Although Arthur continued to deliver his strongest attacks without stopping, Arthur could not provide strong enough attack to give Whitebeard a fatal wound. Arthur's Busoshoku Haki was strong enough to withstand Whitebeard's attacks coupled with the ability to see the future with Kenbunshoku Haki making Arthur hard to defeat. But all that still could not make Arthur win from Whitebeard.

After resisting Whitebeard's attack for some time finally, Arthur's swords began to crack and break so that the sharp blade Nagitana slashed Arthur's chest and knocked him far into the trees behind him. Arthur believes his Haki is not strong enough to withstand Whitebeard's attacks which combine the power of the demon fruit, Haki, and also Murakumogiri who is one of the 12 Saijo O Wazamono.
