Chapter 5: Training, Becoming More, and Escape Part 2

????'s Journal, Day 493:

Recently, Hydra has been changing their approach towards my training. They're now trying to teach me everything they can. I've noticed that my progress is much better than they had predicted. It seems like they view me as an experiment to see how a person with almost unlimited potential will perform when given all the knowledge and training they have to offer. In other words, they want to see if I can become the perfect human. I've accepted that the people in my dreams aren't me from a past life. But they're becoming a part of me and I'm not just Uriel anymore. Only after I fully integrate with their memories, I'll know who the new me is.

????'s Journal, Day 664:

Today was the day that I finally completed absorbing the memories of the other two people and to say surprised by both their lives is an understatement. To start the memories of the more normal of the two is of an ordinary person who worked as a Mechanical Laboratory Technician. The first person was intelligent and enjoyed the hobbies of being a gadget inventor, spy movie enthusiast, and finally a computer programmer (which was referred to in his memories as being a "geek").

I don't even remember the guy's name. It's like his memory got wiped out, but not completely. His memories also told me that the world I live in is like a made-up story for them. Mostly because the Nazi group called Hydra is from some comics. He was never into those stories, but he did remember people mentioning something about a popular movie series based on comic books by a company called Marvel. The comic book series was mainly focused on a universe called 616, its central universe, which is a part of a bigger multiverse with tons of heroes, villains, and supernatural beings. He kind of knew some of the famous names cause of how much they talked about them, but couldn't really recall their faces or the details of their lives as he loved spy movies way more to even care.

47's memories, on the other hand, were a lot more interesting with his memories, as I said before, being a mix of his life experiences from parallel worlds. 47, possesses a combined set of memories in which he had a genius-level intellect and had been trained in various martial arts. He can read and speak in almost all known languages, including some that were thought to be lost. In addition, he is a master assassin, spy, infiltrator, marksman, tactician, and strategist. He was also an expert detective, driver, mechanic, enologist, and chemist. Furthermore, he was skilled in painting, barbering, tattoo artistry, massage therapy, music, DJing, and cooking.

Other than 47 being the closest thing to the most knowledgeable person alive, according to the memories of the first person, 47 is also part of a fictional world. But now that I have the full memories of 47, I know that my world and that of 47, are not fictional but instead, it's just that the world of the first person is just special in that his world seems to be able to learn of other worlds outside of their reality through fiction.

In the end, it didn't matter because we merged together and became one entity. We were no longer separate people, but a single unit without any distinct identity. What mattered was that with my new knowledge and experiences, I was able to figure out how to escape from Hydra.

I have a chance to escape in a few weeks when Hydra plans to use Theadore, Rose, and me to attack the Allied forces after they arrive in Italy. From what I gathered with my new information-gathering skills, Hydra will first attack the 107th infantry regiment and a few other Allied regiments, then send us for a surprise attack the next day in the middle of the night when the Allies are down and recovering. All that is left is to wait until the time comes.

????'s Last Journal Entry, Day 699 November 4th, 1943:

Today's the last day of my journal, and Hydra made their move yesterday. It all started well; they even transferred half their forces from this base to capture the Allie soldiers left after they attacked, to another nearby fortress. But then, at night, something unexpected happened. They were attacked by none other than America's own Super Soldier. Get this the guy called himself Captain America, I couldn't help but laugh at how unimaginative his name was. Also, his name sounds familiar but I don't know from where.

Although this guy had a funny name, he was no joke. He didn't just free the Allied soldiers, he also wiped out the whole Hydra base they were trapped in. He didn't do it alone, though, he had some exhausted soldiers and leftover weapons to help him out. It's still pretty impressive if you ask me. But, as always, there were consequences. After he destroyed that base, our fortress that was nearby was put on high alert. Hydra put us in more secure rooms and was now planning to move us and all their research to a new base far away the next morning. So, tonight was my last chance to escape with Theodore and Rose. If I can't get them out, I'm focusing on my escape.

As the clock struck midnight, I decided to make my move. I cautiously approached the door and listened for any sounds coming from the other side. When I heard the soldier who was guarding the area make his regular inspection, I quickly made a loud banging noise inside my room. I then hid myself out of view by sticking to the wall just above the door. I waited patiently for the soldier to check my room through a small sliding panel on the door. When he saw that I wasn't inside, he opened the door and came in to check thoroughly.

When he was fully inside, I jumped down from the wall and snapped his neck immediately after landing behind him. I searched the person and found the set of keys that belonged to a specific section of the castle. I also took their weapons, which included an energy gun and an electric baton, just in case. After making sure no one was around, I went to the cell where Rose was being held.

"Hey Rose, you up?" I asked after I knocked on her door.

"Uriel, is that really you? How in the bloody hell did you get out? Nevermind, you can tell me later. You came to break me out, 'ight? I mean, why else would you be here? Unless you just wanted to show off your Houdini skills." She said with a British accent.

Since I've been stuck here, I've had a chance to get to know the other two people who were imprisoned alongside me. One of them is Rose, who got caught by Hydra just a week before I did. She was only 17 at the time, which was about the same age as Theodore when he was caught. When we're alone, she's pretty sassy, but when the soldiers and scientists are around, she's on her guard. I think she's a good person, but after everything that's happened to us, she doesn't really trust anyone except for Theodore and me. I guess it's just because we're all in the same crappy situation.

"Yeah, yeah, don't get your knickers in a twist" I mock her before saying, "But seriously, stand back, I'm about to open the door, and then I'll go for Theo."

"Then, what you waiting for? Hurry up, can't wait to get out of this pigsty"

Impatient as always. "There we go, opened! Now hurry up and I'll get Theo." I said. After she got out I went to Theo's cell.

Once there I knocked on his door. "Hey, Theo, I'm opening the door." After I heard him grunt in affirmation, I opened the door and invited him out.

"Come on Theo, Rose is already waiting. We have to hurry up if we want to get out of here unnoticed" I tell him as he walks out and grunts again.

Theo, or Theodore, is a cool guy who doesn't really talk much. Not 'cause he's dumb or anything, he's just not the chatty type, you get me? He just finished high school when Hydra got him, and when it comes to smarts, he's pretty average, nothing too crazy. Theo's turning 21 in January, and Rose is 20, so they're both pretty much grown-ups.

After we got to the end of the hallway we saw Rose waiting for us. "What took you? We should have been out of here minutes ago." She said and I can't say she's wrong. If we take too long we'll get caught by the next patrol.

As we made our way through the castle halls to the closest exit I memorized. we suddenly hear a loud explosion out back by where the courtyard is.

BOOOM!!

"WHAT IN THE BLAZES WAS THAT?!" Asked Rose after that, "How the hell would I know?!" Was my obvious response.

BOOOOM!! BOOOM!! BOOOOM!!

We suddenly hear three more explosions, one more from the back and two more big ones by the front gate.

"I don't know what's going on but I think we should use this time to book it towards the west wall seeing that it's the farthest wall from where the explosions are coming from and should be the least guarded one right now." I tell them as I run through the exit and they follow without a second thought.

We finally escaped from a castle and were greeted by a chaotic scene with fire everywhere. Two groups were engaged in a nonstop gunfight. Judging from their uniforms, one group was an army of Allied forces. I could easily identify who was leading them, a tall man with brown trousers and a boomer jacket. The most unusual part of his outfit was the shirt he wore under the jacket - it had what looked like the American flag pointing downwards with a big white star on his chest. He also had a blue helmet with a large letter "A" on the front.

I saw him and it just hit me - it was Captain America! I finally remembered where I'd heard of him before. He was from those Marvel comics that people keep talking about in the normal world. I kind of spaced out thinking about it, when Rose hit me on the back of the head and said, "What the hell you doin'?! We have to run, and run quick - this is our chance!"

I turned away from Captain America and looked back at Rose and Theo. "Right, let's go. follow me I know how to get to the wall the quickest. Don't bother with the battle around us and keep running no matter what."

After I said that we ran towards the west wall, plowing through anything that got in our way. While we were running, we heard a huge explosion behind us but we ignored it and kept running. When we got to the wall and were about to climb the stairs up the wall, a shield was suddenly thrown in front of us making us stop. When we turned around we saw Captain America running at us at a speed that almost matched Rose's top speed.

I knew he won't stop chasing us, so I turned to Rose and Theo and said, "He will be hard to escape from unless one of us delays him for the other two to escape."

Rose wasn't having it. "What the hell are you talking about?! let's just beat him and ..." But I didn't let her finish, "Just listen to me! We don't have time for this! Just know that he's like us and won't go down easily. He will just waste time we don't have so, I'm going to stop him while you and Theo make a run for the wall. And I won't take a no for an answer."

Right before she could say anything, I noticed Captain America was getting closer to our spot. So, I quickly grabbed the shield hanging on the wall and chucked it back at him with all my might. Then I turned to Theo and said, "Theo we don't have time so grab Rose and take her far away from here. And Rose don't argue with me, please. After you're both safe, you'll be in charge, hide until the war's over. After that, you guys do what you want, I'll find you later. NOW, MOVE!"

Rose was about to say something, but Theo interrupted her by picking her up, throwing her over his shoulder, and running up to the top of the wall. From there, he leaped towards the forest, and just before they disappeared from view, I heard Rose screaming, "You better keep your promise or I'll rip you a new one!"

As soon as they disappeared from my sight, I sensed something speeding towards me. I quickly moved to my left by ducking and rolling, and that's when I saw a shield flying over my head, hitting the wall and ricocheting back to where it came from. When I got up, I saw Captain America throwing a punch towards my face, but I was able to block it just in time.

While I was holding his hand and I tried to be sneaky and kneed him in the stomach while grabbing his shoulder. But he blocked it with his other hand. So, I decided to go for an overthrow and throw him over my shoulder. He was taken by surprise, and before he could react, he hit the ground hard. I quickly backed away from him and made some space between us to avoid any further trouble.

After he got up I asked, "What the hell is your problem?!" He responded, "I'm not letting any Hydra member get away!"

I looked at him like he was stupid, "Why would someone who can take you on equal ground, run away?!" He then in a very confident tone said, "You're not the first one to match my strength and the one I fought yesterday blew up his base to escape me."

I was really confused! At that moment, I wanted to ask the guy what he meant, but before I could say anything, he suddenly threw his shield at me again. I quickly jumped backward, did a backflip to avoid the shield, and kicked it away while I was still flipping. But before I could even land on my feet, he was already charging toward me, and I didn't have enough time to dodge his tackle.

Seeing that I couldnt avoid fighting him, while on the ground I tried to hit him in the face with my elbow only for him to block it. he threw another right punch at my face but I deflected it towards his left. I then headbutted him and threw him off and over my head, while I rolled to my left and stood back up. When he tried to get up, I kicked his head but this fucker blocked it AGAIN! He then used the momentum of my kick to roll backward and stood back up.

We then charged each other only for him to throw another straight punch and I ducked under his punch to throw my own punch at his right kidney. He bent the right in pain and I used that moment to punch him in the throat. When he tried to stand straight to breathe, I finished him off by slapping both his ears at the same time and then kneed him in the nose. Once I saw he was momentarily knocked out, I turned around to run. But then I realized that I was completely surrounded by Allied soldiers holding Thompson submachine guns and Hydra weapons, all pointed at me.

All I could say was, "Well, fuck!"

As I said before, I'll start posting twice a week from now on, on either Tuesday or Wednesday and then again on Friday or Saturday. No updates on Sunday, Monday, or Thursday.
