A storm in science

Justine Payne is a professor in the university of Beijing which one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world today. The improvement in technology had somewhat stabilized the cultural diversity in the different countries around the world.

Even the once closed off countries that were known for extreme xenophobic tendencies are now welcoming foreign talents and as a result, English has become an integral part of development for any country.

Citizenship is not hard to obtain if you're a talent no matter which part of the world you want to live in. Even the following descendants will not be discriminated against because their ancestors contributed to that country somehow.

As a result, many foreign surnames are found throughout the world and even the traditional leaders have understood that it is a necessary evil. Otherwise their country will be left in the dust while others are developing in science, technology and other aspects.

Justine has published many papers but not many of them have ever been selected for a Nobel price because they all think he thinks too beautifully and his ideas are extremely hard for the math department to come up with precise calculations for.

As a result his prestige is now very pitiable compared to his colleagues. He has accepted that he may be ahead of the times in his ideas and that the math departments are just not caught up with him.

That is what he uses to motivate himself every morning before he can go out and face the ridicule and distaste from his colleagues.

It works for a few hours but he still drinks at night. Today is a weekend so he did not bother to go out but after eating breakfast he noticed an unread email.

He thought maybe it is his colleagues again trying to make his weekends as awful as how they make his week days. He thought saw when he saw it is from an unknown person with such a ridiculous handle. Fat brain.

Laughing at the stupid name he thought "He can't make me angry with such a stupid name." After clicking he saw the most shocking thing on the screen.

He blinked thinking that maybe he is seeing things. Reading further, he realized he is not dreaming.

It is a detailed and beautiful diagram, he wanted to reach out in the screen and touch it. In fact he couldn't wait to respond and ask for a meeting but he found that the email handle is set as non reply setting.

Sad, he sat down and continued to read the email and the exquisite calculations in the paper. He is 42 years old but he has never felt so much joy. He cried. Wept and hugged his computer thanking the heavens, thanking the gods and thanking Fat Brain.

For the first time in a long time he cleaned his house, threw away trash that has been laying around for at least a week and gave himself a nice shave. He looked at the handsome man in the mirror and tried to smile. It has been so long that his face is stiff like a piece of wood.

He was just about to find the list of investors when a delivery man came with a small box. After signing for the delivery, he opened it and he couldn't believe his eyes. The exact copy of the item in the diagram is in front of him and is functional.

The tears came again, this time he even had snot on his face hugging the miracle in his hands. A while later a phone call rang.

"Mr. Justine Payne. My name is Wang Yan. Can I interest you in a meeting about your research on high functioning battery? The Wang family is ready to cooperate with you."

The man on the other side of the phone became dumbfounded. He had a feeling that he can not refuse these people. However, contrary to his expectations, the Wang family was very generous. A week later he had a team working on the first model.

The work did not require much as if Fat brain had already done all the trial and error. The process became so fast that he didn't feel deserving. In the future when he accepts a Nobel prize he explicitly said that he only came up with a theory that everyone mocked and ridiculed for half a decade with no one able to come up with correct calculations.

He said Fat brain is the name. That is his benefactor and hopes to meet this person before he dies.

In the present. A storm shook the world. The Wang family became the giants that can provide infinite energy without paying too much for it. Mr. Justine Payne became a household name that all scientists respected and his sad days became a thing of the past.

Everyone is happy but the Wang father and son are not happy. The team was only able to make a battery that can be used for 3 to 5 months. They would have rejoiced if they didn't see one that will work for 30 years.

A team of the world's top scientists couldn't come up with a single battery that can be used in one year without it exploding and burning the entire office to smithereens.

They have come to realize that the son they were most ashamed of is a genius among geniuses. But they are surprised why he hasn't talked to them. They have thought about withholding the allowance but they realized that the items in his possession can be sold in millions of us dollars.

Father Wang even decided to generously increase the young man's allowance so he can use it to make them rich in return through his research.

Meanwhile in the villa, Kai is pretending to be making a speech in the graduation ceremony. He put on a large curtain and a funny hat on his head and wrote on the screen.

"School is for bitches and we don't negotiate with terrorists. Thank you." He bowed.

Later that week when the duo saw him put on the funny outfit they were looking forward to his acceptance speech but the words made them speechless.

Then, there is the electronic butler that has been upgraded. "Sir let me just say, that was a wonderful speech. It made no sense at all...you mean to confuse the audience? Or insult the institution itself? Because if that is the case, you did a great job. Sir."

"Thank you butler."

"You're welcome Sir."
