"They aren't touched," Shae said at last. "You can pet them if you like, though I fear you won't be able to be soul-bound with them at this moment." 

"Touched?" Ulysses picked his eyebrows. 

"You have seen the deadmen, I assume?" Shae explained. "That are very infectious, especially to wild animals. Thankfully Foil beasts are resistant to most of those types of infections." 

"Ooh," Ulysses nodded. "What off the soul-bonding part?" 

"That's a little complicated, even if you are ready to bond with those cubs," Shae said. "The best option for you now would be to awaken an ability that will let you do about the same as soul-bonding. Of course, it is rare to have awakened that ability, however, with the right origin mark and right awakening element, it's possible." 

"I guess I'll go for the class advancement first," Ulysses said. 

"You made it already?" Luke asked, raising his eyebrows. 

Ulysses nodded. "Elise made it too, I think."
