Part 23 - Never Again
In the Undercity, Lucy finally begins to wake up from her unconscious state. Once she wakes up, the first things her eyes see is the ceiling of a little shack. As she looks around, she realizes that this is Silvers home.
Thanks to the layout, slightly destructed furniture, but most of all, the sleeping Silver, it's obvious this is his home. As Lucy sits up on the floor mat, she smiles at the sight of Silver sleeping.
While she looks at him, his eyes suddenly open. He almost instantly looks towards her. "Thanks for getting me safe." Lucy thanks Silver, as he begins to stand up from his laying position. After thanking him, she looks under the blankets that she's under. Witnessing that all she's wearing is a bra and panties, a panicked expression covers her face. That is until she notices her clothes hanging up. "You didn't have to dry my clothes." Lucy says with a generous tone, as Silver sits down in a chair that's now held together with duck tape and nails.
"Stop acting like we haven't known eachother our entire lives." Silver says with a chuckle. "If you kept those wet clothes on, you could've gotten sick." Silver comments, while looking eye to eye with Lucy.
Lucy smiles slightly. Silver turns away, and Lucys smile begins to drop as she watches him in deep
thought. "I thought Silco killed you." Lucy points out. In response to that, Silver remains silent
However that silence doesn't stop Lucy from questioning recent events. "Why didn't you stab Jinx?" Lucy asks, while focusing on Silver. "I always had a suspicion that you liked her when we were younger. Is that why?" Lucy mentions with a follow up question.
Silver looks down with his head lowered after being asked that question from Lucy. "Nope. That's not why." Silver confirms, before letting out a sigh, and turning his head to face Lucy. "It's because I saw Powder." Silver adds.
"Do you still believe she's too far gone?" Lucy asks, in reference to their talk a couple of days ago.
Silvers face immediately grows skeptical with that question. "I honestly don't know. I do think Powder is in there somewhere. But I don't know if we can bring her back. I don't know, it's weird. It's like when I was looking at her, like looking into her eyes. It's like she was asking me to drive that knife into her head." Silver explains, before standing up from his chair, and rubbing his forehead.
"She's been through a lot. We all have." Lucy acknowledges.
"I never told you why I left, did I?" Silver turns around with that question directed towards Lucy. Lucy shakes her head in response to Silvers question. "Okay, well I'm gonna tell you. The reason I left, is because I hated what Powder was turning into. And I started realizing more and more that it was my fault that she ended up the way that she did. If I hadn't continued encouraging her, and listened to you instead, maybe she wouldn't have set off those bombs six years ago, killing Claggor." As Silver explains, Lucy looks and feels very sympathetic and understanding.
"So yeah. Then I started thinking that my words wouldn't help her. Because when have they ever? My words caused the death of Claggor. Got split up from Vi, and got Vander killed. Maybe if I just shut up, and let things play out, everyone would've been better off." The more Silver talks, the more emotional he starts to get. By the end of his explanation, Lucy is standing in front of him with the blankets wrapped around her body.
"You're not the only one who wish they did something different." Lucy acknowledges. Despite Silver not giving her eye contact, she moves in, and gives him a hug anyway.
"Anyways," Silver says, making Lucy break the hug, and look up at him. "I told you this now, because I'm done running away from it. Done running away from Jinx or Powder or whatever." Silver confirms, as Lucy slowly begins to smile.
"Does that mean you're gonna try to talk to her?" Lucy questions. As Lucy questions, Silver sits back down in his chair.
"It's a possibility." Silver responds calmly, as Lucy begins to smile even more than she just was. "That aside. You and me have gotta make up for lost time. I mean it's a must." Silver turns to look at Lucy with a smile on his face. A smile that Lucy hasn't gotten to see in a long time.
Immediately after, Silver and Lucy continue to talk. Lucy explains where Vi has been this entire time. While Silver explains how he survived nearly getting killed by Silco. Both of them are surprised and flabbergasted at the responses they receive from eachother. Despite that, it's clear that they're happy to be talking to eachother again. Silver also mentions that he followed Lucy after fear that Jinx would hurt her. That's how he encountered a group called the firelights, and knew of Caitlyn. How he knew to follow the enforcers after they mentioned Caitlyn.
"Mylo is also alive..he's apart of that group that took Vi away. The firelights. From what I've been told by Ekko, and what I'm assuming, their goal is to take down Silcos empire." Silver says to Lucy, and Lucy quickly fills with disbelief, but mainly relief at the idea that they're all okay. "I'm not sure about you, but I want to help them." Silver says, as he pulls out the flare that he received from Ekkko, and stares down at it.
"Who did this?" Silco ask Dr. Singe, as he walks into a now destroyed laboratory, with shimmer spilled all over the floors.
Singe who's on his knees mourning the destruction of his lab, looks up at Silco. "It was the boy..shimmer from the pond entered his bloodstream." Dr. Singe explains, as Silcos face grows with shock, but mainly anger.
On the topside, Jayce and the other council members discuss how they're going to go about retrieving the gemstone. "It's clear that we need more enforcers for this task..I say we should send as many enforcers as possible to the Undercity, in search of the gemstone." Mel proposes to the others.
"How do we know the gemstone is in the Undercity?" Shoola questions. Mel averts her attention to Jayce, who politely stands up.
"My time in the Undercity, I saw multiple writings of the name Jinx. With a similar style, and replicated colors. I will show proof if needed. This is no coincidence. Whoever this or these people are, come from the Undercity." Jayce says to the rest of the group. While Viktor smiles on the opposite side of the door. "We need to locate this Jinx character. I feel that will lead us very close to the location of the gemstone." Jayce says to the others.
While in the Undercity, Jinx sits on top of a very tall rail, with one of her legs dangling over the edge in a carefree manner. She sits, while staring down at others within the Undercity. "Well duh..first I gotta get that gemstone back. Those dumb firelight weirdos always come to ruin plans. I'll take 'em out though." Jinx says, as she begins to smile, despite hearing and seeing things over her shoulder, and whispering in her ear.
"Jinx.." Some masked guy calls out to Jinx from beside her. So Jinx turns to look at the masked man with a tilted head. "That's my name, don't ware it out." Jinx says, while staring hard at the man. He looks like an average Undercity person, with green hair.
"I want to team up with you." The man proposes, and Jinx suddenly raises her eyebrow, while swinging her feet back and forth over the rail.
"Hmph." Jinx slowly stands up, with her hand on her chin, raised eyebrow, and slight smirk as if she's examining the man before her. "To team up means I have to trust you. Are you asking me to trust you Mr. Stranger?" Jinx questions as she moves in closely to the man with a smile.
"Yes.." The masked man responds, before taking his mask off. The moment his mask comes off, Jinx freezes for a split second while looking at him. He looks very Similar to Silver. Such a resemblance causes Jinx to hear and see things again. Once good things, that are not so good anymore.
"Hmph." Her slight smile returns, as she tilts her head very slightly, while staring into the mans soul with a psychotic stare. Then she leans into the man closer, to whisper these words into his ear. "Wrong answer." Such words sends fear through his spine. Despite the man looking like Silver, Jinx points the gun up to the mans chin, and pulls the trigger.
Once she does, the man's eyes go completely white. Blood leaks from the top of his head, and he falls over the rail, and down over seventy feet. "Guess I've gotten stronger." Jinx says with a giggle, before blowing the pink smoke that emits from her gun, with a smile. All while she watches the man fall down, with a trail of his blood following behind him.
Afterwards, Ekko and Mylo walk into a room. In that very room, Vi begins to regain her consciousness. She looks towards Mylo and Ekko with more than shock on her face. She looks at them with radiating relief. And not too far away, Silver uses the flare, which emits the orange smoke again. With Lucy directly by his side, the two wait for the firelights to come.
