Spewing out burnt food

The battlefield was riddled with tremors as Donnes and the fiend were fighting, Donnes strikes were heavy it carried enough force to pulverize a building, but he had to hold back his punches or Kei and Ayumi might get hurt, so he went on the defensive using his shield to block the charging abomination in its path, trying to stall it

Ron and Filas were also fighting the fiend head on, they were far weaker than Donnes but were holding their weight.

But the fiend's carapace were too thick for them to pierce, the centipede-worm used its wriggling body to lash out at them trying to overwhelm the two with its size, despite how big the abomination was its countless mix of protruding arms and tentacles allowed it to move at stunning speed.

Meanwhile Gord was shooting arrow after arrow at the fiend, his arrows weren't strong enough to pierce the bone carapace of the fiend but he wasn't trying to do that, he was aiming at the gaps in its carapace scale to make the arrow stuck inside, and making them heavier, to slow down the abomination

It was easier said than done as the fiend was fast and trying to stick the arrows between the carapace scales seemed almost impossible, but Gord was a pro hunter, being able to hit impossible targets were not so impossible for pro hunters, just difficult, he did lodge many arrows in the carapace of the fiend but it barely had any effect, even so every bit counted.

As Donnes, Ron, Filas engaged the fiend, Ella stepped back, focusing on her mana and started to chant a spell.

Ella belonged to a group of people that pursued knowledge about mana and its origin, they found out that there were multiple different worlds out there, they got glimpses in these worlds by the items and descriptions the system gave them after slaying abominations.

They found out that people in those worlds can manipulate mana to augment their bodies and conjure it into the physical realm via spells, people who awakened abilities related to elements- fire, water, earth, air, and more were uniquely suited for that, thus they were called sorcerers.

The greatest sorcerers compiled the knowledge gained and made rudimentary spells mimicking those of what the otherworldly people might have used and made books containing these spells.

One such book was with Ella, holding it with one hand ella raised the other and chanted

"Ember of the dying world, embracing death

rising above from your ashes to shine a new hope

I call forth thee"

[Summon Rising Phoenix] 

A swirling vortex of fire gathers above her. From this whirlwind, a magnificent fire bird emerges, it was shimmering with hues of orange, red, and gold.

The bird was majestic, it was entirely made up of flames from beak to tail, it emanated an warm and comforting aura around it

The summoned creature wasn't very huge being a little bigger than Donnes but was stronger than most Initiates only falling short to Sentinels, in Creature class it would be a high rank Monster.

Maybe if a Sentinel or Guardian used summon it would've been stronger but for now it was enough.

The fire bird attacked the fiend using its body to tackle the worm-centipede abomination, which the fiend didn't like very much.

With Donnes and Ellas Phoenix taking charge they were able to suppres it for a while, but it didn't mean they were winning Donnes was not fighting with his full potential being on the defensive.

As they were fighting, the abomination took a steep turn slapping Ron, Filas and Donnes with its lower half, and started to rise up.

"Ron, Filas" Hilda cried as they were thrown back, she was already on the move to heal them,

Donnes blocked it with his kite shield he was thrown back, he landed on his feet and slid back a few meters.

"What's it doing now" Donnes said as he watched the fiend, rise in the air and point its maw towards them

It looked like it was trying to spew something out of its mouth, but before that happened a loud explosion was heard, it seemed like it came from inside the abomination.

The fiend convulsed as it spewed out Kei and Ayumi, following them was a torrent of fire and acid that erupted from its mouth.

Kei was holding Ayumi, he had protected Ayumi by shielding her from the explosion having thrown himself in front of her, Kei's back was charred most of his clothes burned, the leather vest he was wearing disintegrated and turned to ash, Ayumi was doing much better thanks to Kei but she was still hurt, nevertheless they made it out, from the creatures inside.

'I can't believe that worked' Kei thought as cold wind caressed his cheek, his back was in a world of pain, his whole body was, despite that he felt a flicker of relief 

'Ah it hurts.... but least Ayumi seems to be okay' he mused as he slowly began to lose consciousness.

Just then, Donnes appeared and caught the two young hunters, speaking softly, "You did well, kids. Leave the rest to me." He handed them over to the healer, Hilda.

Now, he was ready to unleash his full strength.
