Artras

*Editing in Progress* A group of six humans known as artras are chosen every thirty years to defend a world of magic called Armensia from a great evil, the Seven Dark mages led by Travas (Texan is only his brother.) One might have just called them summoned heroes. Kevin, the most powerful of the artras also referred to as the Siege, must find a way to defeat him and end this cycle that has raged on for nearly eight hundred years, but so many things stand in their way. (not to mention their unfathomable inexperience) Worst of all, the artras' long history is finally catching up to them. Kevin Johnson, an ordinary kid making it to his first day of high school suddenly finds his life upside down when his destiny to become one of the six artras is revealed to him. He is plunged into a life he didn't even know possible. Secrets revolve around everything concerning his seemingly uneventful childhood and even more uncertain future... The fate of the world is at stake and a lot stands in the way of him and his friends, 'You can always count on moving forward, right? Even though forward is straight into the mouth of a dragon or the bottom of a volcano...' ........................................... "How rude of me? I am Texan of the Seven Dark mages. And it is I who controls the Great White Wolf, but you can call it Black now," he spoke smirking for a dark dramatic flair, "Without your dragon, the Elder Dragon Ellimir, the six of you don't even stand a chance against us. I don't even see a point to fighting such amateurs." "So what? You came to fight a one-eyed man," I yelled back at him as it was all I could do to keep him from noticing my shaken state. "We shall meet again soon, Siege. And when we do, you shall then know the true extent of my power," he said darkly before vanishing in a swirl of grey smoke. Time resumed and motion returned to normal. My head was buzzing with so many questions that I left my legs in auto-pilot and was sent into a daze, walking back to wherever it was I did after lunch. .................................................

Chapter Twenty Seven

Kendall was getting worried about his best friend. He also noticed Ciara was going to skip school when she left their table that evening. Sitting at the table with only Isaac and Jacob made it feel like they were few. "They'll be fine, Kendall," Isaac said before resuming his monstrous onslaught of food. This boy could not be swayed from a meal. Kendall wasn't feeling like eating food today. So he just wasted time poking at the food that he had in front of him.

"Where do you think they could be?" Jacob asked. Kendall took time to notice that Jacob wasn't paying attention to the food he was eating either. 'What's his problem?' he thought.

"No idea," Kendall replied. It was no surprise, but all the artras noticed how close Jacob was always to Ciara, then there was how he reacted when he saw Kevin and Ciara together in Armensia before they were sent on the mission to save the missing mages. He was jealous of the two of Kevin and it showed very visibly.

The whole cafeteria went dead silent all of a sudden forcing Kendall out of his thoughts. Kendall looked around for the source of attention and noticed a girl walking towards their table. Well he couldn't blame her if she was embarrassed. With her features, she was bound to get noticed. She was undeniably beautiful and the blackest hair he had ever seen that flowed all the way down to her waist. Her eyes were a pale shade of blue which was remarkably different from Ciara's frosty blue.

She finally reached their table, her face red with embarrassment (who wouldn't be). "Can I sit here?" she asked shyly. 'Hmm, brave, she went straight for a table with only boys on it,' Kendall thought but couldn't help but wonder how odd that was. "Please," she added. This girl was desperate to get the attention off of her, but yet again she had gone for the one seat completely occupied by boys.

"Sure," Jacob said. She took a seat beside Jacob while Kendall continued to take in her appearance which he still regarded as odd. She had blue eyes and a nicely tanned skin. She also held a posture that was similar to that of an athlete. "I haven't seen your face around," Jacob began his face completely free of his former concerns.

"Yeah, I'm new here. Just transferred in," she said.

"I'm Jacob, by the way. Jacob Reynolds," introductions began. Isaac and Kendall usually took every chance they got to be jokers into account. Kendall could visibly see Isaac preparing himself for this. He was wiping his hands and his face as if preparing to meet an idol.

"I'm Sonia. Sonia Everglade," she replied and shook Jacob's hand.

Isaac went next seeing as he was in a hurry to freak the girl out. By now the whole cafeteria had returned to its noisy chaos so they had fewer viewers. "Bonjour, Mademoiselle. I am Isaac Chance," he began, "you are in luck to be in my presence." Isaac had thickened his French accent and it sounded genuine this time. It's like he had been practising for this moment.

Kendall and Jacob couldn't help but burst into laughter. Sonia soon followed having been stunned by the sudden comedy. "I am the cool one of us," Isaac continued running a hand through his hair to mess it up while keeping up with his French accent. We continued laughing for a while till Kendall decided it was his turn.

After finally composing himself, he presented his hand, "Kendall Michaels. Big admirer of pretty girls with blue eyes and long jet black hair," I began with a thick British accent. They once again laughed although this made Sonia's face turn red yet again.

"You went straight for the punch there, didn't you?" Isaac started.

"I couldn't help myself. Her hair is very unusual and I happen to think it is very cool," Kendall continued. He knew this was going to end up as some weird argument like it always did when he was with Isaac.

"But you like….." Isaac was stopped short.

"Are you guys always three on this table?" Sonia asked as though she noticed the missing spaces were meant to be filled by actual people.

"Yeah, two of us are missing," Isaac said, his expression falling. He finally looked like he had lost his appetite which was an award winning moment in Kendall's mind, but he wasn't about to tease him about it. It just wasn't the same without the whole crew at the table and they all felt the same way.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to…." Sonia began sensing the sudden change in the mood.

"Oh no it's alright. You'll meet them tomorrow," Isaac explained. Jacob volunteered to give her a tour about the school after the last lesson since she was never given an orientation. Kendall had football practice which he was sure Kevin was going to miss yet again while Isaac was going to try and look for their missing friends.
