Chapter Eleven

Nikkos looked at me with a frown and I just shrugged in response. It probably wasn’t the best thing to say when the shadow girl was looking seconds away from adding murder to her list. Although it was weird that the sweet girl the lady described was looking like the people in the forest and it made me wonder why she wasn’t dead like the others.

“What do you mean, ‘they told you about us’?” Nikkos asked, keeping his eyes trained on the ticking time bomb.

“Who are they?” I followed up.

“The people that want you dead. They said you might come here and if I kill you then I’ll be promoted.” She grinned and her teeth seemed to be decaying.

Nikkos growled, “Over my dead body.”

I readied my sword.

“That’s the plan!” The girl charged but as she was closing in on Nikkos so switched to attack me and before she could I jumped to the left and Nikkos sent out a blast from his hand, making her stumble back.
