Change of Mind (Chpt. 22)

They hang up after deciding they have to get to the other town. After going back around you get onto a

near empty street. "Okay, we'll have to go over to the next towni." The car is quiet, but the outside not so

much. Cars honking, people yelling at each other and the sounds of sirens. You can see flames flickering

in the distance. Then you see it again. He, or should I say you, is just standing there in a front yard,

smiling at you as you pass by. Then someone throws themselves in front of the car. "Go, leave this town!"

They say then run off into the city. "The fuck?" Chris says under his breath. "What's wrong?" You ask him. "Look over there." He points somewhere in front of you.

There you see someone attacking another person

and what seems to be an officer tries to get him off the person. "It's the same as before." You say as you

look on. "What is going on!" Says Elodie as she as well looks on in horror. "Sherry, don't look." She says as

she blocks the view. "What? What is it?" Sherry asks. "Something, you shouldn't look at it. It's not a good

thing. Chris can we go on?" He seems distracted for a bit. "Yeah...sure, let's go." He says as he collects

himself and moves on.

For a while no one talks but as the cars slowly lose sight of the town the tension in

the car fades. "We'll stop at a gas station and fill up our tanks." He turns into a station and parks. He stops

for a second. "Uh, if y'all want, you can get off and go to the restroom, just make sure to tell one of your

parents before you go so they know." "Okay."

You get off and stretch. Your mother comes over. "We know

that what happened back in the town was quite...disturbing." Everyone looks away. "We are trying to find

out what was happening." "Mum, that man was eating another man." You say as you look at the ground."

Everyone goes silent. "We know. We decided to stay in a nearby hotel until we know what's going on."

"...okay." She leaves with her hands held in worry. You go back into the car. Chris goes over to your

fathers car and talks with him. After talking he comes back and gets in the car. "Um, we are going to stay

at a hotel. We are also trying to figure out what happened back...there." "Mhm." Then he starts driving off.

"Serran, wake up." You hear as you feel someone shaking you. "What?" You say as you rub your eyes.

"We arrived." You hear Emma say as you open your eyes and look outside. It's very dark and you can

see some stars in the sky. "We arrived?" You ask as you sit straight. "Yes, now come." She says as she

exits the car. You open the door and step outside and stretch. Then you catch up to everyone else and

enter.
