Genius

Kai found Paige in her new office seemingly working on her computer when she saw Kai her eyes lit up and she stood up. "Master." She greeted lightly.

"I have come to say my good bye. The children have been coming in throughout the week I am confident you can handle the subsequent tasks. How is the results of your initial cleansing?" Kai had given Paige several bone marrow washing pills and other medications that will be hard to use but will allow her to become strong now that she has awakened her power of darkness.

She just needs to increase the level and visit the training grounds often. Kai is lost in his thoughts when the look in Paige's eyes turned gloomy and her entire being became sad.

"You are leaving. Again." She said with a sad tone. All this time she has had him on her mind wishing to see him and maybe she can have the courage to face him with her truth.

"What's wrong?" Kai can feel the situation is a bit wrong.

"I was going to wait for a perfect moment to tell you something but it is not an easy thing to say." She avoided his eyes feeling helpless and a bit unreconciled.

Kai took a seat opposite her own and told her to seat. "I can listen." He said.

"I am in love with you." After a while she finally managed to say with a strong voice.

"Huh?" Kai is taken aback by this statement.

"I have been living with these feelings, dying inside knowing that you have never shown me anything to assume you would feel the same. But I want you to know even if you don't feel the same, you I want you to know that I have deep feelings for you. Kai. Say something...please." By the end she sounds vulnerable.

"Paige..." Kai looked at her sadly. "I am sorry." He said not knowing what else to say at this time.

"Don't misunderstand me Kai, I am not telling you this so that you can return my feelings, I am telling you so that it is out there and I will have nothing to regret in the future. I want you to know that I feel this way for you but I don't expect you to feel the same way for me. I will move on ....somehow." She gave him a kind smile.

"If you regret letting me put my seal on you then..." He didn't finish.

"I don't regret that. I will be your servant wholeheartedly from from the moment you hired me Kai. You have nothing to worry about. And if I learned anything from my dad it is that love can also die out if we let it." She wiped a few tears and then looked at Kai with her usual gaze. She seems to be mentally cheering herself to be strong. Kai acknowledged that some distance may aid in her process of moving on.

"Alright. I have a direct line for my people so if you are not able to get me on the phone just leave a message but I left everything that I thought you might require in the storages. Good luck Paige." Kai said with a smile and then decided to leave. He has one of the few keys that can open the barrier gate.

He built a gate and put a few guards to monitor those coming in and out of the school. After inserting the card in the key holder that looks like a round stone with a small space to insert a card into, he came out of the school and made his way outside the territory into the main gate.

Even as he walked out, many children some wearing tethered clothes that couldn't possibly prevent the cold from ravaging them entered being escorted towards the orphanage.

Kai is a ware that some of these children are spies sent by the ambitious groups outside but he gave his servant all the necessary tools to take care of any hidden danger.

Kai walked out wearing the red bolt uniform which made people give him way. Some are in awe of the red bolt while some are disgusted by their unusual taste for massacre. Kai doesn't care for any of these.

The snow is not as heavy as when he had gone into seclusion. This is why Kai is confident the school will be built in record time especially since he improved the energy system of the robots.

Kai rode June towards the destination but somewhere along the way the snow in the atmosphere is much colder than the one lower, June lost functions and fell. Kai had to put it back into space and then used his lightning body to ran as soon as his body hit the ground so he can cushion the fall.

A lightning bold figurine ran a large distance until he smashed against a wall making a large hole. Screams erupted from all directions as Kai stood up from a small crater of floor tiles and wall stones.

He is about to say something when he fainted.

"The fuck!. Who is this guy?"

"Someone crazy apparently." A female voice said.

"Crazy strong, look he is still alive after smashing down that thick concrete wall." The boss said looking at the person emitting smoke on the ground.

"Try to save him." The boss said, as soon as he saw the red bolt on the side of his uniform.

"Brother Ye, do you think that is wise? We don't know if he was beaten or scratched by zombies." The woman from before protested. She is Zoey who grew up as a play mate with Jiang Ye and is therefore always the first to challenge him.

Jiang Ye looked at her coolly making her shut her mouth. "We will go back to our rooms, someone close that opening. Only Stan and Mo will take care of the wounded. If you find any suspicious wounds leave him in the room after locking it." Jiang Ye said with a frown.

The two lifted the injured Kai up and took him to the second floor. This is a motel that they have been staying in for the past 18 hours for a rest since they have someone wounded who was previously injured in a fight with a group of zombies.

Jiang Ye is a powerful commander in an army. He was assigned go and rescue a scientist from a fallen base a few hundred miles from this location. The base is not completely fallen but is well on the way. His team mates were ordered to remain in the main base to guard their army by him because he smelled foul play in this mission.

His base is in the far north of the country where the snow is at its peak during such seasons and they have traveled for a good three weeks, now they have to take care of their injured team mate. Which makes this mission that much harder.

Zoey is an extra in this mission she volunteered to come with her brother Ye so she can take of him upon seeing that he had left most of his people and only took four of his men. Two for medical practice and two for combat support. One is now almost knocking on death's door.

This team has people who were invited to join by Jiang Ye using an advert which promised to compensate them handsomely upon return. The reward was too much to pass so many people joined but more than half of them are already dead.

Now the team has 12 people including Jiang Ye. "Wei Mo, what was your diagnosis?" Jiang Ye looked at his close friend.

"As we carried him up stairs his body kept discharging electric current which seemed to be increasing in power the more we walked."

"His entire body has been ravaged by lightning. Most of his organs are burned but the peculiar thing is that they are rapidly recovering. It is a medical miracle." Wei Mo said but his face doesn't show any excitement.

The people in the room are used to his cold demeanor. "Was he in a fight?"

"The burns are coming from within the uniform. As if he was extricating lightning and ended up burning himself." Stan added.

"Could it be he was trying to breakthrough but had a backlash?"

"If that is the case then he is more of a hindrance to us. Clearly he is an idiot." Wei Mo said.

It has been a night and a few hours after Kai came crashing through a wall. He has been treated with clean water and had his wounds bandaged even as they healed and now the team is having breakfast separately as people have limited supplies.

This place is a good distance from the city and is surrounded by trees. The lack of zombies is because the group cleaned the area thoroughly before settling down for a rest.

"I still think it is best we leave him to fend for himself." Zoey said from the side but Jiang Ye didn't acknowledge her comments. The reason is simple, she is the reason one of his brothers in fighting for his life at the moment.

When a group of zombies surrounded the team, she subtly led some to his teammates and even pretended to trip on a log so she could push him to the zombies. This woman is clearly poisonous and was probably sent here by the same people who are trying to kill him.

He doesn't know if he is being overly suspicious but he saw her actions with his own eyes. The frustrating thing is that he is second guessing himself because she is the woman whom he has known from childhood. This is probably why she was picked to eliminate him and his team, because he will waste precious time being indecisive and then she will kill him.

He is disgusted by their proximity and wants to shoot this woman but there are too many witnesses at this moment. He looked at Wei Mo. "Find a way to save him."

"Commander, do you know this man?" Stan asked feeling like they shouldn't waste resources on dead weight.

"Not him. His company." He pointed at the red bold symbol on the discarded uniform.

"I will do whatever I can but his body is already working extra time mending itself together." Wei Mo said in response.

"Good." Jiang Ye said but a loud boom sound same from upstairs. They all ran to see what happened and found Kai seated on the ground, the bed he had been sleeping on incinerated by his lightning.

Kai looked at his body, he then started peeling off the bandages that were wrapped around him. Everyone saw that his skin is flawless without even a scar from where he had been hurt last night. The rest of his body is covered in ash though.

Kai looked at the people watching him with different expressions. "He looks confused" Stan said to Jiang Ye who immediately took a step toward Kai. He wants to ensure that his thoughts were correct and this is indeed that man.

But Kai panicked and lightning started burning the small area around himself. Jiang Ye stopped and tried talking.

"What's your name?"

"Kai." Kai seemed surprised by what he just said. He tried to recall more information about himself but he couldn't remember. "I don't know anything else." Kai looked at the man with a puzzled expression. "Do you know who I am?"

"What is the last thing you remember?" Jiang Ye asked gently so he doesn't startle him again.

"I remember falling and then a burning sensation all over my body but I couldn't stop running." Kai said when Zoe asked something else.

"Are you not cold?" She looked at him with curiosity.

"I don't think so." Kai responded after a moment of silence.

"Can you control your power?" Stan asked when he came back with clothes. He doesn't want to give up the clothes only for Kai to incinerate them with his lightning.

Kai took the clothes and thanked him. He had been seated because he is naked and there are many people in the room.

Jiang Ye led them outside so Kai can get dressed. When Kai came out he stood almost as tall at Jiang Ye. If he had his memories he would know that he has gained a few inches in height.

"Thank you for bandaging my wounds and helping me." Kai bowed in thanks. His demeanor is strange. The people saw this and felt like he is a proud lion trying to lower its head.

Kai is now 1.89 centimeters which is several inches taller than last time. His stomach growled and he looked at it feeling hungry. He understands that he can not be shameless and eat these people's food.

He took confident steps outside but is stopped by Jiang Ye who had a rare worried look on his face. "Did you really lose your memories?" He looked at him in the eyes to discern if he lied.

"Yeah." Kai looked at the hand on his arm not knowing how to deal with it.

"What if I told you that I know who you are. Will you stay?"

"No, I am hungry."

"I have food." Jiang Ye countered.

"I will stay." He removed the hand on his arm. Jiang Ye saw the displeased looks from his team but ignored it and gave his portion of breakfast to Kai who ate with a scrawl.

"What is the matter?" Jiang Ye asked with an amused smile.

"I don't know." Kai answered and quickly finished his food and then looked at the man. "I want to see the hole you said I made on the wall. Maybe if I retrace my steps I can know what happened." Kai suggested.

"I'll take you to it."

"I feel suspicion because of your unexplained kindness to me, stranger." Kai said looking at the man.

"My name is Jiang Ye. You and I have never met in person but we spoke online. I hacked your system and we exchanged items." He walked out coming back with a scorched smart bracelet.

"This was in your arm although it is burnt it belongs to you." He raised his arm and showed the same bracelet.

"You sold it to me with three more at a very high price."

"So I am a salesman." Kai said.

"No, you made these yourself. You are a genius, Kai. This item can still work even though it is now the apocalypse and cellphone towers have long stopped working." Jiang Ye said in one breath.
