Chapter 21 - Junior High!

Chapter 21 - Junior High!

"Ugh…" I groaned, attempting to roll my body. However, there was no bed. Rather, I was stuck to a chair with my limbs restrained.

"Crap." I weakly mumbled, heightening my lousy senses.

My heart raced- unnaturally fast for someone who just woke up- as I observed the room. It was pitch black, lit only by a single dim yellow bulb that hung above my head. Did I get kidnapped?

"The Sankta is alive! Contact Rhine; it's a success," an unfamiliar commanding voice echoed in the room.

I'm back in Terra from the sounds of it, but what was Rhine? And why did I have to wake up with such a headache of a situation?

Mentally sighing, I attempted to resist the restraints, but my limbs were too numb for any movement. My heart stopped.

I had no escape.

My breathing quickly became erratic as several pairs of green lights emerged from the darkness, getting larger and larger.

Once the green lights entered the zone lit by the lone bulb, I saw-Hazmat suits; were they scientists? Surely, I wasn't special enough for experimentation...

"Seal her heart. And you- notify the minister of our success. We finally found a Lateran secret!"

With my voice caught in my throat, a pale gas was revealed by the dim light. Staring into the abyssal green light of the men in hazmat suits, I slowly felt my eyes being weighed down again.

---

"Clukay?"

Waking up with the sight of Rimuru's face inches away from mine, I jolted back into my seat. I immediately reached out for my rifle, which was laid next to me. Ignoring the strange stares I was receiving, I felt my heartbeat slowing down as I tugged on the rifle.

The dark room was just a bad dream. This is reality. I'm in a car now.

"PTSD?" An unfamiliar voice asked from the driver's seat.

Right... this is Karasuma-sensei, the man who would be our guide for the school. This isn't Terra anymore; they don't even see my Sankta features here.

"What are the Europeans doing with kids?" Karasuma-sensei muttered with discontentment as he began to park the car.

Once I've managed to stop myself from feeling like a Parkinson's patient, I exited the car with the others.

"This is Kunugigaoka Junior High School. I've heard you're all special weapons developed by the world government. Follow me, I'll begin the details of the mission," Karasuma said, leading us to a campus the size of a regional airport.

"So luxurious…" Jinwoo instantly became enamoured with the tall buildings and large fields.

"Don't be too infatuated. We're assigned to class 3-E, the bottom feeders of this school. You won't be able to access the main facilities." Karasuma quickly shattered Jinwoo's expectations.

After a few minutes of trekking up a hillside, we arrived at an old-looking wooden building. Following Karasuma-sensei inside the building, which was cleaner than it looked, we arrived at the door to our homeroom.

Karasuma-sensei opened the classroom door to reveal a tall yellow octopus and a group of kids chatting.

"Everyone, we have some new members of the class today. Some are from foreign governments to aid us. Treat them well." Karasuma announced, silencing the class.

With the whole room's attention on us, Jinwoo became the first one to step in.

"Um… I'm Sung-Jinwoo. Just call me Jinwoo. I'm Korean." With a slightly awkward introduction, Jinwoo quickly made his way to an empty seat before questions could be asked.

"My name is Zhongli. I will be your assistant homeroom teacher and your social studies teacher." Whilst iconically sipping his tea, Zhongli made his way next to the yellow octopus, our teacher and target.

"Zhongli-sensei, are you single?" A student raised her hand and asked.

"Hm? I suppose yes." Zhongli responded, sparking some murmurs amongst the students.

"We don't have much time, so leave your questions for later." Karasuma interrupted, forcing other students to lower their hands with disappointment.

"Well, I guess I'm next. My name is Rimuru, and I like food. I'm also a guy, by the way." Rimuru cheerfully introduced himself before taking his seat.

"Not another Nagisa!" A voice from the back of the class rang sarcastically.

"Shut up, Karma!" A boy, presumably Nagisa, retorted, causing a wave of laughter in the class.

It didn't feel like a room of killers, people tasked with saving humanity. Quite a reflection of the alien.

After a few seconds, the class calmed down to allow for the introduction of the final transfer student, me.

"My name's Clukay-" Before I could finish my introduction, the bell marked the end of the homeroom.

"Ah, unfortunately, homeroom has ended. I'm Koro-sensei. I look forward to teaching you three. As for Zhongli-sensei, I look forward to working with you too. Now if you would excuse me, I will be heading out for some Pho!" With his introduction, the yellow octopus, Koro-sensei, disappeared in a flash leaving behind a small whirlwind.

"He's out for food again… Anyways, I'm Nagisa. Nice to meet you." A blue-haired feminine boy, reminiscent of Rimuru, approached me for a handshake.

"I'm Clukay. Nice to meet you too." I accepted the handshake and began to follow the horde of students to the next class.

"Next should be social studies. Do you personally know Zhongli-sensei?"

"I suppose so."

"Hm… What is he like?"

"An old man."

With an unsure look on Nagisa's face, we quickly reached the classroom down the hallway and parted ways. I took a seat near the window, near Rimuru and Jinwoo.

I was personally curious about how Zhongli would teach this class. After all, he was only sent the syllabus yesterday.

"Good morning, class. I'm your new teacher. To start, we'll be starting the topic… Development of early economics." Zhongli calmly began once everyone became settled. With a book in hand, he began to teach naturally.

"We'll start with the concept of mercantilism…"

Although I had a feeling that he was just reading off the book in his hand, Zhongli's tone and mannerisms exuded a sense of professionalism. I should ask Zhongli how to do it later... It may come in useful.

With Zhongli's lecture in the background, I began to daydream outside of the window. Speaking of dreams- that dream earlier...

"Wait, why is Koro-sensei watching the lesson whilst eating outside the window?" I murmured to myself, realising an odd yellow shape.

Clearing my thoughts, I prepared my pistol for a quick test.

Been getting like 20 excercises of math homework daily, feeling burnt out from studies.
