Chapter 98: The Old Hag
Wu Heng glanced at the nun's attire and asked, "Just passing by, which great deity's temple is this?"
Considering he could travel between two worlds and had professions related to deities,
he couldn't help but believe in matters concerning gods.
It wasn't about fear, but it was important to show some respect at the temple's entrance.
"It's the temple of the great Goddess of Fertility."
"Oh, the great Goddess of Fertility," Wu Heng repeated.
"Sir, aren't you here to pray?" the nun asked curiously.
"Uh, just passing by, I'd like to borrow the woodshed for a bit."
The nun smiled sweetly, making a prayer gesture with her hands on her chest, stepping forward with her left leg slightly, revealing a large expanse of her white thigh up to her thigh root through the slit of her skirt.
"I can arrange a room for you, sir; there's no need to go to the woodshed. We have others here, so you needn't worry," the nun said as she fully opened the door.
Another figure, a tall and strong man, emerged from inside, holding a petite, curvaceous nun by his side.
The petite nun was dressed even more provocatively.
The only thing she wore modestly was the scarf on her head.
The man walked out, his legs trembling slightly, and said, "You gentlemen must be from the Kingdom of Yeco as well. We're a caravan from the kingdom, so relax a bit before continuing on."
A caravan?
Relaxing here?
"Are you alone?" Wu Heng asked him.
The man smiled and continued, "The others are receiving attention from other nuns. You should come in and rest as well, and we can travel together afterward."
After saying that, the man, still holding the nun, headed back inside.
The nun clung tightly to the man, her robes fluttering behind her.
"Sir, come in, and leave after you've relaxed," the nun who had greeted Wu Heng swayed her hips and walked over.
Wu Heng's gaze fell on her once again.
He opened his gun holster and pulled out a pistol, saying, "Alright, let me show you my treasure."
The nun shyly stepped forward, "Sir, why don't we discuss it inside the temple? I feel a bit nervous out here."
"It's this, don't move!"
Wu Heng pointed the pistol at her face, catching her confused expression.
As she moved to stick out her tongue to lick it,
he pulled the trigger.
Bang~!
The gunshot rang out, and the bullet instantly pierced through her head.
The nun's eyes showed surprise and disbelief.
Her body jerked back, falling to the ground.
In the next second, the nun's corpse rapidly changed.
Her skin and face shriveled, her long hair became sparse and broken, and her skin, now covered in age spots, grew moles and warts.
If she had been a voluptuous and seductive nun before, now she was an ugly and eerie old hag.
The gunshot also drew the attention of others inside the temple.
Four nuns, including the petite nun from earlier, quickly ran to the entrance.
Seeing the corpse lying on the ground, they let out ear-piercing screams.
They roared, "Damn human brat, how dare you cause trouble here! Kill you…"
The nuns' voices became shrill, and under his gaze, they all transformed into hunched old hags.
Their skin looked like tree bark, and their sparse long hair flew wildly.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh~!
The old hags extended their hands, fingers with long, sharp nails,
and fired 'Magic Missiles' and 'Weakening Rays.'
Wu Heng and Barson quickly ducked behind the carriage.
Boom~!
A massive explosion erupted, shattering the carriage to pieces.
Splinters flew like bullets, the horses panicked, neighed, and bolted with the wrecked carriage.
Wu Heng raised his hand and tossed out a [Fireball], throwing it directly at them.
Bang~!
The fireball exploded instantly, scattering flames that ignited the ground.
Although it didn't hit its target, it separated the four old hags.
The scorching flames burned around them.
Wu Heng seized the opportunity and quickly ran toward the woodshed.
"He's a mage, kill him first! No, don't kill him, capture him alive…"
"His skin is so fair; I want to wear it."
"No, I'll wear it."
The old hags screeched, their sharp voices unceasing.
Then they charged at him from different directions.
Wu Heng squinted his eyes.
He calculated their positions and activated [Cursed Blast].
Boom~!
The first corpse exploded suddenly, and thick yellow smoke engulfed the entire area.
"Rush in and kill him quickly!" the old hags continued to shout.
Wu Heng glanced up and said, "Barson, hold them off."
After firing two more shots, Barson charged into the smoke.
Immediately followed by sharp curses and screams.
"Don't get tangled up with him; go kill the one inside."
"Stupid mage, sending his servant out alone! Don't let him escape, rush him!"
"Don't damage his skin."
The old hags kept talking.
Then two figures, with clawed arms, hunched over like gorillas, charged through the smoke.
But before they could break through the smoke,
several figures charged out to meet them.
The old hags were knocked to the ground, and swords, fists, and feet rained down on them.
Bang, bang, bang!
The intense battle sounds mixed with the old hags' screams echoed through the smoke.

[Summon - Skeleton Monk, experience gained +2]
[Experience gained…]
The notifications rang out as the area gradually fell silent.
The skeletons returned.
Wu Heng left Bagdong, Sword One, and Sword Two behind, while the other skeletons dragged the four other corpses back through the gate.
Sword One, Sword Two, and Bagdong were dressed up.
They wore heavy clothing and helmets on their heads.
You never know what might happen in the wild.
But bringing them along would avoid a lot of trouble.
...…
The smoke gradually dissipated.
Only the old hag's corpse remained on the ground after the Cursed Blast.
At the doorway, the strong man who had been with the nun earlier stumbled out, holding his head.
"What happened?"
He frowned, looking at Wu Heng and the four heavily covered figures behind him.
Then he saw the corpse on the ground.
His face instantly turned grim.
"A hag!"
Wu Heng looked at him and asked, "You know what that thing is?"
"A hag, an ugly and wicked monster."
"And you… you're into that?"
The man's face darkened further. Then, as if realizing something, he rushed back into the temple.
Wu Heng didn't follow him in but stood at the entrance watching.
Inside the temple, it was empty; there wasn't even a statue.
On the old, worn-out seats, a few men lay there.
They were naked, their skin shriveled as if all their blood and essence had been drained.
The once-robust man now sat slumped to the side, full of regret.
"How are they?"
"All dead."
