Feudal Levels

[Your Majesty]

King/Queen - Rulers of the country.

[Your Royal Highness]

Crown Prince/Princess - They are the next in line for the throne. They are given powers just below the King or Queen themselves. They are not allowed to have any military power though, due to instances in the past of coup's being committed by them to gain their power faster.

[Your Highness]

Duke - Dukes are long and established families who hold an immense amount of power within the kingdom. They are given large swaths of territory, with several nobles underneath them. They are also granted estates within the capital. Most ducal families live in their own territory, but some choose to live in the capital. Only the heads of the house are referred to as your highness, while their children are referred to as lord or lady.

Prince/Princess - Regular princes or princesses are lower ranking than Ducal families. This is typically because a Duchy has a long and established history and are the main fighting force of the kingdom. While they may rank lower than a ducal family, they are still treated with respect.

[Lord/Lady]

Marquis - Another forgotten rank due to small numbers, marquis' are typically war hero families. They generally focus on either magic or knighthood.

Count - These are the first rank of nobility with a large enough plot of land for it to be called a territory. They serve under either a marquis or duke directly.

Mage - Mages, while not nobility inherently, are seen as a higher rank due to their rarity and high strength. This typically refers to a mage at or below the 3rd circle, as mages above that are typically given honorary noble titles. ie: the master of the magic tower is an honorary Marquis at the 6th circle or Grand Mage level.

Viscount - Viscounts are typically referred to as 'the forgotten rank' due to their low numbers. They typically serve under a count.

Baron - Barons are the lowest rank of nobility. They typically aren't a very established family typically and are the highest rank a non-human can receive without extenuating circumstances.

[Ser]

Knight - Knights are people who have gone down the martial path for the kingdom. Soldiers are all referred to as knights. Many commoners become knights for the high pay and ability to travel into the noble districts without owning property. Their title of Ser is unisex and refers to both men and women.

[No honorifics]

Commoner - Merchants, skilled laborers, and the educated. Commoners also live in the slums typically, though some are able to live in the noble district. Commoners are generally given better circumstances than the peasants and are typically cleaner and healthier.

Peasant - Laborers, Bazaar Runners, Dirty jobs. Peasants are low-paid laborers who typically live in the slums. Most peasants are inhuman species, excluding elves, dwarves, and beastmen. Any non-citizen is instantly classified as a peasant in Gaera.
