Chapter 1

-[?]-

"Well, this is exciting." He muttered sarcastically as he looked around.

He was in what seemed to be a blank warehouse and was seated in front of a large computer. All he did was click on an ad on his computer and he found himself here.

'Wherever here is…' he thought, not able to make any sense of it.

Before he could start making guesses on where he was, the large computer in front of him suddenly lit up.

[Welcome to the Young Justice CYOA Version 1.0!]

[You have 1000CP to spend!]

"The hell…" he muttered as he finished reading it.

He wouldn't call himself a weeb but he was familiar with the term 'Young Justice'…or rather, the series that it was.

He was sure that he would have shot out of his seat but for some reason, he couldn't muster up the strength to get up.

After a minute or so of trying, and failing, to get up, he sighed before turning his attention back to the large computer.

"It seems I have no choice." He muttered, a bit disgruntled as he began interacting with the somewhat familiar set up.

It was more or less a typical CYOA. He had done a few of these for fun some time ago so he was familiar with how it worked.

The first section was to determine the location his character would start in. There were options like Happy Harbor, Gotham, Metropolis and the likes.

He could decide to spend 50CP to choose a location or roll a dice and leave it up to luck. Wanting to save his points, he chose to roll the dice.

[You have selected New York City!]

"Not bad." He moved to the next section which was 'Backstory'.

There were four options; Drop in, Vigilante, Mystic and Superhuman. The first two were free but the latter two cost 100CP.

In all the rpg games he had played, he always picked mage due to its versatility. In DC, it was even more versatile, making his choice easy as he chose 'Mystic'.

[You have selected Mystic!]

[Cp:900]

The next section was 'Race'. Once again, four options presented themselves; Human, Atlantean, Human Kryptonian Hybrid and Martian.

Atlantean was immediately ruled out due to the disadvantages outside water and while the latter two were interesting, they cost 400CP and 800CP respectively.

For the amount of weaknesses that a Human Kryptonian had, the price was too high when he could compensate for it with magic. The same went for the Martian option. It might have been his dislike for getting physical speaking but it was a valid enough reason for him.

[You have selected Human!]

[CP:900]

It was free so that made it even more enticing. The next section was 'Skills', this was where it was going to get interesting.

It was a long list but after a quick skim, he found the ones that he wanted.

•••

[Peak Condition: A combination of good genetics and your active, hectic lifestyle means that your body is always at the peak of what's possible for a human. This doesn't grant extra intelligence, but it does increase your brain's processing power and grants great memory recall, as well as sharper senses. (100 CP)]

•••

He may not have liked getting physical but that didn't mean he would completely ignore it.

•••

[Basic Magic: You've got basic knowledge of magic, and can perform minor spells, such as changing the colors of objects, weakening objects, and summoning small objects or animals. (Free Mystic)]

[Smooth Talker: You could charm the pants off of almost anyone who will listen. Not only that, but you also keep your cool in tense situations. You're a very skilled negotiator and interrogator. (200 CP)]

[Practice Makes Perfect: You improve your abilities with practice much faster, allowing you to master them with only a few training sessions. (200 CP)]

[Warring Warlock: Your magical techniques are enhanced when used against another practitioner of magic, turning every fireball into an inferno and every force field or ward into an impenetrable barrier. Not only does it look flashy, but your onslaught can actually disrupt their spell casting, making countering your magic harder. (300 CP, 50% Mystic Discount: 150 CP)]

[Advanced Magic: Your magical potential increases greatly, giving you much more magical power and a greater capability for casting powerful magic. You are now capable of much greater magical heights; and are at least on par with Zatanna. (400 CP, 50% Mystic Discount: 200 CP)]

•••

[CP:50]

All of those purchases left him with just a meager amount of CP. Unfortunately, there were still more things he wanted to get.

His eyes furrowed as he remembered something, quickly sifting through the remaining options. 'If I'm right, it should be here.' He thought, a smile coming to his face as he reached the 'Drawbacks' section.

While it wasn't exactly the best idea to take drawbacks in an already dangerous world, the skills he'd be able to buy would be worth it.

•••

[Broken Home: They say every functional family looks the same, but every dysfunctional family is broken in its own unique way. However it happened, your family life was cold and hard, and everyday was a struggle. Maybe you found out your father was secretly a supervillain, and he reacted violently when you refused to follow in his footsteps. Or perhaps your older brother turned you in to the police after you came to him for shelter, betraying you and turning his back on you in your time of need. You either have painful memories of your childhood that you'll have to deal with sooner or later, or members of your close family are actively hostile to you. (+200 CP)]

[Orphaned: You had a great relationship with your family, and you all loved each other more than anything. Then your parents were killed, right in front of your very eyes. After this event you were either raised in an orphanage, by a responsible older sibling, or by a family friend. You never fully recovered from the trauma, and while you can live a normal life the memories have haunted you ever since. Expect to have nightmares, as well as issues with raising a family of your own. If this is taken with Broken Home, one of your family members directly caused the death of the others, the ones who truly loved you, and will resurface sooner or later with plans for you. (+200 CP)]

[Never A Dull Moment: And never a moment of rest. While the threats you face aren't any more dangerous than before, they sure do seem to crop up a lot more than usual. You'll get about a week, at best, between missions or threats, but most days will be spent dealing with whatever problems, no matter how small, that crop up. (+200 CP)]

[Blinded by the Light: The Light have identified you as a major threat to their plans, and will spend a significant amount of time trying to find a way to kill you or otherwise dispose of you. (+300 CP)]

[Bounty: You've got a massive bounty on your head that will only go up; at first, you'll only attract Earth assassins and mercenaries, but over time the value of your bounty will grow to the point you attract opportunists from other worlds, possibly including The Main Man himself. (+300 CP)]

[Eventful First Day: Your first day in your new world will be particularly difficult, with threats and inconveniences alike appearing to make things interesting for you. (+300 CP)]

•••

[CP:1550]

He whistled at the amount of drawbacks, almost removing them instantly but he reminded himself that the skills he wanted to purchase would make it worth it.

He moved back to the skills section to buy the most important skill.

•••

[Incomprehensible: Incomprehensible removes and makes the user immune to any unwanted mental illnesses or mental control, and gives the user nearly limitless mental storage. In addition, those who unwantedly attack or attempt to read the user's mind with their own mental powers are in for a nasty shock as the user's mind lashes out, transferring any damage back to the user's attacker or allowing the user to browse their would-be mind reader's memories instead. (600 CP)]

•••

[CP:950]

He deemed this to be the most important skill in his entire selection.

•••

[Order Magic: The forces of Order and Chaos have always been at war with each other, and you've just picked a side. Order magic has a focus on protection and restoring the natural balance of the world, and is capable of negating and reflecting destructive magic and energy as well as repairing objects and healing others. Order magic is also capable of undoing the damage that Chaos magic and other corruptions have done, and can ward against it with near perfect ability if used preemptively. This type of magic allows their users to create force fields, shoot magical bolts, as well as fly. Users of Order Magic may be stronger than Dr. Fate or on par with him depending on his host.(600 CP, 50% Mystic Discount: 300 CP)]

•••

[CP:650]

The alternative was chaos magic and while it was just as powerful, it came with the condition of being much weaker than Klarion.

As inactive and insensitive as the lords of order were, it was better than being an agent of chaos. That and the fact that he wasn't a sociopathic murder hobo.

•••

[Drain No: Drain No makes its user immune to any attempts to steal, weaken, suppress, or remove their powers, including any internal power sources such as mana, soul(s), or chi. (400 CP)]

•••

[CP:250]

That was his insurance to make sure that his magic powers couldn't be stripped away or suppressed by anyone, not even the lords of order themselves.

With just 250 CP left, he picked an option that caught his attention.

•••

[Chlorokinesis: Chlorokinesis allows the user to control and greatly accelerate the growth of plants on the molecular level with their mind. This can be used to create hybridized plants as well as plantlike minions and creatures. (300 CP, 50% Mystic Discount: 150 CP)]

•••

[CP:100]

The main reason it caught his attention was for the minions and creatures he could create.

With the amount left, he made one final purchase.

•••

[Cash: Superhumans and Mystics get one million dollars per purchase, Drop Ins and Vigilantes get ten million. (50 CP)]

•••

He bought it twice. Powers were fun and all but that wasn't all there was to life. He was briefly tempted by the 10 million dollars for Drop Ins and Vigilantes but he quickly put it out of his mind.

He had previously skimmed through the list so he knew that there wasn't anything else that he wanted to pick.

[Are you satisfied with your selections?]

[Yes|No]

Affirming it, his sight went dark. His senses twisted and shook before sight returned to him. Before he could even begin to worry about where he was, he felt a barrage of information regarding spells and magic pour into his head.

"Be a little delicate, will you?" He complained to nobody in particular as he massaged his temple.

He immediately realized that he was lying on the floor, letting out a sigh of irritation as he got to his feet.

'So it wasn't a dream. Or maybe it still is.' He thought as he looked around.

At first glance, it looked to be the inside of a decently flower shop. Focusing on one of the plants, it was more of an instinct as it suddenly gained a more healthy color, growing to be even fuller.

"Not a dream." He muttered.

Another set of information was quickly pushed into his head with the same lack of delicacy as before. It contained the memories of what appeared to be his life here.

Andreas Stoll, that was the name that popped up in his head. As he reviewed the background that was set up for him, he could only whistle in sheer amazement.

His biological mother and sister died when he was 10, killed by none other than his biological father, Jacob Stoll or as he was better known, the Druid villain, Blackbriar Thorn.

Just before he could kill him as well, he was stopped by the arrival of Zatara. From that point, he was moved between different foster homes, each not lasting more than a year for different reasons.

When he turned 18, he was able to legally claim his mother's flower shop which had been left abandoned after her murder. With his chlorokinesis which he had supposedly inherited from his 'father', it wasn't hard to manage it.

He idly wondered whether his choice in selecting chlorokinesis played a part in Blackbriar Thorn being set as his father or whether it was already set in stone before he picked up the skill.

'No use crying over spilled milk. At least my age is still the same.' He thought, looking at the shop's reflective windows. He was currently 19.

Messy dark hair and gray eyes and studded earrings. His biological mother wore those earrings so he did the same, wanting something to remember her by.

He contemplated removing it but thought otherwise. 'It's not doing any harm. I might as well try out a new look.' He thought.

Looking at the door, he snapped his fingers, causing the 'Open' sign to glow a golden color, switching to say 'Closed'.

He whistled in appreciation. 'I don't regret my choices at all.' He thought.

-[New Orleans]-

A dark haired female in casual clothing stood in a magic parlor, a confused expression on her face. Sitter in front of her was a dark haired woman with green eyes and tanned skin. Three blue gems stood out on her forehead as a worried expression was shown on her face.

"What's wrong, Nimue? I got your message, you said it was urgent." Zatanna said in confusion.

"Yes. I felt a powerful mystic force, it's unlike any that I have ever felt." Madame Xanadu said, her concern clear.

Zatanna frowned, seeing the seriousness of the situation. "I didn't feel anything. What do you think caused it?"

"I don't know but it feels similar to Dr Fate yet different." Xanadu said, confusing Zatanna further.

"But that's impossible." Zatanna mused.

Dr Fate was a lord of order and used Order magic. If Order magic was what Madame Xanadu felt and it wasn't from Dr Fate, where did it come from?

"It was brief but I can track the last known location of the pulse and send you there." Xanadu said, gaining a nod from Zatanna.

-[Andreas]-

Walking through the streets of New York, he figured out where he was. More specifically, 'when' he was; 2016.

Kid Flash had retired, Rocket and Zatanna were now members of the Justice League, the latest additions. That meant that he was in the second season of the franchise, at least if his memories were correct.

"Is there any particular reason you're doing this?" Andreas asked, looking at the two men in front of him who were currently aiming their guns at him. "Seriously, who robs someone in broad daylight?"

"Shut up! Just give us your money and you can try and convince me to leave you alive." The first man said, tightening his grip on the gun.

Andreas was simply taking a stroll to get a feel for the environment when he was stopped by two particularly stupid 'robbers'.

"Are you daft?" Andreas wondered out loud, wondering how quick the drawbacks were to take effect.

The second man smirked cruelly. "You shouldn't have said that."

The other man now held a frown. "You really shouldn't have said that. I was going to consider letting you go before but I changed my mind."

*Bang!*

Before Andreas could speak, the man had fired a bullet into his chest. He coughed out blood before falling face first, clutching his chest.

The man spat to the side, walking up to the body that was quickly growing cold. "You asked for it." He said, as he began to search the body only to pause in shock as his hands went through it.

The body faded away into smoke as a voice was heard behind him.

"Shooting a guy when he's not done talking, really manly of you." Andreas said sarcastically.

There was a glamour spell hiding them from anyone watching. He'd silently put it up the moment they showed up.

"H-how?" The second robber muttered in shock, quickly aiming his gun at him.

Andreas simply shook his head. "Don't worry your little heads about it. You wouldn't understand."

He stretched out his hand, his palm glowing a gold color. "Somnum." He chanted.

The two men quickly fell victim, the spell forcing them to sleep as they fell flat to the ground.

"If this was what it meant by an eventful first day, I'm pleasantly underwhelmed." Andreas muttered before suddenly stiffening.

He immediately spun around, ducking out of the way of a blast of red energy.

"Oh he dodged it." An awkwardly slender young boy said, stroking a cat in his arms. The 'boy' wore formal clothing and his hair looked more like horns than hair.

Recognizing him immediately, Andreas clicked his teeth in irritation. "Me and my big mouth." He said.

"He's the one we felt? He doesn't look like much." The boy complained to the cat whose red eyes contained more intelligence than they should.

"Somehow that feels even more insulting considering the fact that you don't look like you've even reached puberty." Andreas commented, on full alert.

The 'boy' in front of him frowned childishly. "I don't like him, Teekl. Wait a minute, how come that old fart Nabu gets help? It's not fair!" He complained as the cat meowed.

Judging by the grin that formed on his face, whatever the cat said seemed to please him. "You're right Teekl. Let's kill him." The 'boy' said as his facial features twisted, his eyes glowing red as chaos magic flared over his palm.

He fired it at Andreas who waved his hand in front of him, a golden shield appearing in front of him.

His brows furrowed as the chaos magic impacted the shield which stood strong. The being in front of him was the lord of chaos, Klarion. A being who acted on his whims and pleasure…when he wasn't being Vandal Savage's pet.

The ground rumbled as a large vine shot up from behind Klarion. "Huh?" The lord of chaos muttered in confusion as the vine twisted to slap him away.

Klarion stopped his attack, quickly raising a barrier to block the vine. Using the brief moment of respite, Andreas let his shield die down, firing a beam of pure order magic at Klarion.

Just as it hit him, Klarion burst into shadows, scattering around. Andreas' keen senses alerted him as he shot into the air, narrowly avoiding a blast of chaos magic that destroyed the ground where he previously stood.

"Stay still!" Klarion screamed, shooting a beam of chaos magic from his finger.

"Ad mittator!" Andreas chanted, a golden portal opening in front of him.

As the beam flew in, another portal opened behind Klarion, releasing the attack back to Klarion.

The chaos lord grinned as it struck him, his magic crackling around him as it empowered him rather than hurt him. "Hmmm. Tangles!"

"Meow!" The cat meowed at him.

"Tingles! Tingles! He knew I meant tingles!" Klarion defended.

Hovering in the air, Andreas shook his head. "Looks like the cat's the smart one between you two." He quipped.

As Klarion growled, Andreas began chanting. "Ardebit in cinere!"

A powerful stream of fire shot from his hand, spreading and engulfing the witch boy. Moments later, Klarion flew out of the covering of flames, unharmed besides the smoke emitting from his shoulders.

"Die you stupid kid!" Klarion yelled as numerous orbs of chaos magic hovered around him. Mimicking a gun with his fingers, he 'fired' as the orbs shot beams of chaos energy at Andreas.

"Dleihs!" A feminine voice echoed, a blue shield appearing between them, blocking the attack.

Their attention was drawn to a black haired female in what looked to be a female magician's outfit.

"You?! What are you doing here?!" Klarion whined childishly.

Seeing the distraction, Andreas took his opportunity. A vine shot out of the ground, moving at high speed and whipping Klarion's cat, sending it flying far up the street.

"Teekl!" Klarion screamed in shock before turning to Andreas. "I can't believe you would hurt a defenseless pussy cat!"

"Yeah right, and I'm Batman." Andreas countered sarcastically as Klarion began fading in and out.

"I'll get you for this!" Klarion declared, a portal opening up behind him and sucking him into it.

He popped out of another portal beside Teekl, picking up the cat and teleporting away through another.

Andreas was still alert in case Klarion came back. After a few moments, he was sure that Klarion was gone.

"Great timing." Andreas said, relieved.

He was very much aware that this wasn't Klarion's full power. It was why he hadn't gone for the cat until he was sure he had a clear shot.

"Really? You looked like you were handling yourself pretty well." Zatanna said.

-[Zatanna]-

Madame Xanadu sent her to the last known location of the mystic pulse but it led her to a street in New York.

There was nothing out of place, the most interesting thing she found was the flower shop that had lush and beautiful plants and flowers that could be seen from outside.

She made a mental note to get some when she wasn't busy but she was quickly drawn by the sounds of battle and the familiar feeling of Klarion's magic.

She had followed it only to be led to a fight between the Witchboy and a dark haired male in casual clothing.

Though she had arrived towards the end of the fight and barely helped, she couldn't help but be impressed. He looked no older than she was but he was able to somewhat hold his own against Klarion.

"Who are you? I haven't heard of a magic user of your caliber, certainly not one…this young." Zatanna inquired.

"You say that like I'm a kid. You don't look any older than I am." He retorted, descending to the ground.

"Sorry." She apologized.

She caught a glimpse of the fight and it was obvious that he was the source of the mystic force.

"I guess it's alright. The name's Andreas and you must be Zatanna." The now identified Andreas said, stretching out his hand in greeting.

Her addition to the league wasn't exactly quiet so her face was known and recognizable.

"Yeah that's right." Zatanna said, shaking the outstretched hand. "Do you know why Klarion was after you?"

Andreas shrugged. "Beats me. He doesn't exactly scream 'genius'." He mocked the chaos lord.

She had to hold back a laugh because he wasn't exactly wrong. Klarion wasn't particularly bright but he did have his moments, rare as they were.

More importantly, she hadn't heard of anyone called Andreas in the magical aspect of the world. With what she had witnessed, she expected to have at least heard his name before.

For some reason, there was something familiar about the name. She just couldn't put her finger on it.

"Well let's get out of here before he decides to come back." Zatanna proposed.

"And where exactly do you suppose we go?" He asked. "A glamour charm can hide us from non magical humans but no kind of glamor is hiding us from a Chaos lord."

That got her to raise a brow. "That begs the question, how did you know he was a chaos lord?" She asked.

The dry look he gave her almost made her regret asking. "He wasn't exactly subtle about it." Andreas said, lightly dusting off his clothes.

He put his palms together, chanting under his breath. By the time he finished, the destroyed pavement and holes in the ground covered up and fixed themselves, hiding any previous signs of damage.

He smirked as he finished. "It's all in the wrist." He joked, getting a small laugh from her. "So, where do we go from here?"

-[Unknown Location]-

Klarion, who had managed to stabilize Teekl, stood in a conference room with an aged but stern looking man with three scars over his face.

"Klarion, what did I say about impulse action." Vandal Savage said, as if warning a child.

"It's not fair. I want a do over! Why does Nabu get help?" Klarion complained.

The other members of their organization were not present to see the current interaction.

"You are aware of the disposition of your fellow chaos lords. Besides, there are other matters to attend to. Blackbriar Thorn fathered a child to carry on his legacy but now that child has become a problem." Vandal explained, humming in thought.

"I forgot about that. How the hell did that happen?" Klarion asked, genuinely confused.

"Blackbriar Thorn chose a homo magi to bear his seed in the hopes that he would sire a capable child. His expectations were right but he did not account for the boy's mother's history and disposition, and so it cost him." Vandal explained.

It was truly an odd situation but the boy was a wild card. How he managed to get the direct back of the lords of order was baffling and incomprehensible.

His very existence was a threat to his plans. He needed to be dealt with.
