Chapter 0003 - The Secret Heirloom

*****

In the middle of a street, that had nonstop people walking by, a young man, who was in blood was presently trashing and crying wildly on the ground with agony, but the passersby only glanced interestingly at him before going their way, acting as though they couldn't see that he was in pain.

The young man was Ares, whom his bully had already left behind.

He continued crying for a long time, feeling the most immense pain of his life.

The intense agony persisted for around thirty minutes, an unusually prolonged duration compared to his previous experiences. Then, as usual, whenever he suffered injuries, the green orb-shaped gem pendant hanging from a tiny rope around his neck began to emit a warm glow, sending a comforting sensation coursing through Ares' body.

Normally, the glow, which only Ares could see would only flash for a bit before disappearing, but as the pain and Injury he was inflicted upon this time around was stronger than anything he had ever experienced before in his life, the glow continued to brighten more with each passing moment and before long, Ares had appeared like a son, completely illuminating the area he was lying and turning it into a day.

The scene was so magical, but unfortunately, something which Ares was already used to and a reason he still couldn't understand till today, nobody saw even the slightest trace of the brightness.

To everybody other than him, the color of the late evening was still the same.

This glow lasted for a very long time before suddenly, the light disappeared as though it had never appeared before.

Normally, it would return to its normal state, a stone-like orb, but this time, as the orb was around Ares's neck, and near his chest where he had been punched, a drop of his blood suddenly hit it, and instantly, a magical transformation began to occur to it.

As though it was shedding its skin, the pendant's color began to change rapidly, soon becoming an incredibly beautiful translucent orb, with beautiful engraving on it.

It did not stop there, a type of aura suddenly shot out of it, scaring every single soul in Rex City for a second before disappearing into the sky, looking as though it was sending a message.

Everybody who felt this sudden fear was confused, but then they ignored the feeling since it only lasted for less than a second.

That was that.

In a gathering of incredibly wealthy and the top controllers of Rex City, a man of one of the highest caliber, gaining the envious and flattering gazes of the others suddenly went blank, and then his heart skipped a bit.

"I… I… I need to go, some… something urgent came up."

The man abruptly jumped up, dumbfounding everybody to their core.

Before they could react, however, the man had run away.

Nobody was still able to react.

"That… did Master Lewis just lose his composure there?"

Everybody's mouth opened wide with disbelief as ever since the man was known, he had never lost his composure for any reason, even when his treasured wife, the only woman he loved to the end of the world was on her death bed.

"What could have come up?"

Everybody began to mumble, communicating with each other while having all sorts of wild guesses.

...

"Drive me to the estate straight away!"

The middle-aged man, Lewis immediately yelled at his driver as soon as he got into the car.

The driver was also shocked to the core, but feeling his master's urgency, he pressed harder on the pedal.

Throughout the journey, he could tell how greatly unrest the man had become, constantly looking ahead and asking whether they'd gotten to the estate or not.

As soon as they got to the estate, he jumped out of the car and ran inside, rushing until he reached his room.

He fumbled for a while before suddenly, a secret compartment opened from one of the walls, and then the man rushed inside without hesitation.

It was a small room with nothing but a table, a chair, and then a weird-looking holding plate and quill stick on it.

The man picked up the quill stick and inserted his qi into it without hesitation.

"Everybody, I just felt the aura of the master's seal just now! I think the master is in Rex City!!"

The middle-aged man wrote into the golden plate, trembling so much and even stuttering, despite merely writing.

As soon as he was done writing, he expected a response to come late, but then to his shock, a bombarding of writings began to appear one after the other.

"Dang!!! I felt the aura just now! I've been dying to know which city it came from!!!"

"Boohoo!!! A trace of the master is finally discovered after all these years of searching!!!"

"Guys!! I rushed straight here as soon as I felt the aura!! To think you undying foggies were even faster than me!!"

"Old Lewis!!! Should I send men one-million men warriors to come and turn that little town of yours over to search for the master, so that he can finally take over the responsibility he had left on us all these years!!"

"Yeah, that's right, Old Lewis. I can even leave my identity behind and rush over straight away to come to aid the search!!!"

"Ma…"

"Old…"

Had the golden plate been a mobile phone, it would have already busted from constant and nonstop tonnes of notifications.

The messages were appearing on it one after the other, even before each one finished appearing.

Reading all this, the middle-aged man Lewis began to grin from face to face.

He could tell that all his old friends were incredibly excited, from their messages, as so was his, and if left to most of them, they would stop at nothing to fish out the master right immediately, but considering the great risk and what was at stake, it couldn't be done like that.

Once again infusing his qi into the quill, the middle-aged man writes. "Old bastards, just calm your excited ass down first! Duh!!! The master is found in my jurisdiction, so, don't you dare put your mouth in what does not concern you. I will find the master myself, without alerting the enemies!"

"You fucking bastard! How dare you call this old father an old bastard! Are you, not an old bastard yourself, clocking 400 or more years this year!!"

As soon as the middle-aged man Lewis was done writing, another bombardment of messages began to appear on his plate, with most of his friends cursing him, a friendly one, of course.

…..

Unaware that his pendant, the only thing he had on him, other than his name since he even knew how to speak had already woken up a bunch of excited old foggies, whose age was probably more than the entire human of Rex City combined up.

Ares soon rises, after his pendant has done its work.

He clutched the pendant tightly against his chest, his eyes presently filled with so much hatred.

Ares wasn't shocked about his fast healing. This had always been the case for him since he was little, so, it was already normal to him now, and if left to how fast he got healed, he would have never cared about getting injured again, but the pain of every injury had always been real.

"Sarah! After all… after everything I've done for you, sacrificing my life and my everything to make you happy, to think that not only had you been cheating on me all these years, but that you will even send people to beat me up and cripple me!" He growled, his fists tightly clenched.

After a while, Ares breathed deeply and then he turned in a particular direction and left.

"This will not end here, I promise." He mumbled to himself with a scary voice.
