Waldo looked back and saw Alanna following him about thirty to forty meters away.

He lowered his gun and walked back towards her. Alanna noticed that Waldo had spotted her and began walking back as well.

Waldo couldn't understand what she wanted, but he let her follow him. They continued walking together like this for a while.

When it was time for a midday rest and resupply, Waldo heard Alanna screaming from behind. He quickly rushed back to her. Alanna had been following for a while, and her feet were starting to ache.

However, if she stopped, she would quickly fall behind, so she reluctantly kept up the pace.

After finally sitting down to rest, Alanna also managed to find a spot to sit. But as soon as she sat down, she noticed a staggering zombie approaching.

Alanna had to run forward and ended up colliding with Waldo, who had rushed over. Waldo immediately shot the zombie in the head and dealt with a few more, using his firepower to suppress them.

After dealing with the zombies, Alanna wanted to leave, but Waldo held her back, looking somewhat helpless. He said, "You've been following me all this way, how much longer do you want to keep following? Come, let's have lunch together."

And so, the two of them sat on a haystack, quietly eating their lunch. Waldo watched Alanna, who was eating slowly and calmly, a stark contrast to her previous ravenous eating habits.

Unable to resist, he asked, "Dr. Alanna, why have you been following me all this way? Today you were lucky to encounter few zombies, but next time when we encounter a horde, I might not be able to look after you."

Alanna didn't answer directly; instead, she asked, "Are your previous words still valid?"

"What words?" Waldo asked.

Alanna replied, "The ones where you said if I joined you, you would protect me and provide three meals a day. You won't go back on your word now, will you?"

Waldo chuckled upon hearing that. "Weren't you adamant about not obeying me before? And now you're following me just for that?"

Alanna raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit embarrassed. "So, is it still valid or not?"

Waldo shrugged and sent Alanna a team formation and contract signing request. "Of course, it's still valid."

"Team formation successful!" the system announced. "Master-servant contract successfully signed!"

In that instant, their personal information was fully displayed to each other in the team system. The system allowed players to view each other's positions and had features like in-team voice communication.

Players could also choose to share a portion of their experience with their teammates, but they couldn't harm each other.

The master-servant contract added a powerful restriction: "When the master dies, the servant dies. When the master lives, the servant lives." Only the master had the authority to dissolve the contract.

Waldo looked at Alanna and smiled, saying, "Dr. Alanna, try calling me 'Master.'"

Alanna gave him a disdainful look. She couldn't bring herself to say those two words yet.

After satisfying their hunger, the two continued on their journey. They proceeded with caution and didn't encounter any major dangers along the way.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

After three gunshots, Waldo dealt with three zombies and signaled Alanna from behind. Alanna saw it and quickly ran to Waldo's side.

"Waldo, how much farther is it?" Alanna asked.

Following Waldo all the way, she could say she was on edge. She even thought it might have been safer to stay in the previous small supermarket.

But Waldo didn't think so and whispered, "Quiet down. There are more than just three zombies in this building. Keep your voice down!"

Even with a silencer attached, there were still faint sounds of gunfire. In this deathly silent hallway, it stood out prominently. Actually, this silencer wasn't the best quality. In Waldo's opinion, it was a subpar one that still had a slight airgun-like sound when fired.

He was well aware of his own abilities and equipment. Currently, the only weapon he could rely on was a P92 pistol with 15 rounds, which sometimes might not even hit the target.

Although the three zombies were killed with three shots earlier, honestly, that was a specific situation where the zombies weren't moving and were very close.

It seemed that he needed to practice his marksmanship more in the future anyway, as the bullets were unlimited. Waldo made a determined decision.

After reaching the villa area and settling down, he would clear the zombies in the surrounding area and scavenge for supplies.

The reason he and Alanna were maneuvering through various hallways instead of taking the main roads was that he had already observed the situation using a tradeable telescope before departure.

There were too many zombies on the streets, to the extent that it made one's heart tremble just by looking at them. Not to mention, even if he used up all fifteen rounds of the P92, it wouldn't necessarily kill two zombies.

Currently, his marksmanship was decent if he could kill one moving target.

When the apocalypse first happened, everyone was teleported here and was basically in a state of confusion. Some were fearless, some were skeptical, and some were in panic, running to the streets and attracting the zombies from inside the buildings.

Therefore, Waldo estimated that there shouldn't be many zombies inside the building. Coupled with the narrowness of the hallways, even if there was a large horde of zombies, they wouldn't be able to rush in all at once.

Although the zombies had speed comparable to humans and never got tired, this aspect was extremely troublesome. However, the narrowness of the hallways provided Waldo with a certain degree of convenience for escape.

Waldo cautiously advanced along the wall with Alanna, carefully listening to any sounds in the hallway. These foolish zombies, when they lose their target, would stand still in place.

However, occasionally they would wander around, searching for fresh flesh to consume. Waldo was extremely alert, gripping his gun with both hands and giving Alanna a signal.

"Go open the door," he said.

Alanna's face turned pale, and her voice trembled as she said, "L-Let's just keep going!"

Waldo frowned. This foolish woman, why is she slacking off at this moment?
