Kurosaki Ichigo was a high school student. He was below average in the class, but he's one the tallest, nearly 1.75 meters.

The first lesson had begun, but Ichigo and his friend, Komuro Takashi, decided to ditch the class and hang out on the school's emergency stairs.

"You alright?" Ichigo said as he leaned his back on the rail.

"..." Takashi didn't say anything, he merely declined his head.

You see, Takashi had a childhood friend, Miyamoto Rei, whom he had grown very close with, the school had even thought they were a couple.

But yesterday, his childhood friend accepted another boy's confession, suddenly debunking the entire rumor.

Although Takashi and Rei never confirmed the status of their relationship, Ichigo knew how much Takashi loved Rei, to be honest, both of them weren't bad; Takashi was handsome, and Rei was gorgeous, and their rumored relationship was well-deserved.

"It's okay..." Takashi whispered, "she can date whoever she wants."

Ichigo rubbed the back of his head, and said, "I don't know man, I mean, maybe if you confront her, she'll explain it to you."

"What's the point? Do you think she'll just change her mind and dump Hisashi? As good as it sounds like, it's unlikely to happen."

Igou Hisashi was their classmate, he was the representative of the karate club, making him quite popular among the girls.

"Just think about it a second, maybe everything is not what it looks like," Ichigo knitted his eyebrows, "your girlfriend is a straight A student, but why does she repeat a year? Did she not tell you anything?"

"I did ask her, she just cuss at me..." Takashi shook his head.

"I'm telling you, something is not right, I can feel it with my guts..."

"That just means you're hungry."

"Or... that too..."

"Hey, you two!"

All of a sudden, there was an annoying voice mixed with their voice, Ichigo couldn't resist the urge to roll his eyes. From the building's door, there was a girl with pink hair, her name was Takagi Saya.

"Takagi..." Takashi gave a deadpanned response.

"Really idiots, you two keep cutting classes like this, the school will kick you out soon enough!" Saya chirped.

"Thank God you have reminded us! Oh, I can feel the spirit in me!" Ichigo sneered. Drawing Saya's glare at him.

"You are a smart kid, Komuro, don't hang out with brain-dead people."

"Braindead?! You little!" Ichigo's tick mark popped on his vein.

"Need I remind you? It's a miracle you two are merely being held back a year, in other cases, those who failed the exam would have been expelled."

Ichigo grit his teeth, he couldn't deny it, it's indeed a miracle.

Takashi stared at Saya, and said, "What about you? What are you doing skipping a class?"

"Uh, excuse me, in case you forget, I'm part of the student council, we are allowed not to attend classes for important reasons," Saya deadpanned, said, "besides, I'm not skipping, I'm just attending late."

"Teacher's pet dog," Ichigo snorted, earning a slight twitch on Saya's eyebrow.

"Damn, I hate stupid people, especially someone who doesn't know he's stupid..." she mumbled.

"What did you say?" Ichigo walked to her.

"I say you're stupid, are you deaf too now?"

"You..."

Takashi sighed, he quickly stepped between the two, and said, "Okay you two, keep going like this, you'll end up liking each other."

"The hell I would!" Ichigo and Saya shouted.

"Anyway, what I'm trying to say is..." Saya huffed, but as she noticed Takashi no longer had an interest to talk with her. She grew even more irritated.

"Leave us alone, this is boy's time," Ichigo waved his hand toward Saya.

"Tch, so stupid, all just because a girl dumped him..." Saya snorted, then she turned out and left.

"Don't bother her yapping, what does a teacher's pet know?" Ichigo shrugged.

"No, she's right... this is stupid..." Takashi scratched his head, "man, what the hell happened to me?"

Ichigo couldn't find a word to comfort his friend, after all, he didn't have any experience regarding this matter himself, however, he knew he could distract his friend's thoughts.

"By the way, do you notice there was a lot of ambulances lately? Like... there was one for every couple of minutes," Ichigo said.

"Yeah, what's up with that?"

"Maybe there is new sickness?"

"Probably, pop doesn't come home last night, that should tell something..."

"Right..." Ichigo sighed.

Takashi's father was a doctor, he usually didn't come home whenever there was urgency at the hospital. So different from his father, a drunkard who benched every night on the sofa while drinking beer and watching stupid gossip shows.

"Maybe the world is ending?" Takashi flashed a grin.

"Okay, just because your world is ending, doesn't mean mine too."

"The hell?! I thought you were my best friend!"

"Yeah... I thought you're too, and a best friend doesn't drag others to hell!"

"What a wuss!" Takashi mocked Ichigo with his eyes, drawing a glare from the latter before both of them burst into laughter.

After a while, the sound of the first session about to end, the two boys decided to return.

At this moment, they heard strange noises coming from the school's gate. There was a man banging himself on it.

"Who's that?" Takashi said.

"Looks like my father," Ichigo said.

Four people came out to greet the man, they were all teachers.

"Excuse me, what do you think you're doing?" a beautiful teacher in her thirties said.

But the man didn't respond to her, he kept banging on the school's gate.

"Now, now, Hayashi-sensei, let me handle this," a male teacher with a big posture walked ahead. He approached the man and grabbed his shirt, slamming him against the gate.

"You like it so much, right? Here, let me help you!"

"Tejima-sensei! You don't have to use violence!" Hayashi-sensei said, but she didn't appear to be concerned.

"It's okay, sometimes it takes a little violence to solve a problem, isn't that right, my drunken friend?" Tejima-sensei grinned while looking back at the three teachers.

At this moment, the man grabbed his arm and bit away a small chunk of its meat, bursting out a considerable amount of blood.

"Aaah!!!" he screamed as he retreated from the gate, his eyes widened in horror. Hayashi-sensei and the others became panicked, they approached him, who was now struggling on the ground.

"What should we do?!"

"Call Nurse Marikawa!"

Tejima-sensei became peaceful, he no longer screamed or struggled. However, Hayashi-sensei who was kneeling beside his body could still hear his voice.

"Tejima-sensei, are you okay? Wait for a while, we'll take you to-" before she could finish her words. Tejima-sensei reached out to her and bit her neck, spurting a lot of blood.

The two teachers were shocked, they could only watch helplessly as the beautiful teacher struggled to get away while her neck was mangled by their colleague.

"H-help... me..." Hayashi-sensei said in tearful eyes, but her plead only chased the men away, running in fear.

Ichigo and Takashi held their breath, for a while they were rubbing their eyes.

"Is this for real?" Takashi mumbled.

"We... we gotta warn everyone..." Ichigo said.

Takashi's breath became rapid, he only muttered a word before dashing toward the building, leaving behind Ichigo.

"Dude, for real?! Is your girlfriend the only thing in your mind?!" Ichigo complained as he run after him.
