If anything can go wrong, it will go wrong

After having a nice dinner everyone went to sleep, they needed to conserve their energy for tomorrow, the girls and boys had their separate tents. 

Kei was laying down in his sleeping bag, holding his pendant, lucky charm on his hands staring into the ceiling of the tent, he couldn't sleep.

'It just feels so fast, just three months ago, I found out, I could use the system and now I'm here, I even killed a monster'

Kei touched his forehead where he received a cut almost ending his life if not for Ayumi, the cut was already healed thanks to Hilda but the sensation of it was still fresh in his mind.

In truth the encounter with the Aberrant stalker has rattled him to his core even if he didn't show it on the outside, he was fairly optimistic about becoming a hunter and living a lavish life, but wasn't sure anymore.

'I almost died back then, huh'

'No no, I killed it, why am I getting scared now'

'Well, anyway I'll find out tomorrow if I'm really fit for this life or not'

Eventually Kei fell asleep but he couldn't shake the feeling that something bad was bound to happen, maybe he was just being paranoid but he didn't knew

The next morning was spent preparing for the incoming attack, barricades were set plans were made and everyone prepared themselves mentally they summoned their weapons and armour, The tide of creatures would be arriving anytime now, everyone was in their position Donnes, Ron and Filas took the vanguard, Gord, Ella ,Hilda and Gord in the rear with Kei, Chrome, Yuna and Ayumi ready to support them from behind.

Filas had the ability to make his weapons incredibly sharp, meanwhile Ron could augment his and his party with a strength boost, Gord could increase the weight of anything he touches, Ella could conjure fire and used her grimoire as a catalyst, Hilda could heal her allies with her needles but not during battle as the pain would get in the way so she had summoned her staff to use it for healing instead, the staff could store the healing property of her needles and dispersed it as needed, but was not as efficient.

A few minutes later, the party could see small silhouettes moving in the horizon, the creatures were coming, first they could see vague shapes moving towards the but it slowly grew clearer.

The creatures were covered in moss, their bodies were contorted in a twisted mesh of flesh they had six insect like legs protruding from the belly they were around half a meter tall and three to four meters wide, they had two large mandibles growing from the face, the face itself resembled the may of an oversized insect, it was not pleasant to look at to say the least.

The creatures were led by a Fiend, it didn't show itself yet maybe it was hiding or at the very back of the horde but it was approaching, Kei could tell by the slowly growing pressure he was feeling, something big and scary was coming their way.

If there was any saving grace it was that the majority of creatures were of beast class with bigger monster class variants in the mix, the horde itself wasn't very huge, it seems that there wasn't enough food for them to sustain large numbers of creatures, but there was food in front of them on the form of delicious humans, so the creatures came with mad hunger in their eyes.

The creatures were within range now, Ron used his augment ability to strengthen the party, Gord summoned, shot several arrows at the arriving creatures, Ella meanwhile conjured up a wall of flames on both sides of the party to try to funnel the creatures directly at the front and not give them any opportunity to flank the party.

Kei, Ayumi, Yuna and Chrome summoned their weapons, if any creatures slip through the party they were to deal with them.

Finally the creatures arrived, the tide of beasts were first, ramming the melee of the party, the beasts were getting massacred by Donnes, Ron and Filas, it was easy for them to deal with the lower class creatures, Hilda was busy locating the location of the monster class creatures and relaying that info, which wasn't hard to do the monsters were almost twice as big as the beasts, Filas and Ron were sent inside the tide of beast where they cut their way to the monsters their task was to slow them down or outright kill them while, Ella, Gord and Donnes wiped out the majority of beasts.

The beasts would attack by ramming themselves at the enemy, while trying to cut of the humans flesh with their sharp mandibles, whenever the party received any injuries Hilda would shot a beam of green energy from the staff at the members, healing them enough to continue battling.

The tide of creatures were thoroughly contained by the wall of fire and the party dealing with them swiftly but some beasts ignored the the immolating fire to try and flank the party, there were two that were closing in from the side, one of them was immediately intercepted by Yuna, she brandished her claymore at the approaching beast, it looked too big and heavy to be used by her but she was swinging it around easily as if it was made of paper, Ayumi followed up with a few arrows, it wasn't fatal but it slowed it down

Hilda's voice resounded "Stop them, don't let them flank us, this is your time to shine kiddos"

Chrome took the charge first and met the creature with his buckler, some of the attacks slipped through but his chainmail held up, not injuring him.

Kei meanwhile was observing the situation he was looking around frantically, seemingly trying to look for something, the cause of his behavior was the lucky charm.

'why now? what's coming? another invisible creature? I can't see anything, damn it'

Right as he was pondering trying to figure out where a surprise attack might come from Ayumi suddenly shouted,

"Below Us" and as soon as she shouted that the ground beneath them started to shake violently'

In one moment he saw giant teeth coming out from the ground and in the next moment everything was pitch black.
