Rosa watched the worried Maria, her hands were trying to grab onto each other to give support, but she was having a hard time. “If the Empress is having trouble sleeping, the doctors must be called. Why did you not inform the Emperor about this?”

“The Empress did not wish for anyone to know. A weak Empress is a target of the power-hungry. She was scared of being disposed of. Rosa closed her eyes and leaned back.

Her brain ached. ‘Dignity, this crazy dignity and image people are obsessed about here.’

She pinched the top of her nose, annoyed. “The Empress would deny it if confronted, right?”

She tilted her head, trying to find some reaction.

Maria just nodded.

“And what will happen when you reveal this to the Emperor?” Rosa asked again, even though she knew what type of answer would follow.

“The Empress made me swear not to tell the Emperor… but….”
