Death

In the dark forest, about 100 meters under the summit of the Green mountain, a flickering light can be seen. Covered by dense jungle, the big MPV was there unmoving, overturned with smoke coming out of it .

Inside the car, Davis was tied to the seat, the damage he took was big, but it wasn't a threat to his life since the airbag and the seat belt protected his body. The MPV did a good job taking all the damage, while the front lights were still working, everything else was not.

Davis' face was covered with small cuts, his bleeding nose seemed to be broken and parts of the broken glass had penetrated his left arm. There was a Deep wound under the left side of his chin and went down to his chest, as he was tied upside down to the seat, the blood from his wounds went to his face making his hair dyed red.

Near the car, there was a strange creature lying down there, crawling and following the smell of blood, it seems like two of his legs are broken. The creature looked like a fox, a giant one with a height of 2 meters, his red glaring eyes fixed into the car while his half opened drooling mouth had big sharp fangs.

When the beast reached the car, he started biting the door with his fangs trying to get the delicious meat inside, the gnashing sound was high enough to awake Davis from his slumber.

Memory still blurred, David tried to move his head to the source of the sound, finding the simple action very hard, he started to feel unbearable pain all over his body. Finding that something wasn't right, he tried hard to recall what happened, remembering the sudden accident, Davis began to analyse how he had ended up in this situation, he mustn't be frightened or he may die before he knew it.

He looked over the strange animal with a furrow, ' what the hell is this? How did I end up like this? this creature is huge, it's like those i saw in Youtube, this damn thing was trying to kill me? Ahh, this pain is killing me', Davis thought while trying to reach the gun that Lucas gave him. He put it under his seat, but it wasn't their since the car is now is upturned, ' it must be somewhere here' , with just a little move his body throbbed with pain, after some time he found it near the front windshield, but he can't reach it since he was tied up.Luckily, the big fox was trying to put his head from the opposite door, or he may have been in a deep shit. it seems even if the animal got bigger, his intelligence was the same.

Davis fell down after removing the belt, he felt a severe pain in his ribs ' it seems like I have some broken ribs', he gathered himself as he took the gun. With such a wounded body, he felt like the gun weighed a ton, pointing the gun with his right hand that kept shaking, for him a normal citizen the action of pointing a gun to kill is a first, but this was a life and death situation.

Davis opened his mouth, but no word came out, he had never been in a situation like this. The words seemed to be related to technologies like androids, phones and computer systems, but why could he see this in front of him?

But what does it mean by level 1 beast, levels? isn't this term related to games?' Davis' mind was full of questions, he couldn't wrap this no matter how much he thought.

While he was trying to calm his chaotic mind, bristling and hustling sounds came from the bushes, making Davis on alert, since he was in a dark environment, his only source of light being the car' front lights.

Davis, inside the car, hold his gun tightly, and laid on his stomach preparing for anything that may attack him, his wounds are throbbing, the deep wound on his neck had stopped bleeding, but the pain remain, his heart can be heard beating faster and faster, his brain is operating at the highest possible level a brain can reach and even more, unknown to him, due to pressure and stress, his body started to operate above what a human body supposed to.

No one in the whole world has come to a realisation, since animals and plants started to mutate, couldn't human beings be the same. They could, it's just since their bodybuild is different and their brain is more complexe that the mutation is a lot slower than than the rest of the species.

Under the death threat, Davis' body started to change, his heart beated stronger and faster, his wounds were healing faster than normal, his brain was undertaking a transformation, while his senses were getting sharper and he could process informations faster by 3 times. Overall, his body started functioning better and better with time passing. This started a week ago, when he did workout he didn't get tired like usual, but now facing a life and death, the process is done faster than before.

His eyesight started to get better, even though it's nighttime and the darkness covers the forest, Davis was now able to see his surroundings clearly. In the bushes nearby, he could identify some animals, ' rabbits, hmm I mean big rabbits, big squirrels, big owls,..., damn why are all of you here?' Davis cursed in his mind seeing all these beasts gathering here. ' It was because of the noise and the blood', while he was thinking, the light blue numbers in front of him came to an end.

A loud sound came from above, the sky seemed to blurr for a moment. If Davis could see the sky now, he would surely be frightened. There were two new red moons while the old white moon had suddenly disappeared, one red moon was bigger than the other. The changes were more than just this, after the world shelter was removed, the communication system stopped, no internet, no signal, even electricity and other energy systems stopped. It was a disaster, the whole world was in chaos, airplanes started to fall from the skies, traffic accidents filled the whole roads, ships stopped in the middle of the ocean, everything stopped working. Back to davis who was now pointing his gun, covered in sweat, he was observing the beasts that somehow started to act weird a moment ago, when he was told that the barrier is gone, at same time the beasts began to roar, fall and convulse on the ground, he himself started to feel dizzy, his body started to get hotter and he almost lost his consciousness.

' A cursed undead! what the hell is this?" Davis thought while breathing heavily.

Davis didn't know why, but he started to feel uneasy, an odd feeling was building inside him as he could feel the upcoming danger. Noticing that his body felt much better than before, he crawled out of the car, the beasts were still wimmping on the ground so he took this chance and opened the car boot searching for his axe.

When he found it, he started to walk to the nearby beast, he didn't understand why his instincts and mind were now telling him what to do in this clear manner, but he can be absolutely sure that something inside him was telling him to start killing the falling beasts before they woke up.

Believing in his guts, he took the axe, since using the gun when the beasts are laying on the ground like this would be waste of bullets, also the gun is louder and could attract more beasts while the remaining bullets count to 11, so using the axe was the wisest and the more effective.

' Let's start with the more dangerous ones' Davis thought as he walked to the biggest beast. It was a giant monkey the size of a gorilla or maybe even bigger, he didn't know how tall this monkey had become, but the size of it laying on its back was enough to make Davis break out in cold sweat.

When he was right next to its head, he identified the beast as a local monkey that was 1 meter tall before mutating, he took a deep breath, raised his hands, holding the axe that was 1 meter tall, above his head, then he hacked with all his power.

"PAACK"

With a loud sound, the beast neck was half severed, the fresh blood started to gush out of its neck making a gruesome scene, Davis couldn't take it and started to vomit, making the place more messy and smelly.

After a moment he could hear the robotic voice again, making Davis gather himself.

' A reward?' Davis thought, ' I don't know what it is? but i think my decision to kill this beast is right. At least I shouldn't feel sad about them since they would probably be like the damn beast that was trying to eat me' .

Then he moved to the next beast, mutated rabbits, squirrels, birds, there were dozens of them. Davis was finding it sick at first, but his survival instinct calmed down each time he killed a beast. The blue notification kept repeating, the same message was shown every time he got a kill, the only difference from the one he got when he killed the monkey, was that they were all level 1 beasts.

Suddendy, when he just swung his axe making one head roll to the side, the remaining 10 breasts started to convulse more aggressively, their body began to become bigger and bigger, Davis seeing that things are getting bad, as his new feeling and the instincts inside him kept warning.

His eyes shone with cold light, releasing killing intent that gained after the continuous slaughter, Davis ran to the nearby beasts hacking their necks with all his might, but his luck seemed to lessen because When he was about to kill the last two, they opened their eyes, fixing their brutal red pupils on Davis. With lightning speed, the two giant rabbits jumped on him, one buried his front 10 centimeters cutters on his right leg, while the other got his armed arm.

" ARGH", Davis screamed trying to shake them off but to no avail, he lost his balance and fell, the two rabbits took the opportunity to fix him on the ground and began to gnash on his flesh.

Davis' screamed and struggled with all his power, his eyes never lost their gleam as his left hand got the gun that was tied to his waist belt, two loud gunshots were heard, as he shot the rabbit that was biting his right hand in the head, then he shot the other one on his leg.

The blue notification was shown again, but Davis couldn't focus on it, the loss of blood was too much, and he started to lose consciousness. Davis started to see the faces of his parents ' I'm finally going to join you mom, dad', then Elina and Sophia ' i'm sorry Elina, Sophia'.

Feeling the sadness, aggrievedness and unwillingness inside him, Davis began to sob as screamed inside of his mind, ' I DON'T WANT TO DIE! NO, NO, NO I'M STILL YOUNG TO DIE, NO ELINA, SOPHIA HELP ME PLEASE, PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME, LUCAS, LILY, JASON,MARRY, PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME, PLEASE, AHH'.

People often see the faces of their loved ones before dying, having regrets and maybe satisfied with how they lived their life. Feeling the clutch of deach, someone young that has never faced death would of course lose his cool and have a mental breakdown.

Despite that, Davis' eyes that were full of tears suddenly turned sharp and calm, his brain and heart have experienced an enormous transformation, his soul seemed to become stranger. No longer afraid of death, Davis found it hard to believe, but was now watching the sky with a calm gaze. Laying there covered in blood, the only thing that was on his mind was how to survive and live, unfazed with the notifications that attacked him again after he made a mental breakthrough.

But to no avail, a strong will and mind cannot save his life, his eyes began to lose focus, his breath lessened and his heartbeats slowed down. The last thing his eyes focused on was a row of decreasing blue numbers.
