Chapter 17
Jason stood in the mirror in his new attire. It was a black suit typical of the year 2010 of earth. His shirt was a very dark red silk button up. He also wore a bracelet with the Kovar insignia, an anvil embossed with a crossed mage staff and longsword on it. The most amazing thing about this bracelet was that it was a spatial storage device, with a space of two meters cubed inside.
Jason was shocked to recieve such a gift. while he had imagined that spacial tools existed, as this world was similar to games he played and books he read in his youth, he had imagined that such treasures would be extremly rare.
"While storage devices are expensive they are not that rare. There are to pasic types with each having its own advantage. The first is forged storage devices, which includes rings, necklaces, bracelets and a few others. The second is tailored storage devices, which typically are bags and backpacks. They are all divided into tier one to tier nine, and silver to platinum. The advantage of tailored devices is they are easier to make and have more space when of a equal tier. The advantage of forged devices are that they will not weaken with time, they also are less likely to be destroyed. silver storage devices can hold other storage devices but only if they are empty, while gold can hold silver devices but not gold ones, platinum can hold gold or silver but not platinum. " Jess explained.
"So what level is my storage device, Jess" Jason asked.
"Your bracelet is a tier two silver storage device. It probably cost two gold for this ring. For silver storage devices it cost roughly one gold per tier. For gold grade storage devices it costs fifty gold per tier. Platinum grade costs ten platinum coins for every tier. " Jess told Jason.
"Jess how much is a platinum worth? I already figured out that one silver is equal to one hundred copper, and that one gold is equal to one thousand silver." Jason was confused as no-one had mentioned anything about a platinum coin even though he had been in this world for over a month.
"One platinum is equal to ten thousand gold, dad. The reason you haven't heard about it yet is that platinum is something only those peak wizards and higher really use. even the Marquess probably only makes about five platinum in a year and after taxes and providing for the March he will only have one left for himself if he is lucky. Most dukes earn thirty-five platinum a year. of this they spend ten on taxes, ten will go to their ancestor who will be a second ascender most likely a Sentinel, ten will go to managing their dutchy, while the remaining five will belong to the Duke. It is rare for anyone weaker than a second ascended (I.e. someone who has ascended two times) to earn platinum and even rarer for an individual to do so. " Jess explained concisely.
The door opened and the butler, Rienard, stood at the door. "Master Jason it is time to leave the carriage is waiting downstairs." Reinard politely informed Jason.

"Jason I really like your outfit. what is it called? and how did you think of it? " Joseph asked. Joseph was wearing a ditto, a suit commonly worn by nobility during the early 1800s. His was a also black and a dark crimson, as these were the colors of the Kovar clan.
"My outfit is called a suit. It can also be worn with a vest but I decided against it as I was told i would have to go through three duals today. " Jason responded.
"Wait you mean you inted to dual in your formal wear? I thought you had brought armour in your storage bracelet!" Tabitha exclaimed .
"Those clothes must have cost you an entire gold and now you are going to ruin them!" Anna said.
"No need to worry. First off the master tailor agreed to make this for me for free since I gave him the design and as long as I continue to give him designs in the future he will make my outfits for free with me only providing materials. Second this blazer and the pants were made from the iron lamb skin. Even though it is soft it has great defense. Thirdly my shirt is made of Giant Ice Spider silk giving it better defense than my other clothes, it also helps me stay cool in this weather. " Jason informed them.
"Those materials are usually used for mage armour helped buy runic inscriptions. you do realize as a mage your duals will be with warriors so you need to be careful. There will be no spar medallion in the duals, so you need to keep your distance and try to cast as fast as possible. " Joseph informed his brothe-to-be politely.
"Actually I was planning to fight them as a warrior, I have had many duals with Anna as a mage, but I want to see how i fair as a warrior versus others of the same tier. " Jason shared his thoughts on the coming dual.
"Well you have been training with War Blade, so you should be able to keep from being to hurt and if you are lucky you might when one or two of your duals. So what weapon has the old man been training you in?" Gerald asked with some interest.
"What weapon? Don't you know how War Blade is training me and Thomas?" Jason asked in confusion.
"Not really. War Blade doesnt answer to me on most things. He told me to ask you if I was curious." Gerald said with a little embarrassment.
"I do not use a weapon currently as I still cannot beat the training dummy. he will only start to teach weapon skills once we satisfy his condition for unarmed combat." Jason explained.
Tabitha and Gerald shared a look. Obviously Jason was a terrible fighter as he couldn't even beat a level 6 knight apprentice. They would be shocked to know it was a knight squire puppet instead of a knight apprentice one. " Jason it would better if you fought as a mage. Your first opponent will be your level, if you pass the next opponent will be two tiers higher and a level two knight squire. your third opponent doesnt matter as you will obviously fail. They will also all be using weapons that they are trained in. " Gerald tried to change Jason's mind.
"Well I won't die either way so I would rather test my skills as a warrior against those of my peers." Jason said after some thought. Admittedly he didn't have much hope as the puppet kicked his a** even without a weapon. however he wanted to try, he was better than Thomas so maybe he could beat at least his first opponent.
Tabitha and Anna looked very nervous at this proposition. Gerald stared at Jason before finally sighing, "Ok, I think it is foolish but at least you have a strong spine. Just try not to get to hurt. "
"I will do my best." Jason said just as the carriage came to a stop.
Rolling down the window so the guard could see the occupants of the carriage Gerald signed his and everyone's name before handing the clipboard back to the guard.
"Marquess Kovar, you and your family can head on in. The steward will announce you after the king and queen have taken their seats, just wait in the foray until you are called. All the other nobility is already waiting in the Grand Throne Room. " The guard captain waved the family through.
