldn't be that big of a deal... deodorants promise the same thing, but my product is nothing like that. My product turns its wearers invisible to shifters. No, not like that. But shifters need scent more than almost anything else to identify and find a person. Without scent, they can't track down their prey, or smell an enemy coming up from behind. I had originally created it so my adopted father and I could avoid the shifter community. No one was supposed to know about it. Until a little birdy said something they shouldn't have to the wrong person. Now the humans are after me and the shifters want me dead. But that's fine. That wasn't the only thing I came up with. And if I am as silent as a mouse, no one will see me coming until it is too late. This will be a RH novel, the FMC will not have to choose. I chuckled at the bright smile on Bernadette's face. As a nocturnal species, it was probably even worse for her to have to work in the morning than it was for me.

"Are both cups for you, or are you sharing?" I asked, reaching forward.

"This one is for you," she answered, holding out the one in her left hand. "A disgusting amount of milk and sugar just for you. I don't know how you drink that stuff. Even the barista was looking at me weirdly. I'm never buying you coffee again, by the way. It is sacrilege to drink it with so much addons."

I shrugged my shoulders, not really caring about her opinion. I hated the taste of coffee, but I loved what caffeine did to me. For that reason, I had learned to mask the bitter taste of the drink with milk and sugar.

It worked out well, the five sugars giving me another much needed burst of energy.
